Title: UKGPL Season 32 (2017-18) Sports Car Trophy (67) - Spa - Dec 12

Season 32 Sports Car Trophy – Round 6 -  Spa-Francorchamps

The 5th round of the Sport Car Trophy we go to Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium.
Designed in 1920 the original triangle-shaped course used public roads between the Belgian towns of Francorchamps, Malmedy, and Stavelot. The track was intended to have hosted its inaugural race in August 1921, however the first car race was held at the circuit in 1922. Spa was the fastest road circuit in Europe at the time, and it had a nasty reputation for being dangerous and very fast- it was a circuit known to be one for the brave, and most drivers were frightened of it. The old Spa circuit was unique in that speeds were consistently high with hardly any let-up at all for 3–4 minutes.

Only reported incidents will be moderated, there is no Red Zone.

Handicapping and chassis allocation.
This season the Sports Car Trophy will be using a token system which allows drivers to purchase any chassis of their choice for a given number of tokens as published on the championship standings page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=619&theme=6). Drivers classed as Amateurs will be allocated an additional 10 tokens.  The token allocation will not be managed in SRou this season so (unlike the 67F1 Works and 67F1 Privateer divisions) the tokens available to each driver will not appear in the championship table (when the mouse pointer is hovered over the driver's total).  Rather, the available tokens will be published in the race announcement.  See below.

Available Tokens:
Note: These are the tokens available to each driver before the 10 tokens are added for making the race start.

I've loaded the chassis the drivers used into the token calculator spreadsheet.  For the next race the available tokens will be as declared in the table below (the table will also appear in the next race announcement).  The calculated values are automated but selecting the cars is a manual process so please check your tokens to make sure I haven't made a silly error.  There was no token overspend for this round so no one is disqualified.

Congrats Tim and Axel!

The 2F appears to be an outstanding car for this track. The only car I can drive further into the turns is the Porsche. Nothing in the mod compares to the way it goes into Holowell and holds the track through Stavelot. The bricks on the edge of the track don't have much effect on the Chaparral's grip like a lot of the other cars. I guess it's downforce. It also seems very sedate considering what a wild track this is. It might be easier to drive here than the Porsche.

I forgot to save my race replay. I did save my qualifying lap though. :) After an early screw up, clipping the post, everything went fairly smooth. It was a good exercise in consistency. It's a shame everybody but Axel went off in front of me. You guys didn't buy Axel much time. It looks like the one click I used on the differential for the race lost me a second in lap time. I didn't think my qualifying gearing would last a race. I doubt it would have made it through qualifying on Pro damage. I think my race gearing would have been too short on Pro damage too.

If this weren't the first GT season I've run online, I might have used a slower car. I planned my schedule before the season to score the most points for my tokens. If I run another season in these cars I'll try to use cars that keep me close to the other cars. Another good idea for me would have been to use 5 less tokens per race versus the Privateers.

The Porsche should be good at Nurburgring and Brands Hatch. And I think the Ferrari and Lola will be good at Bathurst and Interlagos. The 2F is always good if you can set it up and have the tokens.

Thanks guys. I hope Clive, Sam, and Tristan make it next time.

I was havin' a good Practice Session and felt quite comfortable with the ferrari.
At the start i catched Axel and Greg spun away, so I found myself surprisingly in the lead.

I was figthing well with Tim when i realised he has to break earlier in Malmedy. I avoided hitting him but got myself stuck in the barrier.
First Reset.

Later in the race i damaged my engine, lost power and got catched (never had an engine damaged slighlty so much like this year) .

Tried to stick to Dave's slipstream in Masta and went wide, touched the masta mast and killed myself
