Thanks FMG

The practice server is up and running. QR is an easy to learn track, lots of slow point and squirt corners.

Okidoki. I used the RD link posted by FMG..

Maybe a fairly easy layout, but I do like it. Especially the first turns are quite a handful and fast! And possibly some overtaking spots too. Now we just need some more folks to overtake..  :P

The top link ends up taking you to the RD one - As that is largely scratch built for AC (And seems very accurate) I'd be cautious if the intended track is just a port from somewhere else.

Yes, more drivers would certainly make for a fun night here as it's easy to learn.

I intended to use the following version:

http://www.mediafire.com/file/jjujvupqd39qyup/queensland.rar

From memory the RD version had a problem with the pit boxes not working properly.

I have reset the server with the above track. Unfortunately I don't have time to log on and check it until tomorrow.

I will update the race post after I have confirmed this works ok

When I tried the RD link version I did not encounter any bugs offline. Then I was not really looking for something bugged though. Might have a moment tonight to check it a bit further.

The problem I encountered was when I entered the pitlane:

You normally see a bright red box indicating where your pit location is, the RD version didn't have one so there was nowhere to stop for pitstops.

Aha, well I could enter the pits normally and stop at my box with the red arrow. I had only 10 AI cars on track though.

Don't know if Frex, Larry, Spanner and Itamar are also joining us for this one, but i am hoping a few of the regulars come and join the fun.

unfortunately my PC or AC is playing up at the moment so I cant sort out the problem with QR on the server.

I have set the server up with the following version of QR:

http://www.mediafire.com/file/jjujvupqd39qyup/queensland.rar

is anyone able to log on and confirm if this works ok and that you can see your red pitbox marker when entering the pits.

Im off to reload drivers in an attempt to get AC working again  >:(

Title: Re: UKAC V8 Supercars - Queensland - Oct 28
Post by: SRW on October 26, 2018, 12:00:28 AM +0100
managed to get AC 'firing on all 8 again'.

I have tried the track version above online and it works ok. I have also done a quick comparison with the RD version. The RD version has a bit more eye candy, but I haven't noticed much else difference between the two, so unless anybody has any strong objections to using the above track I will update the race post tomorrow night to use this version.

Might help if people posted up setups somewhere as this has been my biggest issue with these. never feel like the tyres are in contact directly with the tarmac; for big heavy cars this cant be right.

Not sure about turning up. Still awaiting the hand-bolts i ordered to easily bolt the wheel to my desk. And i need to drill my desk which i'm not looking forward to.

There must be a way you can drill and mount the wheel to a sheet of wood, then just use G clamps to clamp the wood to the desk when you want to use the wheel?

So i need to find a piece of word, cut and shape it and drill two conterbored holes, and thats easier than drilling two holes? no!

Here's my setup from last race - I havn't installed this weeks track yet so am as in the dark as you guys still here ;)

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/u7aejb65y0m1dtk/AAASULk_1_YSZKhf5Yyfbi8Sa?dl=0 (https://www.dropbox.com/sh/u7aejb65y0m1dtk/AAASULk_1_YSZKhf5Yyfbi8Sa?dl=0)

I'm pretty certain that all you need to do is take the 2 files from the Nissan folder and then drop them into the folder for whatever you're driving.
The setups can be found as follows:

C:\Users\*your profile name*\Documents\Assetto Corsa\setups\supercars_*your manufacturer*\*the queensland directory*

The setup should then be visible for you.
If you want to have a go with them at Hidden Valley to compare with your previous setup and times, then either load them from the Queensland directory in game or drop copies into:
C:\Users\*your profile*\Documents\Assetto Corsa\setups\supercars_*your manufacturer*\fvr_hidden_valley

I'll probably install and try this other version of Queensland later today, although I found I had a pitbox in the RD version too (although that is very bumpy in places!)

Hope to see you all tomorrow night

This isnt entirely true. I've tried downloading V8 setups from setupmarket in the past. If you open up the setup file in a text editor, the last line specifies the car its for. This needs to be changed to the name of the car you want.

The author of the track may have updated the download. If Picnic is around he might be able to shed some light on it. When I have forced the kids in to bed I will try putting it on the server again myself.

Yup, just had a quick few laps no problem.
Aside from the eye candy it's not a patch on the other version - turns 1 & 2 are wrong, won't annoy anyone who's not seen any races here but it's bugging me big time having to lift for a kink that doesn't exist in real life!  :D

Tried a few laps offline with FMG's setup. Thanks for posting it.

Interesting setup, far softer springs than i'd been running, feels like it rolls a bit too much lol. But you do have the mechanical grip and it allows it to turn in the corners. I guess it was what i was aiming for but never went as far as this.

I continue have the problem with checksum, I downloaded the correct track version too.
Maybe I 've another version of V8 supercars mod (from web site I had "V8Scorsa_2018_v2 .7z"). I'm trying to download the 1.1v, but I don't find a link for that.  :-\

Only just seen this Fabri - my collection of install files doesn't really make sense so I can't upload them..

Instead I've uploaded my car folders from the content directory in AC to Dropbox:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/d6kfpgno5m1ytdn/V8s.rar?dl=0 (https://www.dropbox.com/s/d6kfpgno5m1ytdn/V8s.rar?dl=0)

Go into your 'content/cars' folder and delete the 3 Supercars directories.
Then just copy mine in - don't simply over-write as I don't think that will guarantee it will work.
I'm only running the 2k skins to help my GFX card out a bit in the Rift, but as it works OK on my PC then it should fix your checksum errors too and let you on tonight :)

It works now, thank you a lot, FMG!

With this version i have not problem with tyres overheating (in 2.7v was huge).
I don't know if is possible choise a skin in this series, if yes I will take: Commodore 002_Pye_2017R01 (black and red).

During pit stop is mandatory change tyres?

PS: thanks anyway, SRW.

This was my first race with this kind of cars, absolutely a rokie. I wanted to try something special (and far) and never done, not even seen on TV.
These beasts are funny to drive and I think that people should give them more interest. In any case they are not easy to understand, they require a good driving skills and good knowledge.

Race: my race was more a test that a competition. I did some practice but with the wrong mod version (really different on tyres). On first laps I was close to Stefan and I thought I could pass him, but I was wrong. I started making mistakes and probably overheating tyres (I don't use the tires app in races for realism). A lot of mistakes in braking/entering; I didn't follow FMG's tip about brake bias.
The last lap was very adrenaline because I was running out of fuel, I had to do it very slowly.

I hope to be more competitive for next race, with more practice and a better knowledge of the vehicle.

I suggest also to other players to try this series.

you are right Fabri, these are fun to drive. And you did pretty well for a first timer! I also thought you where going to make a pass on me in the early laps. My setup was not the best on cold tires.
I also tried the harder soft compound, but that was a rather useless option. Perhaps on a very different spring setup it makes sense.

Looking forward to Eastern Creek as I don't recall having driven their before.
