Please remind me.  If my car is a tad wonky, can I drive into the pits and do a shift-r without making another stop for a stop-n-go?

First of all - I'm not an official spokesperson for the rules :)

But no,  feel free to reset anywhere,  but will still need to enter the pits for a stop & go within 2 laps.

Of course, you could try what you are suggesting - but you may well end up with an 'incorrect pitstop' time penalty (or disqualification!) :)

Cheers,
Dave.

This is my view on taking Shift/R in the pitlane voluntarily, but I would add the caveat that it is down to the moderator in any race.

I have always understood that, when they are allowed, taking a Shift/R anywhere on the track requires that a SnG is taken within 2 laps.
Except where a driver limps back to the pits and performs a Shift/R there.
The reasoning being that driving a wounded car back to the pits + the effect of stopping for the Shift/R and getting up to speed on cold tyres and full fuel covers the penalty.

When you do a shift+r in the pits you will be put on the track doing this,
so there is no exit of the pits but a sudden standing on a race line maybe!

In such a case I do make a shift+r at the slowest point of the track and then a conform s+g.

Limping back to the pits & taking a SNG would be an incorrect SnG. As this is not a full blown series championship I might moderate such a scenario with some discretion.  If you are looking for authenticity driving a 3 wheeler for half a lap, taking a shift R 10 yards before the pit lane & ducking straight into the pits for a SnG is quite acceptable.

Sorry for my recent absences. Trying to rig up a new desk & race seat combo in the new abode, will re-appear when I've got something solid.

It was an impressive race of Pelle, he disappeared !!!! :notworthy:

I did a 100% run without error and managed to get past Axcel ...... but during the race he was faster and got second place at the end.

If the driver misses Hockenhein takes a long time to recover, I think this was the problem of the other drivers.

What a great track for 67 cars. The drift through the Ost curve was quite awesome.

That was dreadful for me.  I think that I bit off more than I could chew with the Honda and couldn't keep it on the tarmac for more than a few laps.

I always did need a Lotus to cope with aliens!

My first spin came on lap one, when I was expecting to be rear ended on the way into the stadium and paid too much attention to where the cars behind might be so that I forgot to concentrate enough on getting myself around the corner!  Doh!

I got disco'd at the end of qually and just made it to join the back of the grid.     My sights were set on Clive's Honda up ahead, but I also knew that this was a track where without a tow, you just cannot keep up. A few people had problems ahead, Clive was one of them and I passed him .

I think there were 3 consecutive laps where I had caught cars through the stadium and was looking forward to a lovely slipstream down the long straight. But 3 different cars and 3 different laps the car I was planning on slipstreaming, caught me out by braking far earlier than I was for T1. I had to take avoiding action and found myself trimming the grass so short that you could play snooker on it!!!

After that I could see cars ahead and I could close up through the stadium but a mistake on the fuel meant I was carrying an extra 10 galls of fuel and each time we hit the main straight I just could not match their acceleration. For lap after lap I chased them but just could not get the tow.......... :taz: :taz:

It was nice to drive the Waza again, just wish that I had checked the fuel tank before the start. :-\

Grats to the podium and all those who made it to the finish.

Mixed race for me, Hadn't had much time to practice so was pleased to have got into the 1:53's in Q, Lined up 6th on the grid and we were off. Lost ground on the leaders and had Greg breathing down my neck. Decided my defence was killing both our lap times so tried to let him past by running wide off track between the final 2 turns to let him through but he followed me and as I slowed hit me from behind spinning me around. The car didn't feel right after that. Oversteer on right handers and understeer when turning left really hurt me through the stadium section.  Slowly came to terms with it but not until late race by whch time I was down in 7th chasing Dave's Lotus. Managed to wring the Ferrari's kneck and stay in contact down the straights and make up a bit through the Ost curve, but couldn't get close enough to make a serious challenge without taking us both out so was content to bring it home and score a few points after my recent DNF's.

Thanks guys, A blast as usual.

TTFN
John.

After my disaster race at Zeltweg - Honda is 'mission impossible' on fast tracks - & after calendar, I must have forgotten Road America ???...my choice for Hochenheim was Ferrari.

Grats Cookie & Jonny :thumbup2:

Qual:
My first attempt on this track in Ferrari & started to copy an Eagle setup, not good & copied my Ferrari setup from Monza, changed gearbox & more...it all ended up, perfect & Pole :D

Race:
The start was a bit scary because, my 2nd gear was heavy & fearing to lose a place before T1 or on the long side due to sleepstream, it went better than expected. After lap 1 it became a bit lonely, but kept 100% concentration & drove a perfect race with an incredibly good setup. The only thing I feared was the engine, came up at 106c.

Unfortunate with some misunderstandings & those who did not come home completely :( Grats & Thx to you all here from Hockenhiem :thumbup1:

Congrats Pelle, Axel, and Jonny!

That one was a bit of a pain. My ISP wasn't working correctly. I couldn't get a race list from iGOR, my email wasn't working, and half of the websites I tried to access would time out. It was funny that I joined in the Eagle with little trouble, but when I tried with the Ferrari and Brabham I kept getting timed out messages. The quality of my signal was lousy too. I thought I might have to stay far from other drivers but luckily, I didn't see any bad warping. I hope others didn't see me warping a lot.

My apologies for the bump John. I am glad that you were trying to let me pass. I thought you were but I wasn't sure. I'd hope that if the quality of my connection were better you wouldn't have suffered so much from the bump. If you're curious, I always take a wide line between the two last turns, like a parabola. I wish I'd have done better and avoided you.

I had a little trouble with Axel too but it's understandable. He was trying to get out of my way while I had committed to going to the right. I tried to go further and further right but it didn't work. I wish I could have avoided that mistake. That might have let me race with Axel and Jonny later.

The Brabham worked decent. I wasn't able to practice before qualifying and it took me a while to connect to the server. I had just enough time to tune the setup decently. A few more minor changes would have had it in great shape.

I am enjoying driving the Brabham. If I keep working on it, some day I might be able to drive it as well as the Ferrari. I'm still not real good handling the torque of the Brabham and Lotus.

Thanks for letting me race with you. Take care guys.

Disgusting Andreas Gebhardt
Shoot me off in Road America, last lap, no chance to overtake there,
stupid comments "i had to try." with smilies. VERY FUNNY.
He does not report the incident by himself.

But now on the Hockenheim track side by side race accident accusing me to shoot of.

just disgusting. I will report every Sh*t you make from now on and will not give you any inch more than needed

Bagrupp, Angex

Gentlemen, you have obviously had a disagreement about an on-track incident that will not be resolved by arguments on the forums. Before this escalates and someone posts something in anger that they may regret in the future, please bear in mind the court system employed by the moderators is intended to resolve differences of opinion amicably and impartially. Please think carefully about what you post about any incident and if in any doubt please raise an incident report.

The objective of the court system is to ensure the drivers enjoy the races and the moderators address any disagreements.

Hi Phil,
fully agree with you. Have not started a discussion here at the forum. First I thought also not to reply to Mr. Grupp´s post and ignore it. And thats what I will do in the future. Already reported the incident, so everyone will see the outcome of it.
