Sorry Andreas for the rear ending,  I had no intention to overtake you,
the slipstream bug hit me (when the tow is stronger than the braking)

I went for a comfort break after qually and so I missed the start  ::)

Had to start from the pit lane so I was shown to be a lap down at the start (so finally 3 laps down not 4 at the finish).  I had to ignore the blue flags when Fran came up behind me because I knew we were on the same lap. Sorry if that caused any confusion Fran.

I obeyed the blue flags the rest of the time and let the leaders through without any problems as far as I'm aware.

Grats to Clive on a dominant display.

Qualified 4th, finished 4th. Great racing with Mr James, but there was no way past unless he made a mistake - and he didn't.

Great performance, Clive - lapped everyone up to 2nd.

Well. I think I got my tokens worth ;D
Pleased with that performance - got to within 0.2 of the WR for the car in qually and only a little slower in the race.
Not bad as it's been 4 years since I set it and I've not really been concentrating on GPL as much lately..

I had a great opening chase with Ronnie, although inevitably he pulled away once he got some heat into his tires and had developed a rhythm (A half spin by me helped matters also...)
Well done to Clive on a dominant win, Uli on a cracking pace in the 49, and - erm - whoever finished 3rd (I missed that bit of info :-[ )

To be honest, it happened at the right time for me.
around 25 laps closely followed by Andreas and Axel (Bastian too, in the first part of the race) was very hard,
I started to make several mistakes.

I should still be leader of the mixed championship with only 2 points more than EvilC ...so it will probably be different after the next race.

I think Clive must have been on a promise, he seemed in a rush to get the race over.

Great performance, Clive.

That would be me.

Yes it was fun race but one I was not looking forward to. I don't like Monaco as a circuit and think it should be dropped by F1 :O

Ronnie was only .04 ahead of me in Qually and I was hoping for pole (Ams) so I could dictate the pace and not thrash the engine as I've blown 3 in 2 races so far this season but I couldn't put a better lap together. Luckily for me he bogged down at the start and I passed him. Tris blew up in front of me and I emerged from T1 in 3rd.

With no hope of keeping up with the front 2 I just watched my pace and my gear changes and those pesky bales, I think my fastest race lap was a 24.9 but it was enough to bring it home in one piece.

Backmarkers were great too. Thanks.

This race was just one of those rare occasions ( for me) when everything just fell into place. I am a bit of an oddity because I enjoy the challenge of Monaco, I had a bucketful of tokens so I thought that I would treat myself with a good chassis and I was just "in the zone" last night.
I had retrieved an old setup for the Brabham from my archives and, believe it or not, I found it a little too aggressive and had to "soften" things to make it more comfortable.

To quote Jim Clark, it was a case of "the more I concentrated, the faster I went". But I think Uli and Tim deserve more kudos than I do. They had opted for wingless cars and were posting some WR times, I had some serious downforce available, which gave me a serious advantage and made things a little easier. Uli's qually time was a real scare and when he got within 0.4 secs of my earlier pole time  :o, I felt worried enough to have another run and secure pole. If he had claimed pole, I might have had a problem passing him around here!!

The setup I was using was one of those that allowed me to point and place the car wherever I wanted with absolute confidence, even when sliding between concrete walls. I think that I only brushed the barriers twice in the whole race, and yes Phil, I was enjoying myself  ;D.

Grats to all finishers and thanks to those who allowed me to lap them....although there were a couple of buttock clenching moments whilst lapping, but no harm done. The only incident was 2 laps from the end when I had just passed a car out of Tabac, and was braking for Gasometer, when I galnced in the mirror and saw a missile coming down the inside  :o. Fortunately I was able to delay turning in and only received a glancing blow that did no apparent damage.

If all my races were this good.....life in GPL might get boring for me so I fully expect that next time things will revert to normal lol.

I was hoping the M9a was a quite good option on slow monaco track.
Car felt better and better during the race, but was somehow slow.

I had some contacts with walls, fortunately not so hard, i survived.

seems funny that amateurs score more points than so called "pro" :)

I was going to take it for token reasons but I couldn't get it to work well and was advised against using it here.

The credit goes to the winged Ferrari in my case, it is a great car at this track. I only had to compromise at one corner, the right hander after Leows, sometimes it slid nicely but most times it wanted to go straight.

With the combination of Thornton dollars and dropped rounds I wouldn't take the points table very seriously until at least round 6  ;)
The only exceptions to this rule being people you normally find yourself competing with - and even then you have no real idea on their plans for the upcoming races Vs yours!

Congratulations Evil and Mike and all finishers
After a non fun race at Interlagos with the GPL-Racers (engine trouble) I was looking forward to Monaco. In practice I got faster and faster but not fast enough for a pole. Great pole and sovereign victory, I‘d no chance at all. I like Monaco and it was fine to finish here, even with a lot of concentration lags and kissing the barriers much to much - lucky second in the end, I‘m happy ...
Almost all backmarkers did a very good job, what‘s not easy here - thanks to you!
Maybe I find time for Assen even in a slow car.

I've loaded the chassis the drivers used into the token calculator spreadsheet.  For the next race the available tokens will be as declared in the table below (the table will also appear in the next race announcement).  The calculated values are automated but selecting the cars is a manual process so please check your tokens to make sure I haven't made a silly error.  There was no token overspend for this round so no one is disqualified.
