Title: UKGTL Season 19 - Three spare slots
Post by: Wiltshire Tony on May 03, 2018, 01:40:08 PM +0100
It currently looks like we may have three empty slots which could be used for a short championship.

Any suggestions?

I will say that we do not have any 50's races scheduled if that helps  ;)

But by all means suggest things. No promises, but all suggestions will be given serious consideration.

Cheers

Tony, am I away with the Piskies again, I recall many moons ago a Series with the BMW M3 or was it called a 320 M3?

Put me out of my misery! ::)

Might of been BMW Group-5 E21 320i. I'll try and find the series.

EDIT: May of been this series https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=257&theme=5

Perhaps a series celebrating a car like we did with the Ford GT40.

We haven't used the Shelby Daytona Coupe for ages

Thanks Tony. That must have been the one I was thinking of! A lot of drivers there who don't race GTL with us any more.

Can we race these cars at Donny Nat?

Like the race you suggested for Readers Drives IIRC? https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=7851#event2142

As there are 3 slots, how about using the 3 original classes in GTL, (TC65, GTC65 & GTC-TC76), & have a race for each using the default cars, we don't tend to use the original cars very much now. Call it something like GTL Originals Cup.

Great idea  :thumbup2:

And Bill's request can be included. Geoffers, did you mean all of the original cars or just ones we haven't used in years? Because the Shelby Daytona would qualify for the GTC65 class.

Sounds like a plan then. Sorry Bill we won't be able to rum your Beemer this time.

Any one want to suggest three tracks (one for each class)?

While we are on the subject of new series Tony and I, mostly Tony, have put together a series using American V8 muscle cars.  Some new cars not used here before and some used before in the past you guys are familiar with.  Also the same with the tracks some used in the past in the Trans Am and Can Am series and some newer.  Hope you guys enjoy this.  Track list  is available here but subject to change.   https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=642&theme=5     Format is two races per Wednesday, two Divisions, 60's cars and 70's, with limited drives in each cars so you are forced to drive them all if you run all the races.  Pick your cars well for the track, because some of the cars are not very compatable for some of the tracks.  Any complaints go directly to Tony LOL

To continue the "original" theme of the series we perhaps should consider using original tracks.

I would propose Donington GP for the TC-65's, Imola for the GTC-65's and Watkins Glen for the GTC-TC-76's
