Season 33 Historic Trophy - Round 4 – Syracuse

Round 4 will be held on the road course at Syracuse, Sicily. A narrow circuit with plenty of stone walls if you get it wrong.
The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.  Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.  

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

Drivers must complete 50% of each race to score.
Only reported incidents will be moderated, there is no Red Zone.

Handicapping and chassis allocation.
This season the Historics will be using a token system which allows drivers to purchase any chassis of their choice, 2 litre or 3 litre, for a given number of tokens as published on the championship standings page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=640&theme=6). Drivers classed as Amateurs will be allocated an additional 10 tokens.  The token allocation will not be managed in SRou this season so (unlike the 67F1 Works and 67F1 Privateer divisions) the tokens available to each driver will not appear in the championship table (when the mouse pointer is hovered over the driver's total).  Rather, the available tokens will be published in the race announcement.  See below.

Only 22 laps ?

I am not the fastest driver but I did 1mn45sec a lap, and the best at GPLrank in mod66 are in 1'39 - 1'41 so 22 laps equal around 37 mn

Was not my choice, I only added the tokens...

Now I made 30 laps ;)

Will have to miss this event due to the football.

Please keep an eye on the 66 registrations for Ziu Bacubacu, who races at UKGTL but wants to race with UKGPL too. He has PM'd me to say he might register today to join the 66 race at Syracuse.

 He is very quick in GTL but he is new to GPL, so maybe start him as an Am and see how he performs?

If there is no extra-time (after the usual 90 mn), it should be ok for this race.

begin of football : 19:00 (uk time)
end : 19:00 + 2*00:45 + 2*00:05 + 00:15 =20:55

so it looks ok for 35 mn qualification from 20:55 - 21:30
and the for race starting at 21:30

If everybody agrees we could start qualification 30 minutes later if there is extra-time ?

Hi all, already i vote poll but if i have do someone else things to get registration, please say to me.

Clive said that i m fast with GTL but after i tried GPL i understood that GTL is a joke.

First goal is finish race, the place is last things. Too much i have learn about GPL, i hope the next races will are useful  ::)

I have not done any practice so even if the football finishes after 90 mins I won't be racing tonight. Probably best if you start at the advertisrd time.

Axel, I went on the server and it was ok but I seen that I could go in without any password, it s free

to look at pribluda i have touched the wall,the rest of the race was with a damaged front.After 20 laps i have abbandoned,too difficult to drive.

I have always thought of Pribluda as the "Crash Utility"!  Hard luck.

I don't usually feel it's right to comment on a series I'm not registered for but Congrats to Ziu on his 3rd place and Podium 1st time out. Some great racing with Clive until his demise and later Dean.. Welcome to GPL Ziu, hope your arm wasn't too sore after the race.. :)

John if I have to talk about my arm you know that it always hurts and I can not heal, but the most important thing is that despite everything yesterday I had fun ..... and when one has fun it is as if he had won  :D

If I speak in a technical way of the race I can say that I took the Ferrari 246 on Sunday night to have some confidence with the track and the only thing that I modified was the suspension and the balance of the brakes, the rest I left in default. I have reconstructed two negative things and a positive thing. The first negative thing is that for now when I see the parameters of the setup is as if I had in my hands a Rubik's cube to solve (not easy for me), the second negative is that during the first half of the race I did not go bad with the full of fuel, the problems started when Ferrari got lighter, Clive and DLogan improved their lap time, I do not! With Clive I could resist, my Ferrari was a bit faster than its Brabham on straights but with DLogan the only thing I can do is congratulate on the nice overtaking! At present the worst opponent I have is myself. The positive thing is that if I can solve the Rubik's Cube, I know how much I can improve.

Grats Ziu!! a podium in your first race is a great result  ;D. To even finish your first race with GPL is something that not many drivers can achieve.

I was really enjoying our battle, but my little 2 litre Brabham just could not match the power of your  246 Ferrari. I could lap faster than you on a clear track because I was just a little quicker through some of the corners......plus maybe I have a little more experience in GPL cars  ;).

I could see Dean closing on each lap and when he caught our battle, he was just too fast to prevent the pass  :-\  I was hoping to tuck into Dean's slipstream but even that was difficult with the underpowered Brabham.

Then I ran wide and hooked a couple of wheels into the sticky hay bales. I tried just a little too hard to escape and over revved the engine, so that when I did get free the engine was bust!!! top speed about 25mph  :-\ So I rolled around to the pits and parked it.

I've loaded the chassis the drivers used into the token calculator spreadsheet.  For the next race the available tokens will be as declared in the table below (the table will also appear in the next race announcement).  The calculated values are automated but selecting the cars is a manual process so please check your tokens to make sure I haven't made a silly error.  There was no token overspend for this round so no one is disqualified.
