Space allowing - I'll be there .... but as I've not done a great deal of races in GT cars at Magny, can somebody give me an idea of a "middle of the pack" laptime?

We'll be using the "old" server tonight, so max 24, but as Zacari says, was only 16 last week anyhow.

Really disappointing this one  :(

Qualified 8th. Last qualifying lap I was about half a second faster but I ran out of fuel :(

At the first lap I was going into Nurburgring and hit the bollards, spun out and rejoined last. After a few laps I was running 12th again but I think my car sustained some damage from the crash in lap 1.

Let's hope the next one will go better  :)

I forgot how tyre comsuming GTs are. Was ok (except for punting Greg, sorry again) tyres were fine, then 5 min before end - snap, no more rubber. Spinned 3 times in those ending (long) minutes, only able to finish and keep 5th place for 3 seconds I think. I prefer NGT.  :)

Btw, what means U E/S 1/2 RoC ?

That was hard work .... hit something I couldn't see in lap one and somersaulted, was way back after that, span a few times so my tyres were cooked....

Managed to keep out of most people's way I think (apologies if I slowed anyone down - Jonzo in particular)....but I'd best get practicing for the next round.

FANTASTIC!

CONGRATULATIONS ZACARI ON YOUR POLE AND WIN.

Was fantastic to have a Team Shark 1 - 2. Wow! Yeee haaaw!

What a race! What a blast! Was non stop action from start to finish with top 3 or 4. Was amazing racing and such high standard of driving. Just fantastic. Shame only 15 GTs this race, they are such a hoot when it all comes together, really great stuff.

I had a hell of a job keeping No25 behind me but my cool head saw me through in the end. I had nothing like the pace of Zacari or No25 but consistancy is king and I managed to hold the lead for quite some time through sheer consistancy of driving. My best lap during the race was about 7th or 8th, but nearly every lap the same.

My tyres were shot to shit at the end of the race. With 5 - 10 minutes left even with great tyre management and no lock ups or anything it was so so difficult driving the car. Was a real challenge, but knew the F550s were struggling too so stuck it out with grit and determination that I would not let Zacari down and finish in 2nd spot for a Team Shark 1 - 2.

Was not feeling confident going in as have always been a little off the pace at Magny Cours. Played around with the setup from about 8pm right through to qualifying, till finally I had something I was relatively happy with. Pulled a 1:34.5 out of nowhere to take 2nd on the grid and with Zacari on pole was looking very good. Didn't know what No25s pace would be in the race but knew I had to drive consistently and brake late into the hairpin every lap to keep him behind.

The first few laps were hectic with Greg, Zacari, myself and No25 at the front, just amazing stuff. Then Zacari ran wide into the first lot of sweeping fast bends and I took a very suprising lead. Saw that Zacari had recovered well into 4th and tried to back the pack up a little to let him catch up to the group. Easier said than done, was difficult doing that and keeping eyes on road and keeping No25 and Greg behind.

Led for quite some time as the guys fought it out behind me and I was able to hold the lead reasonably comfortably with them losing time fighting each other. Then about two thirds through the race I was under severe pressure every lap from No25, he finally made a great move into one of the final slow speed corners and was past. Soon after Zacari was right on my tail and went passed down the straight out of my slipstream. I didn't fight him at all into the hairpin wanting him to catch up with No25 as he had more chance than I (that's what team mates do), but No25 made a mistake into the hairpin and both me and Zacari were through.

Played out exactly as I wanted, but still a job to do. Keep No25 behind me and get that fabulous Team Shark 1 - 2. Well i did it - JUST. Was a fantastic battle and my tyres were so shagged at the end was really hard work, but really rewarding to shout with joy at the end.

Great racing and thoroughly enjoyable, thanks Zacari, No25 and Greg, a privilege.

Got a new PB in qualy using the Lambo for my first competitive race 8)

Had a bit of a pants race really due to 3 spins, two of my own? doing with a tank slapper going into the fast 'S' curves under pressure from Truetom. Race had started well enough, got upto 4th for a while until said spin.
(probably all that bloody fuel i put on after you cheeky buggers told me it drinks more than the minutes counter shows... i had topped it up and finished with 29 litres on board...gits ;D )

Seemed to just go backwards with other people grabbing my place each time the car span off. Was catching SBG every time near the race end but due to an unfortunate spinner in front of me, i found the track blocked and lost about 7-10 secs, otherwise i think i could have got him :-\

Finished slightly disapointed for all that effort ::)

Me too on the NGT preference

Congrats to Zacari  ;D.

Took the 550 for the first time tonight, after finding out it was far easier to drive than the Lister after all that NGT. Quali was good fun but I was buggered if I could do more than one cleanish lap. Hence I knew that I was going to struggle in race and I did, after incident at hairpin. I'm sure it wasn't funny for Jam, but I had real trouble  ;D when he somersaulted from the middle of the track, with no one around, right in front of me. Those stupid bloody cones strike again.

I'll try that beast again. And its good to know that Sharks not in RoC  ;).

It does eat the fuel. Honestly I can testify to that. I put in 93litres in for this race. It devours fuel and it's always better to have more and not use it than less and run out.

There are some tracks it eats it's rear tyres too, Magny is one of them and you have to be real careful not to spin it otherwise your doomed to never get the rear temperatures down. Most tracks it's ok, but MagnyCours is particular bad for rear tyres in any car.

That was a cracking race  the leader never more than a couple of seconds ahead and on the edge stuff right to the line: 2 secs covering 1-2-3. :o 8)

Managed a 1:34.4 early in quali that got me on pole, but with 3 others right behind I was glad it was Shark in 2nd being teammates 'n all ;D  Started fine, I was only faster in the sweeping long right-hander so I was pushing the limit there to try and build up a lead, snatched a brake around lap 4 and span, thankfully not collecting anyone else and pointing the right way a few seconds back from new leader Shark.

Greg and No25 were right up with Shark and I had a job catching up, thankfully Shark backed them up somehow to allow me to get there which considering others pace was no mean feat!  From around lap 10 'till the end Shark, No25 and myself we were biting at each-others heels, I was mainly trying to keep No25 looking in his mirrors until finally he managed to squeeze past Shark coming into the final complex.  I tried to get a run on Shark coming towards the hairpin and managed to get a good enough drive to not unduly delay him, same corner No25 had a half-spin and we both slipped through into a narrow 1-2 lead.

It was then a case of trying to be on the limit for the rest of the race, Tyf is now my fave insane penguine for letting me through so easily on the s/f straight :punk: that helped an amazing amount.
After losing Monza sunday this has easily made up for that,  and an early lead in the Team championship too, as well as Shark being top of the Drivers ch'p.

I 0wn @ letting peeps pass on straights... Uuh, cwap, lol! That can't be the idea of racing, lol! :D
Seriously though, I always try to stay out of the way of leaders lapping me (learned that mostly in driving NGT in endurance races) and/or others in a fight lapping me :). Question of common courtesy and gentlemanly driving imo. Hence I didn't understand why some1 would want to stay out in the kittylitter for more than 1/2 the race?! Causing a yellow flag and appearing in my view every lap, cause I drive with 'names' on... :-\
Had a decent race, tried the C5R for a bit, eats tyres as well though, hence I'll be trying the Lister for my next GTR race and hopefully be more competitive in the end instead of spinning 2 times a lap ;) :D

This was my first UKGTR championship race, I took part in a fun event at Brno before.

Grats to Zacari and Shark, great racing guys. I didn't have a fully tested 550 setup so wasn't surprised when the tyres started going off badly toward the end. I also had trouble with braking at Adelaide, too much pressure methinks as bias adjustments during the race didn't help.

All in all a good first race for me with great driving, allowing for tight racing. Looking forward to more. :)

Don't give up on the CR5 Tyf, it's a really cool car and nice to see some variety. Magny Cours is really bad on rears in any car.

A good qualifying put me in 3rd on the grid.

Very interesting first few laps saw me go from 3-2-4-3-2-7 and finaly finishing 4th.  Unfortunatly a couple of contacts cost me dearly which meant I was always around 10 secs behind the leading 3 with no way of making the time up.  Oh well thats racing, some you win some you dont.
Still a good race, bring on the next one.

Replay complete with wheels link (http://www.vampiricnation.com/GTR/downloads/replays/Magny-Cours_ukgtrS3R2GT_2'5'06.Vcr)

There are some cool shots from one of the alternate on-board cameras looking at the back wheel & exhaust, the lead battle was pretty much the whole race so there's a fair bit of material there!  The format of the GTL video was fine, something like that again would be great :thumbup1: music and engine noise, dont mind the odd bit of commentary it might be useful to give direction on what's being shown.

So is changing cars allowed in the middle of the season, and if so, is there a penalty attached?

Yes, and no. The new manufacturer's championship might provide some incentive for those who have a general preference but sometimes change for a specific circuit to consider sticking with their normal ride though.

Yes it's allowed, no there is no penalty.

We find most people stick with the same car all season anyway, as it's tricky to learn and setup a new car to the same level, and most people have a favorite.

Car-changing is allowed unless I've missed an announcement somewhere, and there is no penalty.  I make a point of not changing cars mainly because I like the 550, but also because imo it's not in the spirit of racing to change car to the best one for the track all the time.  Not that everyone does it for that reason, but some do.

LOL haven't you two got work to do or something? :P :P :P

This replay doesn't cover the whole race. It starts immediatly somewhere in the race. It's 2468s long, which is a bit more than 40 minutes, so that's strange.
So I either make a video of what I've got now, or I need a new one to also shoot the starting grid and creaqte an intro. Your pick.

I know a lot of us turn off the replays cause of the 1 fps bug so there probably aren't many out there unfortunately, so we may be stuck with what we've got.

Lol, I know, but first lap give an indication. But I think it's best to skip a video about this race, because I have my own GTL race to shoot now, so maybe next time. These videos about race are very hard to shoot, so many cars to follow for so many laps.
