Thanks, but the track is not the correct one. :)

Indeed, it's set to long, but we changed to extra long few weeks ago.

This is the correct map:

Historical notes (1962):
Pole position: 2.14.8 - Jim Clark
Victory: Dan Gurney - Porsche
Faster lap in race: 2.16.9 - Graham Hill

For those who say Monaco was hard, Rouen is 10 times more dangerous.  :)

Please tell me it's right now.

Tracks were supposed to get harder and harder each round, so I'm kinda worried people were already struggling halfway through the season  :P.

Nothing is too “hard”... the more you practise the easier it gets.. so if its not easy yet, practise more!

One thing you have got to understand while driving these cars is its not about grip, its about no grip..

If you are not braking for a turn under opposite lock, or exiting a corner with opposite lock your going too slow, if you always drive where you are on the edge of grip then you can expect the car to handle a certain way.. the car needs to be slid around so let it, dont try drive it like a gt3 car.. it wont happen. Get comfortable sliding the car around :)

I will share my setup when i get on the server.

one of my fave tracks of all time in GPL/GTL etc. This version has more dips and crests, but is still fab
not sure that Gresil was two corners as it is here, but it drives well.
I am probably not sliding the car as Chris is, but to me this is much less dangerous than Monaco
and I am hoping to make it.

According to those historical notes under the track map Chris is as fast as Jim Clark  :o though Chris isn’t facing death or disaster at every turn like they did

Every time I’m on for a new pb I have a mishap somewhere  ::) the worst by far being near 2 secs up with only the last straight to complete and my gear stick came off as I put it in 5th  :taz:

Didn't expect to finish, but not in such a rubbish way.

For some reason it felt like my car violently bottomed out at turn 1 which send me wide and then I hit an invisible wall  >:(. That bounced me right in the track of Matteo, sorry  :(.

Here is what I "hit":

I tried to avoid the contact with you Jeff, and I almost done... Unfortunately we touched slightly in your last part of your dancing tornado, and I can proudly say that mine dancing tornado was far better than yours  ;D ;D

Damn, it was a pity, for a time I was even starting to enjoy a race with these deadly coffins!  ::)

Never raced on the next two tracks, so I'll race if I won't be a danger.

See you  ;)

To say I'm annoyed would be a massive understatement.

Got to the grid and had no control inputs - couldn't quit to the pits either for some reason until after the race had started - which was slowed as Mark couldn't avoid me and hit my car. Forcing me to wait for it to roll into a wall and stop to quit.
Tried rejoining and every time I had no controls.

Quit in disgust just as the field completed their first lap and loaded the Lotus up here in practice - Worked perfectly  :cursing:

After getting the car sussed last week and Felix's excellent setup this time around I was really looking forward to tonight's race  :(

Shame, I was doing alright during practise and had a pretty good quali session. Even managed to do a 2:14:00 but ran abit wide at one point so it didn't count.

So I was quite confident during the start, managed to score a spot into third. I was feeling good keeping close behind Chris and Felix the first lap. Ofcourse during lap 2 everything goes wrong, I start missing my braking points, miss my downshifts. Luckily I didn't break any suspension but the rear was badly damaged. This was costing me about 3 or 4 seconds of speed alone so I didn't see much point in continuing anyway. Shame as I was just beginning to like the track  ;D

At least, was a pretty race. The track fit really well with these cars, fast corners, tailbraking as hell and die when you go out.
I was really worried about the practice times in this week, seemed to be around middle ranking, but today I feelt so good with the car, and at least I did a good 4th, with a lot of luck in two episodes.

Me and my teammate Fabri, sometimes with only 15 mins the quali are really messy!

The start was really good, without accident or mistakes, as usual in this champ
(https://i.imgur.com/CNtvuvM.png)

My teammate overtake me, he was really much more fast...

...and precise! I opened the throttle to much early! I lost 3 positions...

...that I regained after this terrible crash just the next lap!

Of course I tried to emulate the crash. No hard damege, only some bumps on chassis
(https://i.imgur.com/j1J4mMJ.png)

And I finish the race in 4th behind...

...The winner, Felix. Fabri 2nd and ChrisR that close the podium.

Great pics Porco  8) the cars looked amazing at this track, very atmospheric, I loved the cockpit view when chasing another car through the crowds and undulations.  :tt1:

Set a new pb in quality but still found myself down the order due to the number of quick guys upfront.

Got a good race start but found the guy ahead completely stationary and almost rear ended his car  :o just about squeezing around it without getting hit by others..phew.
Kept it clean down the hill whilst enjoying the dicing spectacle ahead. Lap2 felt like days of thunder heading down through the tyre smoke and broken cars  :o ;D and I found myself fighting for 4th with Porco for a few laps but it appears I had the wrong gear ratio as he was able to leave me for dead on the fast stretches and he gradually pulled away. I kept within 7 secs of him the rest of the race not making a single mistake  until the very last lap when I braked whilst having my right rear tyre on dirt  :o that nearly threw my whole race away but I gathered it up without contact and just lost 4 secs.  :sweatdrop:

Really enjoyed the challenge of keeping the car on this deadly track and was great dicing with cars early on and chasing Porco. Just a shame we lost a few cars early on and I got no further challenges from those behind so ‘racing’ was limited.
Congrats to the flying Felix on the win and all who finished  :thumbup1:

Managed to make a few places at the start through others misfortune. Mark came up behind and obviously was going to make it past at some point so made it easy for him :P From Lap 4 onwards, after getting tagged at the hairpin, the car was not good but driveable. Then I discovered the now changed cars vulnerabilities ie it did not like braking and turning much. This lead to several more spectacular crashes and a steering wheel that was at 45 deg to the normal. Limped my way round wondering how many were going to lap me. These cars are hard enough as it is but with damage you may as well be on a skid pan!

This is a brilliant track for running old skool cars! Good choice indeed and i hope we will use it again in near future.

I had a pretty OK start and was feeling quite comfortable. Still on cold tires i ran wide after late braking at some point, which cost me two places.
Then half way while  was being chased by Maikel, after his recovery from a spin, i accidentally misshifted for the hairpin. This forced me onto the grass and the bump in the middle of the grass made sure i had no control what so ever. Unfortunately my sliding car ran into the car of Sutol who was just completing the hairpin turn. Sorry about that mate. :-[
Had to give up some more positions, but was able to continue to the finish. Looking forward to the next track, never driven it but the layout certainly looks fast!

Enjoyed that, had very little practice, and was struggling to see some of the apexes due to the strong shadows
don't think I got gresil right ever  ::)
Didn't get to race anyone much, as I was a bit slower than some. I let Chris past, and possibly Postal
as I was getting continual blue flags, though both had fallen off somewhere and I went past.
Both were a bit faster anyway. My mission was to finish with no damage, and I managed it, so a result
of sorts  ;D
Might make Longford, It won't be as flexible next week. Longford, if I remember it correctly is long straights
with a few awkward fences to jump onto  :o

The first section is hard, with tight corners and a river to fall off into  :o
but once you get to the fast parts its longgggggg straights with challenging braking areas.
If you don't know the track you will almost certainly go straight on through a farm gate
at the end of one straight, guarantee it  ;D

I had a bummed race..

Probably because i was trying to get a pb during the race which always ends in disaster!

Practise started good, from the relatively limited anount i did i was able to break into the 2’13’s and in quali i managed to get pole..

Felix immediatly overtook me and stayed there for a lap or two until i got first back, epic close racing from the both of us here, he was sticking to me like glue until i made a mistake around t7, started to slide too much and it grabbed and spit me into the barrier! Lost first place and fabri was then close behind, i knew that he didnt quite have the pace to pass as long as my car wasnt too damaged, but it was pretty goosed, if felt like the rear toe was just floating about, as if the rear toelink has snapped, going into the hairpin was just luck if i could come out again and i spun going in, fabri took away my 2nd and he had a good clean push as i struggled to keep it going, harder i oushed the worse the car felt so had to just bite the bullet and try keep second!

I can get you a replay from home tonight if you need one?

Wasn't intending to race, but I have fond memories of Rouen from GPL days so decided to give it a go.

Qualifying was my practice time so I didn't complete a lap without crashing in qualifying, but knew what to do for the race.

The race was more fun without others than with for a change...less danger! I got progressively faster during the race as I found new lines and got braver! Was sitting quite happily in 6th, big gap with 1 lap to go and decided, instead of play safe and get the 6th that I would push a little too much and crunch, had to esc to pits and then do final lap when everyone else had already finished! This put me down to 7th, which I would have easily taken before the start, but instead felt a little annoyed with myself not to be 6th.

The track looked amazing, possibly one of the best looking 3rd party tracks ever and pretty similar to how I remember the old GPL version.

Thanks to Felix for sharing the setup, without that I doubt I would have bothered to be honest! Car was much easier to drive than last time out at Monaco.

I agree, setup felt really nicely balanced. My setup went from horrible understeer to snap oversteer.

Post by: Fabri Fibra on November 24, 2017, 05:59:18 PM +0000
I had practice-days on this track quite difficult; either because the track was quite different from that of GPL, either because of an initial setup not good. I had serious difficulties.

On Wednesday in the lunch break, I re-read the GPL setup guide, that advised for Rouen a setup "average" (as I had already), but for Spa it said "hard is nice". So I tried a very hard setup. I did just a few laps offline, printing a 2.14.0. I was much more hopeful.

Qualifications. Bordell, i found traffic and accidents that did not allow me to make useful time in the first 10 mins. I tried to make some clear laps in the end, but I was too pissed and I just made mistakes and shit.
I did a shitty lap and i was 5th on grid.

Race. I started pretty well, but Porco (the king of starts) passed me, I was 6th then. I quickly made a couple of pass and on second lap I was 3rd, but I had accumulated a gap between Felix and Chris. I did the race on same lap-times of leaders, but 6-7 seconds behind them. I continued to push, knowing that if one of them made a small mistake, I would be close.
When I saw Chris's red Lotus in front of me, I thought I could stay with him. I followed him for 2 laps, until he made a small mistake; and i was 2nd.
My race did not end there, because I had great moments of panic in the last two laps, red icon of fuel.
I cursed myself for failing to put more gasoline and not to have calculated that in qualifying I had gone very slowly because of the traffic (and therefore had consumed less). I started to lift the foot on the straights to save fuel. With amazement I saw that Felix was slowing down too, and I thought for the same problem. Also Chris behind me, didn't push. I probably finished the race with less than a pint of fuel in the tank.

A second place, for an anger race.

PS: i saw on my mirrows the Jeffrey's accident, it was terrible, a massacre. Hopefully nobody got hurt, not even among the spectators, I feared the worst.
