Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: Note early race start time.

Aaaaargh??!!!  Just realised that this race is for tomorrow!! :scared:

Plus, how did I end up 3rd in the championship ?????  So that I have the joy of a handicap lol ? Is my ineptitude not handicap enough??  ::)

I have a spare hour right now to go and d/load Norisring ( another new circuit I think? ) and scare myself some more!

We already raced here more than once, Clive  ;) but I'm a bit frightened how long ago it was  :wheelchair:

Ah! I remember it now that I have run a few laps.

I think Kurt has posted my first ever race in UKGTL where I was a mobile chicane and moveable hazard on each lap. I recall seeing the name "Coyote" and deciding that I would try and pace myself against him...what a hope lol !! I had no idea that this Coyote character was having a bad day at the back of the field, and that he was normally one of the podium contenders!!

I also remember those Capris...….more ruddy slick tyres and technology  :-\

Not a great fan of such a track => more uncompetitive than ever  :-[
on top of that some PC issues:
   1. do not allow me to train a bit more
   2. may not even be solved today...
so again I will not be with you tonight  :(

That was great fun while it lasted, early laps hit barriers and bounced off into Dominic (sorry) then car flipped but righted itself continued on but damage was done, lap 30+  engine gave out.

Grats

I have finally admitted defeat  :-\ !!

I struggle with the more modern cars anyway ( I'm not that good with the older stuff, but at least I enjoy those lol!! ). But last night the problems with my wheel and gearshift crossed the line and eventually I was forced to quit before I destroyed someone else's race.

Qually was a series of occassional good laps, followed by bad laps with no consistency , but nowhere near Geoffers' time on this short track  :notworthy:.

2nd on the grid flattered me and I was hoping that I might be able to follow Geoffers and steal a podium place. However... ::) when the flag dropped and I asked for 1st gear, I got 3rd!!!! Apologies to anyone involved in the chaos behind.

I tried to climb back up through the field but it was getting increasingly difficult with gearchanges becoming . I also suspect that I damaged the suspension over a kerb when I had to try and correct a slide from a double downshift.

After almost taking out Tony, Kurt, Dominick plus maybe a few others, I got the message and hit the "ESC" key  :-\.

A new wheel, shifter and pedals has been ordered on the interweb.....unfortunately that means I will have no more excuses!!

You worry too much, Clive.  :)
There was no chaos behind you. I had no problem getting past you and although I'm of course not speaking for them, the replay doesn't show issues for Kurt or Tony either.
I didn't even lose a place! At least, not at the start. While practice and qualy were good for me, the car didn't feel right in the race, especially the brakes. In the early laps, twice I had to throw my car towards the barrier to avoid a car in front because my naughty Beemer simply forgot to decelarate. Clive, Roger and Kurt got past. I still couldn't find my qualy pace and it's only through mistakes and hiccups from the aforementioned gentlemen that I got back in 4th. Shout-out to Roger: Damn shame your car was crippled from such low speed contact -with the barrier and me (there was no way to avoid it by the way  :(). GTL can be quite cruel in that respect if not illogical.
Things went a bit better after that and I noticed I was closing in on Matt. Hmm, would third still be possible? No, it wasn't. Despite putting heavy pressure on Matt for 30-35 laps, he didn't flinch. I only managed two actual overtake attempts. The first one was ill advised and over ambitious and shouldn't have been made. Sorry about that, Matt. Overtaking by nudging you out of the way was not the goal. The second one was when Matt had his only small hiccup in the entire chase and had a less than optimal corner exit in the hairpin before the chicane. I managed to get side by side before the chicane but took a line far too wide into it and lost the temporary advantage. There just was no way past.
Geoffers could easily have lapped us but he decided to watch the epic battle from the best seat in the house, i.e. right behind us. Much appreciated, Geoff. Also, from the view from your car in the replay it looks like you're on a casual Sunday stroll while two people were giving everything they got. Not a fast guy, eh?

Yes was very entertaining watching the battle between you & Matt, tried to keep a bit of a gap between us so you didn't think I was looking to get past.
After Monaco I was expecting a close race here as it is not a difficult track with most of it just acceleration & braking, so being so much quicker was most surprising. Got away at the start & quickly pulled a gap on Fulvio, just concentrated on keeping a good rhythm & just eased the pace a little when I caught Matt & Dom.

Congrats to Fulvio & Matt on the podium   bad luck to all who met misfortune.  :(

Just curious. Was anyone using the advanced setup thingy? if so does it let you reduce wing?

I was, and it does. Well it has a number you can reduce/increase but I've never actually tested it, to see if it really does anything.

"You worry too much, Clive. "

Nice of you to say that Dominick and maybe my quitting might be seen as a little OTT.
But throughout my chequered history of simracing, (and it is very chequered ;) )I have always tried to work on the principle that we all do this for fun. So, if I feel that my driving is poor, or my car is so damaged that it is likely to spoil someone else's enjoyment, I will remove myself from the race.

As regards the "Advanced Setup" page and the wing? I tried max and min settings, and as far as the Procar and my driving ability is concerned, I could not discern any great difference. Maybe on a track like Avus or Le Sarthe, it might be worth running low wing angles? Basically I have found a setup that sort of functions and I use it for all races, just adjust the gear ratios.

As Clive & Tony said, yes you can adjust the wing angle, presumably the higher number gives more wing (supposedly). I usually adjust it to suit the track but I have never really tested it to know if it makes any difference! May give it a try before Brands.

PS: Just out of interest did you try my setups from last week again Clive, if so did it make any difference?

I did try a few laps with your setups Geoff and although ( as you suspected ) they were not entirely to my liking, they were at least as quick but more stable. So I have looked at the differences between what I had and your setups to try and understand the physics. Later I will look at the replay and see how you were using what you had  :shifty:

I ran out of time for a comprehensive test programme, but one thing I did learn on the Mazda, was that having 100% brakes with a slight rear bias, which sounds like a good idea, is probably not recommended.
Once that 100% parameter is reduced and locking brakes are avoided, the rear bias can be increased and that helps turn in  ;). A sort of balancing act?

I have  a wedding to attend over the weekend and apparently there is some intensive gardening planned  :o. I tried the ruse of having "treated" the grass with special additive which requires a week before any cutting should be done  ::), but that simply allowed tasks to be re directed towards other areas  :-\

I was also delaying any major research until the old wheel was retired. My new wheel/pedals etc are due for delivery on 24th, which is posh nosh day  in Salisbury, so probably won't be able to get that working before the evening's race :-\, even if we make it home in time. Maybe that is Tony's cunning plan? To delay our departure and encourage over indulgence so that we are unable to contest the evening's event?.........sneaky huh? :shifty:
