Are those GT3 lap times from May 2017 still possible? I just had some offline practice and nowhere near those times  :(

Are you looking at qualifying or race times? (if the car is on softs then it'll be qualifying).
I'd imaging Chris's lap record for the race is what you should be looking at

I was looking at both, I am 2 secs slower on both compounds  >:(

I have to say thats a very narrow pit window and actually hinders any really attempt to even run a full tank down and then pit.

Not sure those times from 2017 are going to be reached tbh.

Flipping disconnect just as I was fighting for the lead!

The rest of the race was just trying to set purples, showing I had the pace for victory today!

Annoying thing about the Porsche is that you can't use Softs in qually (completely overheat) so you never get where you should be on the grid. I knew that because my qually pace was basically around where I would be in the race whereas everyone else would be slower I was easily in with a chance. Even better I was able to go faster than qually in race with a couple of last minute setup tweaks.

But just as I was fighting with the leader, bam, disconnect. I was hoping it was everyone but alas no. Rejoined to get the points for a finish at all (did I get any?) and fastest lap, but was all fruitless.

I feel like someone brought out the Virtual Safety Car just at the wrong moment. ;)

Cracking race that, really enjoyed it from start to finish. Not often I can make Jeff work to stay ahead  ;D
Shame you got discod Simon as was looking forward to a Porsche v Ferrari fight too.
I had a good early fight with Flavus for the lead but we had a bit of a coming together at the loop about 20 mins in, that cost us both time and allowed Jeff past. I then chased him very hard glued to his gearbox until we both pitted together at around lap 14. He got out a few secs in front of me with his uber efficient Mercedes mechanics while my Ferrari boys were enjoying a cappuccino  ::) It took me the rest of the race to reel him back in with the leader and the top 3 crossed the line in a close column of 3  :)
Pleased with a 3rd place finish but actually think I could have won or got 2nd plus I could have got to the end with one set of tyres in hindsight. :)

What a great race that was again.

Opening lap was amazing with 6 cars squabbling with eachother. It wasn't long till Simon blasted past me on the straight. That's the only downside of the weight, it leaves you dead on the straights.
Top 3 slowly pulled away from me and I had Spanner to worry about behind me. That's when Simon disco'ed and Mark started to attack Flavus, which slowed them both down and I was able to close up.
Then the 2 guys infront touched and I got 2nd behind Mark untill he gifted me the lead shortly after by going wide before Maggots.

We both pitted in the same lap, but I guess he had Haas mechanics as I got out 5 seconds ahead, which I was going to need with hindsight. At first I was surprised Alfrance overtook me during the stops, as he was a bit back before it,so I realised he didn't change tyres. I didn't know if they would go off towards the end of the race, so I had to try and keep pushing. At first I hardly gained anything, but the last 10 laps I was able to close up.
With 100kg it's quite hard to overtake as you lose so much on the straights and acceleration. It slowed me down quite a bit wich gave MJ another go at me. He tried for a Danny Ric style outbraking manoevre into Brooklands, but I was just able to hold on on the inside of Luffield.
In the last lap I thought he would try another move at the Hangar Straight, but luckily for me he backed out of that one.

Time flew by this race and grats to Alfrance for outsmarting us all with the strategy :).

I'm not convinced the weight really makes any difference on the straights. I've always found that AMG to be really slow in a straight line and the Porsche comes off the corner so well that I had momentum. Even with high wing the Porsche is not half bad in a straight line (certainly in AC!)

I must have had a bit too much wing as despite often exiting beckets glued to jeffs gearbox I never had enough oomph to step out of his slipstream and get by..so the Amg isn’t shabby down the straights !
The one time I could have Dan dared him was right at the end of hanger straight but I bottled it in case of contact as it was the last lap.  :P

Well after surviving L1, which always tends to throw up some incidents in the first few corners on this circuit, it all went wrong in L2. At T4 an Audi decided to go for a gap that simply wasn't there. He caught my nsr quarter and spun me into Bob who then also spun, sorry Bob I was just a passenger. In an effort to push on, the Audi then t-boned Bob who was just sitting motionless in the middle of the track. Once Bob had been pushed out of the way, the Audi then carried on its way leaving two innocent victims in its wake. After that it was just a case of trying to make something out of nothing.

Fourth race in a row that I've been rear ended which has cost me race positions on SROUK, hope this isn't going to be a continuing trend.

On a technical aspect I don't think the results are correct, I finished behind NSF55 but in front of Apextechusa. It was wrong on Stracker too. There are other errors which others will no doubt point out.

Sorry for the whining post but it looked like a lot had a good race anyway.

Cheers Chris

Yes, but not plural  :P

I feel like someone brought out the Virtual Safety Car just at the wrong moment. ;)

You need a smaller sister team to cause a VSC  ;).

I'm not convinced the weight really makes any difference on the straights. I've always found that AMG to be really slow in a straight line and the Porsche comes off the corner so well that I had momentum. Even with high wing the Porsche is not half bad in a straight line (certainly in AC!)

The weight really impacts acceleration and the speed lost there won't be gained back, so I think you lose around 5-10kph on the straight. Even the Z4 pulled away out of the corners, and that's not really a grunt machine as well.
Just checked the replay and you started to gain halfway down the straight, our exits were pretty much equal. I think it will be between you and Flavus next round at Spa, be glad you aren't going there with 60kg :).

Had no time to do any practice this week so I just used the setup from last race. Couldn't keep up with the guys in front (I'm blaming my setup and the extra weight for that lol ;D) and had troubles with the soft tires in qualifying.

First half of the race was quite unenventful but after the pitstops I had a good battle with Spanner. Finished P5, still some solid points for me.
Looking forward to next race in Spa and happy to lose some ballast again :D

BTW. Spanner and I finished on P6 and P5, so there's something wrong with the results.

Oh, yes, the results are well messed up. I think I finished 10th, and Simon was 3 cars back after his short holiday
it was Me, SRW, Postal, Simon. according to my display.

Despite not putting much practise in, finally got the car a bit more ot my liking around here, bit more stability on corner entry. Even dropped the wing and seem to have good top speed. Hadnt really acknowledged the lack of entries until i ended up qualifying pretty well, not too far away from the top guys surprisingly, certainly not the usual 3+ seconds.

First half of the race was amazing, partly thanks to a number of offs, but never thought i'd be chasing Jeff and Jonzo and quite comfortably ending up 3rd before the pit stops.  Because of this i decided to try and maximise this by not changing tyres, so ended up slowing massiving on pit entry as i try and navigate the options, even causing NFSW to drive through me!

So to come out in 5th and so far away from the others was a little disheartening, but ended up running with NFSW for the rest of the race which made things interesting. Even when he got past me i could stick with him but sadly couldnt get near him to think of overtaking.

What a great (and lucky!) race last night

I got P2 in the qualy very far from the pole man Flavus, but very very close to P3 Mark!!
My strategy for the race was to shorten as much as possible the pit, so I loaded 100 liter (refuelling 66) and no change of  tyre (medium) hoping they would last till the end...

During the first laps of the race actually I was very surprised to be able to keep Flavus pace, then made a mistake in the Beckett corner and from P2 I found myself in P6, with also a very extraordinary overtake I underwent from the guys in P5 and P6 (I don't remember whom they were) simultaneously passing me one on the left and another on the right at the beginning of the straight after Beckett ... well done guys!! :thumbup1:

After my quick pit I found my self in P1, and when Jeffrey got out from his pit, I could overtake him just for few tenths of a second, during his outpit lap I could gain few seconds more which gave me some breath, my pace was not so bad (even better than before the pit) but Jeff was a bit faster so last couple of laps you were really close to me but 100kg ballast on Mercedes top was maybe too much to have a chance for a safe overtake, even against the BMW Z4  ;)...

So this time a conservative strategy, without any real overtake, was successful, beyond any expectation!!

Thank you guys... and see you at SPA with 60kg more on my back...
Alberto

Congrats to AlFrance for the victory, you drove a great race and picked the best strategy which outsmarted the rest of us, well done mate.
Well done to Jeffrey for second place who continues to outperform in the Merc with 100 kg of beer in the boot.
Special mention for "Purple" Simon who was unlucky with the DSC as he closed on me rapidly in the opening laps.
This Mclaren I am in is great on medium to light loads but it does not like heavy fuel loads and cold tyres.
I am using a setup I got on the internet and I have been reluctant to play with it but I need to get the car handling better with a full tank of fuel.
Hope I can get a more race focused setup tuned in for Spa which I am sure almost everybody enjoys.

I calculated needing 200 litres of fuel  :P. Is there a way to turn off the party mode on this Merc  ;D.

I noted down the race results old fashioned style with pen and paper when the game kicks you out at the end, I will update it tonight as well as the finishing order for the Oulton race which got corrupted as well.

I always enjoy Silverstone, normally I cant stay in touch with anyone at this track but I managed to do similar times to the racers in front of me this time, if it hadn't been for a couple of spins I might have been able to hang on to the back of them, but the Maclaren caught me out a couple of times on oversteer exiting corners.

The finishing order above reflects the results page in AC after the race when the server kicks you out before starting the practice session for the next event. I wrote down the result with pen and paper.

FYI - if this happens again I have now been taught of a method of adjusting the results without deleting all the lap time data etc
