I'm pretty certain I'm home for that - I'm definitely not racing in GPL - and will hopefully have a new sequential shifter ready in time ;D

Cool, make sure you mount it on your left side, got to keep it as real as possible!

You don't need to mention it - in VR doing anything other than that is almost painful!

These cars are impressive, nicely done mod  :) the sound and view with the rift was pretty impressive, I was almost deafened by the v8 and transmission  :o

Tough track to learn with new cars with all those blind crests  :o hope I can make it.

you're a Ford man or a Holden man MJ?

Only tried the Holden so far and liked it. I’m assuming the cars are evenly matched?

They are apparently identical, it's just the skin looks different

Just been on the practice server and have no ballast again. Last time only Alberto had ballast in the race, which seems a bit unfair! Maybe better to scrap ballast for everyone if there's a problem?

So any setup tips for these beasts? Only super soft and soft tyres available? I keep oversteering off at a lot of corners despite upping the wing to 12 and softening rear ARB a tad  :-\
I’m guessing the slicks need a couple of laps to get heat in them but my tyre app doesn’t work for these cars.

These cars are a bit quirky indeed, but a lot of fun. Been on the practice server yesterday and I think I have a baseline setup cooked up. I will send you what I have MJ.

Also this track has a lot of flowing high speed corners, which requires a little bit more finesse going from power to coasting/braking.

In my wrestling with my PC at the weekend, and my inability to realise I could have just re-assigned the axes, I have lost my controller/ FFB settings. Which may have contributed to my inability to drive this combo. I loaded up my Melbourne set as a starting point but no matter what I ended up changing didn't really seem to help so a setup would be a good as a starting point!

The number of times I ended up going off on my out-lap going through the first corner! I lost count! It does take a few laps for the tyres to start gripping that's for sure. Understeering off the track from the hairpins, and the strict off track limits meant I don't think I put a time on the server.

I don't think I had ballast when I joined the server either.

Seems like we are unable to consistently control the ballast.  I will stop using it until we can workout if there is a way to get it working

make sure to practise a pitlane approach....its tight!  :o

got a few more laps in this eve and got a little more familiar with an un-familiar car and track.  Don't like the two tight corners here, far better suited to MotoGP than Aussie tanks  :P
T1 is a hoot though with how brave you dare take it with the car moving about and can easily lose or gain a few tenths there.

Err I was wrong, when I joined last night I did have the extra ballast. Might be worth just double checking the correct ID's are being used.

Still cant get on with this, Tried out my Adelaide setup which was a bit stiffer I think, but the tyres even starting at the lowest pressures are going orange after a few laps. Tricky balancing the extra stability needed and the need ot allow the car to roll to get round the tight hairpins.

Maybe a new track in AC land, but we've used it before in GTL, maybe P&G

Nope, still wrong.
I just joined and found myself in heimgartner's car with 60kgs of ballast.
Last time I was on the server I seemed to be in the right car.

That was fantastic. Even though I have a few teething problems that need fixing/re-engineering, the new sick really performed. It was nice to be able to absolutely hammer the thing down the gears without worrying I might break it - really added to the immersion  8)

As for the race I qualified well, started ok and then ran about an inch too wide in T2 on the 2nd lap.
I had great fun catching back through the field, sorry to Matt I think it was for my hilariously sideways pass. I hadn't moved the brakes forward quickly enough as my tires warmed up and lost the back end into siberia.

It's a shame we lost Itamar early on as wasn't sure I could catch back up in time and was looking forward to finding out.

Look forward to the next round, hope the missing guys can make it to up the numbers a bit!

Final note :
I didn't have my car for some reason?  I was in some random skin from the look of things - should have been in Rick kelly's 2018 car..

Indeed a very good race. Just a shame we didn't had the pace to be a threat to FMG. I thought I might get back on his tail after the pit stops, but that wasn't the case.

The first few laps where really good. After FMG's little spin Frex had the run on me and made a solid pass. We tried to stay with Itamar, but we could not get onto his bumper. After some laps Frex had out braked himself and I could regain my second place. Unfortunately Itamar had a disco half way, that gave me back the lead.

Now FMG got passed again and I had to fend off Frex for most of the race until the checkered flag, which made it a pretty intense race for me. Thanks for racing lads. Looking forward to Barbagallo!

Remember this track from GTL days, but it seemed a lot easier then..! Struggled to get a good balance and to properly get the correct line in some corners, especially the last half of the lap. And just knew I was going to off at T2 at some point..! Good race again with Stefan however, really enjoyed it.

Congrats FMG and Stefan.

Sorry I couldn’t make it in the end, as I feared  :(
Sunday’s are not easy for me to make it but will race when I can.

it was good to be back in the V8's after the extra week break. Phillip Island is a very unforgiving circuit if you run wide, but very satisfying if you get it right. After only managing half an hours practice I just about started feeling comfortable and was not as far off the pace as I thought I would be and had a bit of close racing when people fell off and rejoined.

The next round is at Barbagallo Raceway, the scene of our test race earlier in the year.

Hello guys. Sorry for the late post.
My race was started well. I have made some gap to 3rd place after the first lap and all was left to do was keep my safe lines, pit on time and finish the race at 2nd. After the spin of FullMetalGasket (sorry, I don't your name yet. Can you please tell me?) I didn't plan to change anything but my concentration level was starting to fade after 3 or 4 laps and u was starting to miss my marks and I understood that sooner or later every one will catch up. But then I lost my connection. So frustrating.
Hope it will last all the evening on next race.
See you guys :)
