Car restrictions: The most popular model used at this event will be dropped from the list of cars available for future races. If two or more models tie for most popular, then the highest finishing model will be dropped. The final race of the series will be "free choice" and all car models will be available.

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: 2x
Pit stops: Required

Server: simracing.org.uk Mondays
Password: see above (#post_event_password)

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: None.

On holiday (https://www.gif-paradies.de/gifs/flaggen-der-welt/daenemark/daenemark_0003.gif) - so I'm restricted to posting the result   ;D

BTW: in 1969 they still drove on the banked version of Monza: https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=14720.0 (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=14720.0)

Any version without the silly 1st chicane would be good. The GPL version, or the banked one for me.

What on earth is the right way around this track ??  ???

When you exit the pits, do you stick to the right and go straight to the banked section, or do you cross to the left, going to more familiar parts of the track ??   Game gives no indications of 'wrong way', no matter which you choose  ???

Leave the pits and go to the banked section is my guess. But for shorter outlaps I've been crossing to the other side of the track, through the cones, with no penalty.

Grats podium

Sorry that my quitting the server caused Fulvio to suffer as well. :-\

As usual lately, I had no preparation for this race ( a week away at Centre Parcs with the grandchildren !!! ) so once again I scanned the list of cars still available and picked what looked like a fast option.
I was in danger of failing to post a quali time as I kept making mistakes trying to learn both car and track. One quick lap placed me on the front row, but I was far from happy with the Ferrari 375 around the bankings but with no time to sort the suspension.
Unstable does not even come close to describing the car, I was not confident of reaching the end of the race, but what the heck!! I was on the front row and might get a clear track if I could jump Erling at the start.

Erling's D type suffered from the gearbox curse as he shifted into 2nd and the 5 speed Fezza just outdragged him to Curve Grande. I had discovered that I had to respect the cold tyres and tip toed around the first lap being careful to avoid any heroic moves...even lifting slightly into the banked sections  ::) The gap that I pulled over the first lap was encouraging but the way in which Erling closed up under braking for the chicane was extremely disturbing!!!
I was so busy watching the mirrors for that D type after a couple of laps that I totally missed the entry to Ascari and bounced straight across the gravel, getting a "cut track" warning but I feel guilty about gaining a second or more on Erling  :whistling:
I was slowly easing away from Erling, but each time I had to negotiate a banking my buttocks were clenching. There were a few "moments" which I managed to save but the inevitable happened, Mabel's suspender elastic proved less than adequate in the suspension dept, and the rear end snapped away. I thought I had performed yet another superb save until the tail snapped back the other way and I was launched into La La Land off the top of the banking.
TBH it would have been a miracle to get that car to the flag and if I had won the race I think I would have retired having demonstrated the pinnacle of my driving prowess....but that was never going to happen lol.

Grats to Erling and all finishers and apologies to Fulvio for distracting him at a crucial moment  :-\

D-Type was the fastest option among the cars I tried and so became my choice.  When both Fulvio & Ziu joined the server in 250TRs, I wondered if I had made a blunder in not even trying it.  I was much quicker than both in pre-race praccy, but surely both were sandbagging ?    They were indeed, as they shaved off massive amounts in qual, with Ziu getting very close to my best.  Clive showing up in a 375 spiced up things further. My own times in that undriveable car were close to my Jag times, so he could very well be quicker!

Happy then to bag pole, if only just. Outdragged by Clive after the start as he mentioned, so spending the first laps chasing him.  He gained a bit more than 1 sec when he shot across Ascari, and had a fair gap afterwards.  Thus I didn't see his untimely demise. I had driver tags on, to be warned if anyone was leaving the pits, and suddenly his showed up in an odd place to the left of the track. "Ah bugger, he's gone over the railing...".  Great shame Clive - the stage was definitely set for an interesting race.

Thus inherited the lead, but had to keep pushing, as Ziu wasn't far back.  Gradually eased away lap by lap, as the Jag was just a little quicker.  Had a fairly comfortable gap after my pit stop on lap 12, of around 25 secs, so could concentrate on bringing it home.  Grats to Ziu & Tony for completing the podium.  Commiserations to Clive, Fulvio & Bill, who all met with misfortunes.

Sad to see the 250TR go; had hoped to drive it some time in the series  :'(

The Mercedes was an easy choice for me as I found it to be the most docile handling around those fast banked turns. It also did not overheat tyres or have tyre wear issues. It was good fun bombing around this version of Monza. Just a shame that the modder did not base their conversion on the 1970's version of Monza  ??? then it would be perfect. Not much to report about this race. Looking forward to Silverstone with the remaining car choices. It should be interesting to see who chooses what.

EDIT: Ziu has pointed out to me that there is a version of the 10KM track without the chicanes available at Altbierbude, I just never saw it. I will see if we can replace our current version with this one.

The latest version of the Monza 10k circuit in GPL is a version without any chicanes. It is a serious speed bowl which generates some epic slipstream battles.
It was revised and updated for the release of the recent 1955 Grand Prix cars and has no chicane before the Lesmos, and Ascari is the original  sweeping left hander taken flat in whatever gears you have.

So the only braking points are for Lesmo 1 ( a lift for Lesmo 2) and Paraboilca.  :o :o

Is there some technical whizzo who can make a conversion to GTL?
