Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: None.

This race was a disaster as I just cannot get the Pork to resist the urge to do slow graceful spins at the slightest opportunity.

So having qualied ok I soon fell down the order due to several spins. Just glad to finish this one.

Race one was an epic battle of the Escorts, had a great chase with Clive until I overcooked it somewhere
but he waited for me to get going, then after a while he went off, so I returned the favour
then we had a mad dash to the finish. I had pushed the brake bias rearwards, forgetting what
an unpredictable pig it is under braking.

Race 2 I took the Beemer, which I don't like, but is actually no harder than the wayward ford brakes to drive
went to the back of the field after losing it avoiding people, did some passes/people went off got into third after a few overtakes
and stayed there to the end, despite a few minor offs

Very glad to be back behind the G25, and racing with you guys.....It is surprising how many times on Monday PM I would have that empty feeling and think I am missing something.  Humans are a critter of habit, at least I am....
R1 was a total disaster, I went into the weeds and kitty litter about 4 times I think.  Should have been last but other drivers were having the same problems as I did.
R2 was much better for me.  The only way I could keep the Por on the track was to brake very early and just coast around the corners and go for a good exit.  Also adjust the brake bias for less fronts.  I also got to thinking and it seems for me the car was over rotating in the middle of the curve ,so put max front bar in it and most negative rear bar.  That seemed to help with my driving style a little.  I think I may have got into Clive or Roger's  way in the corners a couple of times, sorry about that, but had to drive the car that way to keep it on track.
All in all a fun return and see you all at the old Spa track.

Grats to the podium winners
Bob M.

Grats to the podium people and apologies to anyone who was compromised by my Escort antics.

Race 1
This was a new ( well at least an unfamiliar) circuit for me and as per usual I had not turned a wheel in anything before I joined the server last night. I had to d/load the track and install before the race and having glanced at the map, I was considering using the Opel................but when I looked at the cars I had left there were an awful lot of Escort drives waiting to be used up  :-\....................now I know why!!  ::)

Like Matt has already said, the dastardly Dagenham dustbin wanted to auto rotate at just about every flamin' corner and I spent practice and quali learning the track and applying micro fine adjustments to the setup with a scaffold tube and sledge hammer.  ;D in an attempt to find a stable chassis.

I wound the brake balance forward in an attempt to stop the rears locking up and sliding around, but things did not improve much! Started the race and it was only a matter of time before I was in the boondocks...geez but that Czech grass is slippery!! it took me ages to regain the tarmac and last place!! Eventually I glimpsed a lonely Matt ahead and focused on slowly reeling him in. He had a few minor offs to help me and battle was joined for the honour of last place. There were many buttock clenching moments as the car appeared determined to ignore any directional input, preferring to find its own path which did not usually correspond to the tarmac.
The joke is that Matt would have beaten me anyway....I spluttered out of fuel 200mtrs from the finish.

Race 2
Considered changing cars, but figured that a couple more adjustments to the Escort might just make it more driveable. So dumped another 2 galls of go juice in the tank, reduced the brake effectiveness to 88% and wound the balance forward slightly. One click on the power side of the diff and went for a trial lap. First flying lap and I was a second faster and the car was slightly easier to drive...or maybe I was adjusting to it??

Got a reasonable start and was able to chase Bob's Porker for several laps until Matt steamed past in his recovering Beemer. Still able to chase Bob and it was noticeable where he was quicker and where I regained the time. All was well until I was indeed caught out by Bob's early braking ( no complaints, should've been more aware!) at the top pf the hill and I had to throw the car onto the grass to avoid a rear end situation  :o. Up until then I was feeling that maybe there was a fast car hiding somewhere in the RS1600 setup and perhaps I was getting closer to uncovering it. Once again the slippery grass delayed my rejoin and I was back in last place again with Tony now the only car I had a hope of catching ..  another Porker :ninja:
Slowly I got closer and just when I thought that a couple of quick laps might get me on terms...the Erstwhile Escort spun me around again!!  Spent the rest of the race trying to set a PB, and failing miserably until... despite having added 2 galls of extra fuel, I ran out 1/2 lap short of the finish??!! Maybe I was driving more aggressively in the 2nd race??

Still, it was good fun wrestling with the car and quite a few good fun laps in each race, plus I have used up 2 of those Escort drives  ;)

8)

Fighting with the Beemer's setup as always.  ???

My quali-time for race 2 was a big surprise for me as towards the end of my hot lap I had to kill a midge on the wall, left the track
through the last corner and still reached a new pb about nearly half a second faster than in quali for race 1  ;D

Race was a disaster as I simply had to pay attention to my back mirror when cruising around in 3rd place with all the huzzle after the start.
But again the Beemer's unmanageable behaviour  >:( :P

Bob & Tony, regarding the Porker;  I'm basically a setup dufus, so can't claim to have 'cracked it' in any way.  For this race I used my standard setup, which I'm sure is close to default, added some arb front/rear, and increased negative camber front/rear.  That seemed to make it corner faster.  Otherwise tried driving it like I believe you're supposed to drive a real 911:  no liftoffs inside corners, and try to take advantage of its good traction out of corners. If I got the nose tucked in properly towards the apexes, I could pretty much floor the throttle mid-corner. By and large, it worked well, except for overstepping the bounds twice in race 2...  ::)

Went with the Nissan again here after trying it at the last race, got a few practice laps in during the afternoon as it was a bit hot for doing much else, best time was a low 2.21. On joining the server saw Erling was in the 2.20s with the 911 so was not expecting to be able to challenge him. Surprised then in qually to post a 2.19.7, 1.5s faster than I had previously managed.

First race my start was poor, not enough revs, but was just enough to take the lead ahead of a fast starting Tony. Hoped Tony would hold Erling up long enough for me to get away but Erling was soon through to 2nd & I expected him to catch up as I didn't think I could do consistent laps below 2.21. As it turned out I did manage some quick laps, even a couple of 2.19s, & eased away from Erling to a fairly comfortable win. ;D

Second race I only did one qually lap, only good enough for 2nd on the grid. Start was better this time & out-dragged Erling to T1, was a bit ragged over the first few laps with Erling close behind, probably trying too hard & over-driving. Then suddenly there was no 911 behind, turns out Erling had spun at T1, so I now had an 8s lead which I was able to hold until the end.

Congrats to the other podium guys.

Regarding setups, I have uploaded my Nissan setup to the online setups folder for Brno, look for 'Skyline Dunlops'. There are 4 tyre choices, I have only tried the Avons & Dunlops & prefered the feel of the Dunlops, although laptimes were similar, so don't know if the Goodyears or Michelins are any faster. Can't help with 911 setup, not even tried the car yet, but then I have never been able to setup & drive any 911 successfully in GTL!  ::)
