Blimey this will separate the men from the boys in these cars  :o

shame its not 'historic' Monaco but should be fun and definitely challenging!

One of the tracks I was looking forward to the most...can't make it  ::).

Unfortunatly there isn't a "legal" historic version of Monaco. There is only this and a '88 version AFAIK, but this one is a bit better looking and the armco is a bit further away, which I thought might come in handy  ;D

Tried the "historical" version, but honestly is too much bumpy, is like a gimkana race :)

Fewer trees than Donington;  so maybe that's good...

hmm, after doing a few laps here I can see some carnage!  :P  its a very good mod track and looks stunning. Most of the lap is great, but the only thing I think they cocked (and what will really affect our race) is the chicane out of the tunnel is ridiculously tight. Do some laps and you will see what I mean, You have to brake so early and gently with that notoriously bumpy downhill out of the tunnel otherwise 8 times out of 10 you either lock up and skid over the rumbles incurring a penalty or you almost stop and turn frantically...hard work with an ffb steering wheel.  :sweatdrop:
Another tough race ahead  :o

though I see our resident aliens have already set some startling times  :surrender:

Link doesn't work  ;)

Tricky track though. Sorely missing that downforce  8)

Bit late aswell but there seems to be a 1966 version available:

Actually looks almost completely different from what it is now  ;D

Late indeed, as we already discussed that track  :P. It's a rip from rF2, so not really useable here ;).

Oh, forget I said anything then  ;D

Shame as that last section looks so much better for these cars then the modern track.

How are we on track limits today?
I can see some unintentional cutting after the tunnel section. Lift off to make sure we don't gain anytime from it should be enough?

Yes, just be sensible. If you can avoid an incident by cutting, then cut, but just give back any advantage you've gained.

Cutting during your fastest lap in qually will result in a qually ban for the next race.

Open the whole replay then drag the far left/right thingies to where you want the start and finish places and click save

Yep. I was just curious how you limit it, should you want to.
I will be attending this one, I say "attending" because "competing" would be lying....
I will stay to the end after I dump the car in the harbour to get a complete replay
and I will stick it in a bucket for anyone who wants it.

Jeffrey can you please leave me on the entry list for tonight's race? I don't know if I'll be able to join the server in time, and I have no training at all, but if I'm able to stay safely on track I would try to join the race. Thank you :)

You can enable the new replay settings, so you can save every session seperate at the end.
It didn't work when it just came out but they fixed that.

I think you are still on the list, but there are 4 empty spots on the list for unexpected joiners,  so as long as those aren't filled, you can always join, but you'll end up with a different skin.

Masochists tango, track too tight for these cars, for me at least, was doin ok staying out of trouble
then lost it braking for the harbour chicane, a couple people following also then lost it trying to avoid
got knocked straight by someone, so carried on, it seems I had Simon on my bumper, but could see
no one, untill we had contact and I rammed the barrier, limped to the pits with bent steering
eventually got out and set off just for the hell of it. Good job I didn't drive miles to get back for this one  :surrender:

Uncut replay, with I think Qual included here:

Wasn't expecting it, but had a lot of fun tonight.

Start was good and clean as everyone seemed to file up nicely. I messed up my braking immediately with the first of the downhill hairpins. Had to chase down fmg who seemed to let me by after a while. Then I was just trying to put some fast laps in and close to the gap to p4 Porco. 2nd half of the race I was right on his tail, though it's pretty much impossible to pass someone here, especially in these cars  ;D
With about 3 minutes to go he made a mistake coming out of the tunnel which gifted me 4th. Still had a great battle nonetheless.

Will need to do some more practice for the next race, never even heard of the track I think  ;D

Tried to save the savable
Quali 5, good start, luckly without St.Devote carnage today. At first lap Maikel went long at Mirabeau, passed but somebody hit me at internal (no big damage, I didn't saw nobody on my internal) good pace for 2 laps, but at St.Devote I leaned really soft the external jersey. Front destroyed and right front suspension damaged. So started to lost 1 - 2 seconds at lap against Maikel, that coming fast and heavy.
So, when saw him on my mirrors, started 20 mins of pure terrore. Desperate defense, closed all doors, was a really good duel, but at 2 mins to end, clutch mistake, did a spin at ther nouvelle chicane and I lost the position. Before the end of the lap, damaged the left front suspension too, so last 2 mins was really hard to mantain the car in the track!
Nice race, nice duel, was really hard with the H shifter, but is also the pleasure with these car.

That was as tough as expected.
Enjoyed the qually and race on the whole apart from the lap 1 melee.
I set a new pb in qually to bag 6th. Got a good start but someone chopped me after t1 and I had to get out the throttle allowing Matteo a run up the inside. We diced through the next few turns as well as another green car but several of us clashed at the turn leading to the tunnel and I ended up turned about face  :'( I had to allow the rest of the grid through and was plumb last.
It cost me a load of time trying to repass a lot of cars and enjoyed a good chase of sutol for several laps pressurising him. I got past on the sf straight and then set about trying to re-catch the front pack, setting a string of pb's.
I was taking time out of Fmg ahead but just no way of closing a 14 sec gap with the time remaining. Finished 7th  :(
Was good hard challenging fun with a manual shifter but the tunnel chicane was just too tight really. I clumped the Armco plenty of times! But mostly glancing blows. Well done to all Hardy souls that finished  :)

Got punted into the bus stop by some sort of torpedo :whistling: and then another car didn't see me when we were side by side and forced me into the barrier (sorry lost track of the name tags). At this point I laughed, looked at my bent suspension, laughed again and left to do some work I'd been putting off.  ;D

Think I might sit out the rest of the series and wait for something with less carnage, or at least a sensible track. ;)

Sounds like carnage and like giving a bit of leniency is not possible  :-X. People aren't reporting any incidents, so it seems they are fine with it, but then people leave because they get fed up by being punted  ::).

And to think people called these cars boring to drive.

I did quite a lot of practice, was still trying to find a drivable not too slow setup
in qual. I find these cars really tough to drive, they lock the fronts under braking
and then whip the back round when I change down, so hard to find a good compromise
bumps send them flying off in most unpredictable ways. Putting the tyre pressures up
was a big hel, but they are still quirky beasts. I did a few laps of ROuen, and either
that version is wrong or actually really accurate, dunno which, but it looks good
and drives well. The cars are still challenging, but nothing like the masochism or Monaco  :thumbup1:

Jeffrey can you please leave me on the entry list for tonight's race?

That was a bad idea...

Got punted into the bus stop by some sort of torpedo :whistling:

I was ashamed for that braking. Not so much to say but it was clearly unintentional. I simply shouldn't have join the race after 12 mins of training.
I will abandon the champ, because I simply have no time to prepare 2 races in a week lately and I have more chances to race on Sundays than on Weds. Evenmore this car need much more training and a good setup to be consistent on the pace and not a danger on track, and I'm quite lost without my faithful car engineer Gavino. He should be back in the near future and I hope to have the chance to train a bit with him preparing a setup for the race at Nordschleife on 20th December. I will start my training with the due advance this time :D

Sorry again Simon  :(

See you chaps

Wasn't really carnage just a bit too tight on lap 1 with cars running nose to tail and side by side, it meant if a car got a tail slide or out of shape it left no way of avoiding them and that quickly concertinas through the pack. Always a risk on a tight street track. Once lap 1 was out the way I enjoyed some good overtakes and racing/chasing.
People quit too early. :(

Hope enough of us continue the series to keep up the fun :)

I got bent suspension, and almost unuseable steering after a clash with ( I think) Simon's car
I managed to limp to the pits and after a lot of faffing about (having never used the pits before
for repair work) got going again. To be fair I was going to stay anyway in for the replay, and I did
eventually creep into the pits and park it. I need to learn the equivalent of the GTL pit board.

I missed this race because I went to look at a car for sale. It was a really nice looking 2005 Mazda MX-5. Unfortunately, the car had 200,000 miles, and the engine was not well maintained.
