Last time I drove here was with the GTR2002 mod for F1 Challenge 99-02 and I remember enjoying the track a lot. Hope you have more luck here than at Österreichring :).

I haven’t raced here since I-racing many years ago in an mx5  :o. Good technical track though with a variety of challenging corners   :)

Just because there was a downpour that day and the match was cancelled, even if a few mentally-disturbed pushed to play the match anyway. Luckily the sane group prevailed  ;D

Tomorrow will be a shiny day in Rome, so I bet I won't race, given that I won't join a race anymore starting form the back of the grid with 1min and 30 seconds to the start as at Osterreichring. It was a disaster for me, and just the sticky barrier saved some other drivers from a big bang. It makes no sense, and even with 15 minutes more I'm not convinced I would be on time for the race, unfortunately  :'(

Only done a few offline laps due to rift issues  ::) maybe I was in a bad mood after but I found this car quite frustrating at this track. Some of the corners and braking markers were hard to nail in this big car. Probably just lack of laps though  :(

Kinda agree with you, some corners are great, but there are too many corners which take the flow out IMO.

This.  ;) All breaking  have a more better reference points  than simple meters markers.  :) Short conners ( long chicanes) have a same good points- gears sound. If i driving in rithm here-  this combo feels very enjoyeble  :)
Only one place where i did not find a braking point at first practise laps  was a braking after long back straitght. But I've find it too- the steel rail begins ( margin) in right side of track  :)

Oh dear. I qualified quite well for me so was expecting good things, but I accidentally nudged Alexey (sorry!) on lap2?lap3? which even though it was pretty gentle sent him into a spin. Decided to let everyone through and wait for him to catch up. Spent rest of race trying to make anything back out of the race as my pace was pretty good, but it was hard work. Thought I would get Matt on the last lap but he put up a sterling defence! ;D

Mixed emotions for me tonight, I feel like the sim racing gods are against me this week  :( every time I’ve sat down to do some practise I’ve had major issues with the rift so ended up with none, even just before qually I had to exit and power down the pc  ::) it doesn’t just rob you of practise it destroys your calm and concentration!

Anyway, best I could manage in qually was 10th eventually.
Race start was decent and had to fight off a feisty Matt for a while whilst chasing spanner and nsfw ahead. Matt kept dropping back but each time I struggled with braking or understeer he would close right up and harass me for a few laps. Took me a long while to shrug him off and attack spanner. I reeled him in over a few laps until he had a really messy lap (mirror watching?) and I could scoot past and move up to 7th  :o
Next up the road was nsfw who I caught after a few more laps as I had finally got in the groove of this fiddly track. We had an excellent battle for many laps until contact in the last uphill left, which put me spinning on the grass and lost time.
But his tyres must have been wearing out as I re caught him again after 2-3 laps and set about pressuring him again. Once more it was great fun and intense racing but at the same corner as before we sadly had contact again. This time his car turned around and span off despite me trying to nudge him straight.  I pulled over to wait as don’t know who’s fault the contact was but then Matt and Simon came steaming up the road so I drove on to finish the last two corners. It was a gutting end to a great fight  :(

I was amazed to be even able to fight for top 7 places with zero practise. Found the track frustrating in this car but also had great chases and fights so odd night really.  :-\

No problem, Simon. I've done the same thing with Mark E. at last laps. Sorry Mark and Larry ). Being sleeping at the wheel after all, i forgot to drive last lap. So lucky race for me.  :-\

Enjoyed tonight, really getting to like the car and another great track from the Mod community and a nice challenge for the Evo.
Personal best in qualifying by about 6 tenths so pleased with that and also got a good start in the race but the front 2 had about 0.5 secs/lap on me so couldn't keep up.
I spent most of the race holding off Jeffrey and making sure he was far enough back at the end of the back straight because I noticed he was braking a lot later than me there. I think the extra kilos he was carrying helped me hold on to the final podium. Cheered me up a bit after another disaster in GT3 on Sunday.
Well done to FMG and Felix who had great pace tonight.

Really enjoyed that one  ;D I seem to be getting the measure of these cars better, maybe just tracks that suit.
As mentioned, had some fun hassling MJ for a few laps, he was a bit quicker, but he kept getting wobbly allowing
me to catch and threaten a pass now and then. I think we even went 2 by 2 round a couple of corners.

Went off a bit myself, so lost contact, and eventually caught spanner up, and passed when he took some grass
off the last corner. Could see Simon was catching us up fairly quickly, so did my best to not lose time, so of
course I was on the grass, missed apexes etc, got it together for the last couple of laps, and defended the hairpin
at the end of the back straight more than I would have done if it was earlier in the race, and just kept the place.
Good racing all round.  :thumbup1:

Just out of interest, Is the ballast working? Just wondered if it is having any effect as it doesn’t seem to be slowing you front guys down much  :detective: I would have thought on a tight undulating track like this it would have really hurt, yet you still finished 20+ secs up the road. (Not that the rest of us were setting the world alight!  :P )

It must be - I won! :P

I had no ballast for this round thanks to a major balls up at Barcelona,  Felix was noticeably slower in the mid speed stuff, at least until my tyres started to give out.
I'm pretty pleased with myself for not folding in the last 15 minutes if I'm honest, he was close enough by that point to capitalise on almost any mistake. Luckily he copied me on the only real big one I made when I ran wide onto the s/f straight.

That was a great race, hopefully my fight to keep the car on the road didn't look like I was intentionally over covering in the corners - I enjoyed being the one at the front for a change, although my Rift nearly fogged up at some points I was getting so hot and worked up!

Yes Mark, the ballast is working, I can tell you that!  :)

This was an intense race. I pushed as much as I could and stayed the whole race within 2 seconds and a good part of it within one second from FMG. But we had similar pace and neither of us did any big mistakes, so I was never in a position to strike an attack.

Yeah just chatted to nfsw, now I know why I was much quicker than him in the final part of the race. I thought his tyres were gone but it’s because he was carrying a lot of ballast.  :P
Glad to hear it’s working as it should :thumbup1:

I think the ballast is working because if I was qualifying better my race pace is much closer to the front than it usually is and I don't think it's just that the cars suit me. Yesterday I would have been again fighting NFSW and maybe higher up if I hadn't made a mistake at the start. I wouldn't normally be fighting these guys.

Didn't think the softs would go off quite so much ::)

surprised at qually pace, then noticed NSFW had 100kg extra onboard ahead of me. Spent the first half of the race just trying to stay within range and watching MJ attempt to close up and then go off a number of times. First half of the race felt ok, but the wear got pretty dire. MJ came past on the lap I felt I needed to do a few consistent laps and failed as it became apparent the second half of the lap was hurting me in the slow corners. Tried to just hold on and get to the end; Simon drove around the outside of me!

I'll try and remember next time to stick with mediums, but even the temps of the softs were pretty low.

Another fun race for me.

Put a lap in qually and decided to go back to the race setup for the last 6 minutes to get back to the feel of that, but then Maikel jumped ahead by a few hundreths so I went back for a qually run in the last 3 minutes. Was just able to get the position back, but it decided to be very important.

Start was pretty tight and was kinda attacking Flavus, but didn't really have a chance. I then had to stare at his behind for 45 minutes, hoping for a small mistake, but he held on very well and never gave me an opportunity. Maikel's late braking made me nervous quite a few times, but it all went well :).

No overtaking the whole race, but still a nice train of 3 cars within 1 second most of the race.

The ballast should only slow down by a second at most I think, so it shouldn't balance the whole grid out.

Yes. Guys in front must to have 200 kilos of potatoes to attain our cool driving level  :D

Maikel must to have a +300kg each race to be the same as Baikal. So,  you "Just confused" , my friend  ;D

Although not as fast as you guys in front, Larry and I had a good old scrap at the back of the field. You were much faster than me Larry, but you seemed to lose concentration whenever you got past and gave me back the position soon after.

Not a great fan of the car and the track has never really clicked with me but a very enjoyable race nevertheless.

Cheers Chris

Maikel has been on top most of the time, only overtaken by Felix I think.

Still an enjoyable race even though I'm not a fan of this track. Especially with ballast in this car it is horrible at the hairpin fest. Kept behind Jeffrey the entire race and since its difficult to overtake here I just settled with getting on his nerves with some late braking  8)

Less ballast for the next race is a plus though. Should be an exciting 2 races with Felix right on my tail for the championship.

Tough race for me this time.
Qualified only in P8, but this track with this much ballast was just not my cup of tea :D
I was able to gain two spots when Baikal and Simon went off, stayed in P6 for most of the race until a charging Mark closed in with a few minutes to go.
I could hold him off until the last lap when a touch from behind spun me around and I lost three positions, but that's racing I guess :P
Next race at Spielberg should be more fun with less weight.
