I have a green programme cover showing

Adelaide 32nd Australian GP 1967 and a photo of a #1 Brabham. So I am guessing that this is the "67" version.

Brabham BT11 = Eagle?

No worries, I take the BRM or Honda ;)

I'm stuck at airport. Not sure if I'll get home in time for this race. I will try!

Malcolm: Ensure you are using 60FPS V2 and have Vsync enabled
GPL really throws a wobbler if you don't ;D

thanks Tim, I got to this just as the start flag fell and couldn't join. I missed it by less time than it too Vettel to steal a win from Hamilton!!!  :o

I've got it all set now.

Bring on the next race :)

Happy with my effort. Both sub1m30s laps in quali and race, not too shabby in the green whale :)

But sadly after the start there was a big crash and had to drive alone whole race, apart from lapping cars, who were great for me. Clive drove a very respectable time in quali, and thought I might have my hands full early race.

Well done Dean and Clive for podium! :)

Great to see Malcolm online, thanks all for racing! ;)

I made a Hakkinen in Lap 5 and lost over 20 Seconds there with stopn'go.

Another Spin later didn't put me back in the fights for podium.

The level of competition in memory of Joe is always intense, and I hope that we do his memory justice in the only way that we can in our "virtual" world. For me the racing last night was as tough as ever.

Good to see Malcolm on the grid, even overcoming technical issues during quallfication to get his GPL/PC rig working!!. I think I speak for all of us simracers when I say that we respect your participation, especially because these races are in Joe's memory.
Also, it is very brave of you to get on track with the 67 cars ( which are the ultimate challenge in GPL) against a grid of experienced drivers who are seriously fired up for this series.

Sorry Doni about the UK time change, TBH I almost missed the hour change myself!!!  It was only because TV coverage of the F1 race in Melbourne started at the "wrong" time, or so I thought until I checked. In my case I plead old age.

Grats on the win Robert, I had hoped to at least make you work ( just a little perhaps??) during the race, although I doubt that I could have finished ahead of you. The start went well for the first 200mtrs and I backed off to follow your BRM through the chicane, realising that you had a tight line and would be slower. As we exited the left right flick I was expecting to settle into chasing the tailpipes of a BRM for many laps, but instead I got a tap on the rear from a following car and was half spun into the wall. I then became a pinball as I bounced back from the wall and got hit again...and again...and again. Ending up further down the track, parked facing the wrong way and stuck in the haybales requiring a Shift/R.
So from 2nd on the grid to almost last...I think Malcolm played the true gentleman driver and allowed me to rejoin the race ahead of him!! Well any plans about bothering Robert's BRM were dropped and it was all about 10/10ths driving to regain some places. Gradually I picked off places until I came across Tim in his Cooper who proved reluctant to give me his position, can't understand why?? We swapped places over several laps, each making mistakes and errors as we pushed to the limit.

I knew that I had to keep things very smooth with my setup to keep the rear tyre temps in the sensible range, but when you have Tim in a Cooper all over your a**, it is difficult to remember that the swamp needs draining!!  The tyre temps soared and the handling ( and pace) vanished until I could squeeze a gap and get things under control again and get the laptimes into the low 1:30's...still not fast enough to match Robert's FL.
I crept up to 3rd place and started getting glimpses of Dean who was in 2nd spot and not too far ahead. Maybe if I push a little I could get back to 2nd ? Bad move!! Instead of maintaining the pace that was slowly reeling in Dean until I could actually fight for 2nd I tried too hard and suffered for it. Twice I think I got within 250 mtrs of Dean, only to overheat the rears and spin under braking.  After all these years in GPL I really ought to know better!! and I ended up stuck in the sand requiring a second Shift/R and yet another SnG....that took all the heat off of Dean!! and almost dropped me back into the clutches of Tim's Cooper! :o

Thanks to all those who took part in this 1st round. I hope that we get a few more drivers, and maybe full grids??, for the next 2 races.

A hard track to master in the 67 cars. I did enough practice to work out the circuit suited the Brabham & couldn't get more from the Lotus. There seemed to be very fine margin between optimum braking & running wide or spinning the car in several corners. Due to the start incident I briefly ran in 4th. This lasted until I got out of shape in one corner & bumped into a very sticky gravel trap. Robert was supremely quick & lapped me twice. Despite all the above it was entertaining. Hope for a few more entries, although not sure if I can make the next one

Thanks for that Clive. To me the Pole should always be on the racing line, rather than on the inside/tight line. The start here is very hard, and often it results in wrecks. Same for another leaguerace here recently. I'd say because you went out of shape, you didn't realize Bob was on the inside, or you had lost control a bit. To me it wasn't Bob's fault at all, but that's just my opinion ;)

I'm trying my best in every league/series to get in the mix, taking slower cars. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Beating Hristo's old Honda racerecord in a BRM is pretty good :) I can't put into words how much fun it is to still be improving with 67s at the rate I do. I tried to give my best performance last night, in remembrance of Joe.

I wish you could tell us when you intend to stop improving Robert.  :-\ Just when I think that you cannot go any faster, you clip another second off the laptimes!!
No issues with the contact, in fact I have not even bothered to look at the replay to see who it was. With a start like Adelaide and the tight Esses, it is almost inevitable that someone gets tagged........just bad luck that it was me  :(

If I am honest, I was half trying to get the power down early and sneak a pass before the next corner, just so that I could claim to have held 1st place for part of the race.

Terrible race from me, several contacts, some of which were my fault.  It was me who made contact with you just after the start Clive, though you did veer across and my reactions weren't fast enough to avoid you.  If it's any consolation I was also stuck in a bale and had to Sft+r to rejoin at the back.  I fought back past a few others who had a coming together, but I was struggling to concentrate and kept spinning.  Around half distance I was coming up to lap Fran, who seemed to be trying to race me, closing the door, etc and I hit him from behind then pushed him aside in the aftermath.  Sorry Fran, I underestimated your braking.

For the second half of the race I played a game of catching Andreas, overtaking him then crashing and repeating!  I had some pace but was making mistakes all over the place, need to calm down!

Cheers for organizing,

Bob.

Congrats Rob!

So, where is the immovable object to stop the irresistible force that Rob is becoming?

I hope to be racing with you guys again some day.

Take care and have fun guys.

To be fair my BRM fast lap was still half a second off the verified WR (on track). ;) There are some very fast guys scattered around some leagues I don't race online, but I can't join/race them all.

Take care Greg!

The startcrash i mostly avoided by sticking to the left.

2 laps to go, i nearly hit fran after the invisible fast kink, lying on his head himself.
