You were right, the default setup feels fine. I didn't even give it a shot first time and immediatly downloaded setups, but those were a handful.

I only changed tyre pressure, rest is all default. Not sure if I'm going to change anything, as it might just make it worst.

Tried a few laps with defaults on server. Shame i lose about sec in every sector to Jeff :o

Default to me felt slightly too stiff on the front, made it nicely stable though.

UKAC Jeffrey in meds is faster 0.5 than RSR world record in softs and cold temperatures! :o
It's phenomenal lap time and i remember , Jeff was same fast  in TCR series too. Brands Hatch is yours!
Good job, Jeff!
Thanks for info about your setup!

PS. I've checked an anticheat system in server. It working properly in case of track and car, thanks Pete for server files updates!   :)

You are not alone  :) I love BH so much, but usually can't drive it fast  :-\ . May be all the time i prefer an overly insure in turns, not using every centimeter of road due human's fear from real life driving experience, not cutting a conners ( even if the game allows it) . Today's evening i'll have a practice here , but anyway i'll try (in final)  setup my car for my own race stability first. Default set is not my favorite here.  So, don't worry  and we will drive together .  :)

its okay, i was in the low 27's too in my early practise, so be a few of us running together  ;). Didnt get near it at the weekend so will hopefully get some more laps in tonight on the server.

Looks like Matteo, Jeff and FMG will be in a tight 3 car battle up front again  :fencing:

Doesnt matter what i did to the car i just went slower or crashed more!

Default does have a strange nose high attitude to it tho.

Nose high improves stability. If you raise the back much you'll find it wants to swap ends more under braking/turn in.

Just did a very few offline laps and I noticed that the car doesn't like curbs at all and that the tires overheat very fast. Any tips how to get rid of this?

Use medium slicks?  ;)

Yeah I had to stay off the throttle on most of the curbs to prevent the car from spinning, although that is most likely what is making me loose time.

i found the car very easy to spin last night, it oversteers way too easily in the fast corners. Hadnt suffered that last week when i tried offline practise. Probably why Jeff managed a 1:25  :P

Anyone who hasnt declared a skin by about 8pm tonight will be given one chosen by me as i'll have to put a skinpack together and send it to Pete for the server.

That's literally what I said a few days ago  :P, but using default setup seemed to tone that down a bit. I was suffering from spinning more with offline practice, I always seem to be a bit faster with the online sessions  ???.

I think the server is still setup to have much higher track temps than default.
I seem to remember them being increased for a GT3 championship yonks ago.

If this correct, can we drop the temps to something more akin to British weather? Ie cooler  ;D thanks.

+1

It's true that rear tyres tends to overheat easily on this car, but they're still manageable. I don't know which setup are you using Mark, but if you are on that of Siebert I must tell you that tyre pressure of that setup were completely wrong.

I mostly agree with Jeffrey about default setup. I changed only the front ARB (+1 click) and tyre pressures to it. During the lap I adjust the TC to a value of 6 on the Cooper straight and then I put it down to 4 on the pilgrims drop and for the rest of the track. That's my little dirty secret :D

Hope to be on time for the race tomorrow. See you chaps :)

Very first time in slicks cars i see that softs is not working in this temperatures... For example , in this conditions in GT3 cars , soft can have better lap times in SPA. I am sure- this car softs will not  :)

PS Mark- no race password signed in first post  :)

I agree with this, we provide a practice server so people can practice the race conditions. We can change the temperatures for future races though.

Mind you as I've not actually driven a single lap in this car yet a radical change like this would help me out  ::)

For future races I wouldn't mind some randomness in the weather. Have the computer randomly pick a temperature within a certain window.
I'm not a fan of unlimited practice to get everything perfectly prepared, it's not realistic IMO and it makes things too predictable.

Okay, agree too late to change the temps now, just dont complain if you cook your rear tyres  ;) sliding them about really heats them up so adjust your setup accordingly, be that extra wing or a stiffer front/softer rear to reduce oversteer. If you overcook them in a spin you will need to take it easy for half a lap after to let them cool back down otherwise you will spin again and get the hump and leave.  :-*
I found these cars are running too high camber as well, albeit that helps with the knife edge handling, but does generate a lot of heat in the tyre too.

Im a fan of random weather too, but if i run anything other than mid-clear i get complaints   I'd quite like a moody grey cloudy sky at somewhere like Brands.

That's what I like about these cars, adds an extra dimension.

That's because you always go for those annoying sunsets  ;).

I prefer sunny as that makes the game looks best, but as long as it's 14:00, I don't mind some clouds :P. It's more the variation in temperature that is interesting, not really how it looks IMO.

Heavy overcast + the rift is horrible.
My offline practice race in the 962's for Silverstone was heavy overcast to make it more believable.
I found it increadibly hard to spot corners when everything is grey and I have low res to spot it though...

I'm with Jeff on the variable temps and grip though, my practice runs for the 962 had a variable track surface and really added a dimension to the races.
Especially as there would often be a random corner with extra low grip thrown in to really make you work  ;D

First of all, I should read more carefully the race announcement  ;D

I avoided to make an attempt on soft during the qualif. session, but I guess I'd never get closer with that compund to Jeffrey. If you add that I spent ten precious minutes to make a phone call to say happy birthday to my aunt, all in all the third place was not so bad.

I managed immediately to take the 2nd position at the first corner with a scary braking side by side at the first turn with nfsw. Than I tried to keep Jeff's pace and I was quite successfull until that damned spin at lap 7 or 8. For a question of luck I was not caught by nfsw and fmg and I found myself on the right direction to go on trying a desperate comeback for a podium place. I did a slow lap to cool down the temps, and than, lap after lap, tenth by tenth, I managed to rejoin the battle for the podium.
I had only 10 minutes to make a final assault, but after a couple of laps, nfsw had a spin and crashed into the wall, so I regained the third place. Last laps were really immersive trying to put some pressure on fmg in the middle of some lapped drivers battles that were all extremely fair in letting us pass  ;)

With only 4 corners to the checkered flag fmg went slightly wide on the grass at the 'Westfield' and I had a last chance to put my car side by side taking the inside at the 'Dingle Dell' completing the overtake that granted me the 2nd position.

I must say that I'm pretty happy for my comeback.

Hat off to Jeff for his race. Well done fmg and nfsw.

See you :)

well, that was an eventful first round  :o

Will start by saying the grid of cars looked fantastic with some lovely paintjobs on display  8)

Qually went very well for me, tried softs for the first time and on my first flying lap did a 1:26:1  :o which put me 2nd for ages. My runs after that were near abouts but even with a 1:25.9 I could only bag 4th.  Great pace by the 3 ahead. So I was pretty chuffed with a high qually spot. :)

Race start went well and cleanly until given a nudge by the green Lotus at Graham hill to get him past. He then continued to blatantly block from side to side for the rest of the lap until nerfing me off at Clearways (after he'd already been fully off on the grass and should have conceded). ::)  I lost several places but steamed on and retook several places. I then closed right up on shark for a couple of laps but he had a moment on the exit of clearways with me right up his chuff, and just the slightest jink of my steering sent me into a silly weird spin  :taz: I got damaged on the Armco and I had to wait for the whole field to go by  :'(
Now I had it all to do but good pace, so I picked my way back up the entire group upto Alexey in 6th  :o and with 6mins to go I got past him at Surtees and had my early antagonist shark just 4-5 secs up the road! I thought 'I can do this'  :ninja: though my rear tyres were now seriously worn. But whilst closing him down with a few laps remaining the racing gods once again spat in my beer as a rejoining back marker side-swiped me at hawthorns at full chat  :gun_bandana: and I was sent into a massive spin, though without hitting anything. But I lost my hard earned 6th to Alexey and now no chance of catching Shark  :'(  plus my rears were now bright red  ::)

Somehow I caught Alexey again and we had our second photo finish in two races  :o : :fencing:

Loved the racing at my home track and the cars but the 3 separate incidents, none of my own mistake, destroyed my chance of a top 5 finish.  :-\

Well done to Jeff on a strong win and the two podium finishers  :thumbup1: plus thanks to all who raced to make it a good event. :)

Any contacts or wrong doings please report via the incident moderation board. :detective:

This race went better than expected.

During my practice laps yesterday I totally hated this car, very slidey and not fun to drive. FMG gave me the tip that the car should be much more enjoyable with race fuel so I decided to give it another chance today.
Qualifying went surprisingly well, although I didn't bother with trying the soft tires I qualified P2.
At the start I lost P2 to Matteo, but everything else went well and I survived the first laps without any issues.
Lap after lap I got more confidence in the car and it actually even started t be fun. Still the car needs to be driven quite difficile. After I let FMG through at some point we had a nice battle for at least 10 laps. I wasn't close enough to start any attacks, but it was enjoyable tho.

Sadly our convoy travel ended when our cars made contact on the start/finish straight due to a slight warp from my side. We both continued and Matteo catched up from behind so we had a three-way battle for half a lap until my long-awaited spin finally arrived  ;D which threw me way behind the other two.

My race ended in P4, not too bad considering my prejudices about the car. But FMG was right, the extra weight from the fuel made it alot better.
Looking forward to the next round.

btw: I agree with you Mark, grid looked beautiful tonight.

Any reason why the results do not record the car or tyre type? Its a standard Kunos car.

And can L4DE add his nationality to his profile so the flags show up right? Ta  :)

Other than one particular driver who seemed to treat the race like a public server, the driving standards seemed good from where i saw.

Did you ask Dave to add the car type to the LM2 car roster?
It doesn't matter if it's a stock car or not. It still has to be entered into the roster manually along with the most appropriate tyre manufacturer and if possible specify a desired class.

i think i told DG what car we were using for the series. He possibly thought it was already on the car list  :-\  Anyone know what tyres this car uses? (am at work so cant check).

I PM'ed Dave this morning, when I did the results, asking to have the car added. If the Alfa we're using for next week is the same as a Alfa Romeo GTA Volumetrico then we're sorted if not this will need adding too. I've not mentioned this to Dave.

The majority of the stock skins show Michelin but I do not have the add-on skins so cannot check those.

Just make them all Michelin as its a spec series, i might be wrong but i dont think different skins would run different tyre brands?  :-\

I think that depends on the individual skin creators. Even AC stock cars have a variety of tyre makes throughout a car model (RRE is even worse).

Highlights from the middle. P8-P11-P6   :)
I've forgot to press gas pedal flat when lights was off , this cause an additional turbulence to me , lost 3 position and than had  a good race in overall with many actions. 2 both Mark's-  hihihi  :P

Volumetrico = Supercharger/Supercharged if I remember my Italian ( and P&G ) correctly.
Most certainly not the same car, although I won't complain if I can have a Volumetrico instead :whistling:

Nice vid Alexey  :thumbup1: these cars really shift, the racing pace was fast on the vid. Lap 1 looked nice and clean  :) plus you must be getting used to see me appearing large in your mirrors now  ;D

To be honest i just amazing every time how fast guys drive BH.  No fear you have guys!  ;D Mark, you was very fast too, all what you needed here is to be some more lucky  : .
I tryed default set which mister Jeff talked is ideal, but found its more risky than i can drive in race. I used my own setup with more wing, softer suspention and dampers, lower camber  in target of race stability. Trying to build camber with new approach. I like it in final.
I was very impressed by your's attempts to catch me in final laps  :thumbup1:, i've just tryed drove the car with no risk for me and learning tyres telemetry ( not tested the whole race distance  in practice sessions)
Thanks Jeff for replay- i've collect your Q lap for memoriz and learning!  :)

yes i had rotten luck this time, always frustrating when you know you have better than normal pace at certain tracks and still dont get a good result.  :'(

These cars are quick enough for exciting racing and yet you can still race closely with another car with them.  :)

I still had good pace at the end despite very worn rear tyres and was closing rapidly on shark (could actually see him ahead) as i wanted my 5th place back! But a backmarker went onto the grass around the back of the track and hit me as i went past sending me into the huge spin. :'( and hence why you got back past me.

Must say the Rift once again proved very useful cutting through the traffic here  8) its so good for looking sideways at another car you are battling into or through a corner. Even more important with these cars as they have the fire bulkhead behind you making it hard to see cars on your 5 or 7 o'clock.

I still need to watch the full replay so i can dish justice if necessary. :detective:  So far i havent received a single complaint of contact  :o odd as i saw the same person hit at least 3 other cars during the race!

And yet the rear view mirror works perfectly ;)

Car Radar app working perfectly too for single monitor users ;)

I certainly got lucky. Remembered to basically avoid racing "the green car" as he's been here before with very similar results. Still, he span "or something" in paddock hill and despite trying to take avoiding action of his spinning car he still got me. Crumpled my nose a bit and after that I never had any confidence in the car so was quite a lot slower than qualifying. Come near the end I was sitting nicely in 5th, but realised with 3 laps to go my fuel of 56 really wasn't enough and had to lose something like 12 seconds to make it spluttering over the finish line. Was lucky I had such a nice gap otherwise that would have put me down at least 2 places or worse still, need a pit stop!

I then closed right up on shark for a couple of laps but he had a moment on the exit of clearways with me right up his chuff, and just the slightest jink of my steering sent me into a silly weird spin
Ah ha! You fell for my infamous, pretend "moment" hook line and sinker. Its amazing how many times you can have a moment and the car behind does the same thing. Completely intentional on my part!  ;) :-*

didn't work for those two blind spots to your rear quarters though  :P  even with my Rift I couldn't see you FMG in the first lap, I could hear you! but you must have been totally in a blindspot, I just knew not to change lines as could sense your presence  :shifty:

ah okay sharky, next time you have 'a fake moment' i'll just give you a tap and send you on your way   ;)

Not sure you got that.
Next time take a look at the rear view mirror on your windscreen - then look over your right shoulder and explain how it works ;)
(This will be lost on non-rift drivers)

Ah I get you  :smartass: it must be a mirror sized rear view camera located ‘behind’ the bulkhead   ;D
