Well that's not gone well! I've updated the server (little over 50MB is all it requires) but when I start the server again I get a red error message

Code:
[ERROR] 02:43:27 ServiceContainer.Start

and nothing else happens :(

Edit: Hopefully it's just me being impatient as if I search the forum for the error I get

Code:
We are currently under maintenance. The game will be back up soon™

No errors reported yet. You are right about the forum notice, possibly just something missed. I'm an hour~ away from completing the download. Store is accessible, new content ready for purchase.

We can postpone the event if people want to. I don't mind.

PLease give us your opinion Geoff... If it's as daft as the previous 911 thingy then I will have
to use something else, like maybe these new Group C monsters?

Actually quite a nice car to drive, only very mild lift-off oversteer. Very little to adjust setup wise, so should make a good series I think. Not sure about the new tyre pressure adjustment feature, without knowing the tyre temps, difficult to know if you are adjusting the right way, having said that a slight drop in front pressure did make the 964 a little quicker over a lap.

Not bought the Group C cars yet so can't comment on those.

Not sure about the new tyre pressure adjustment feature, without knowing the tyre temps, difficult to know if you are adjusting the right way, having said that a slight drop in front pressure did make the 964 a little quicker over a lap.

The new shared memory changes and web based in-game overlays allow tyre temps (and a lot more besides) to be monitored now with new, customisable HUD elements. There is a lot of info here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=4&v=TOQCJgVB9no (https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=4&v=TOQCJgVB9no) This is a new and evolving feature and more third party apps are expected.

The 964 will make a great series. They've also tweaked the 934 to make it a little more forgiving over bumps and crests but not tried the updated version yet. Still hoping we'll include that one sometime, but there's a lot of nice new content to explore now.

Not sure what state the server's in now. I ended up rebooting the whole thing and that gets past the previous error and the front end all loads. I've started the event as Matt had it setup and on the server GUI it's counting down the session but the last line in the DOS window for the server process is

[WARN] 05:28:56 DedicatedServerProcess.Process.Start pipe still connecting

I think that was reported before I started the server so it may be ok, I guess I'll find out when my game machine has had a chance to get the update.

I was going to say maybe best to run this as a fun / practice event and reschedule it for the end of the season if people are struggling to get the update installed in time.

Now updated after a number of attempts and Ohio running OK offline. I’d prefer to give it a miss if the Server is not working properly. What is the current status? I’m On iPad at the moment. (My PC takes awhile to login and usually a number of reboots to login to our Server.)

My update has completed, been on the server, and apart from all the red words etc, seems ok
joined the race with no issues, and did a couple of laps. So all seems well.

I am leaning towards postponing the event, as not everyone may turn up with waiting for the updates
I would't mind some time to test the new cars, and add some events to the series.

I will go with the flow. Happy to race if people are good to go. Wait until pratice start time
and then we'll make a decision.

Just joined the server and all seemed ok. Happy to run this as a non-championship race however, which may anyway give time to adjust setups based on the new tyre pressure changes.

Mystified joined OK and drove around in practice only car there (?) then after a few laps view changed to bonnet view and I dropped off the server.  ::)  Tried to login again but Server would not respond and after a number of attempts to join the 4 cars on the Server I quit!  ???

Wondered what happened Bill, you said hello on chat and disconnected before anyone could reply from my POV.

Fun racing with Geoff, I got a great start but sliding too much on cold tyres soon let Geoff and then Eck passed. Eck dropped it almost straight away and left me to chase Geoff. I didn't expect to catch up as  could get that close in qualifying but somehow did. The longer the race went on the more sideways you seemed to get Geoff and eventually a bizarre sequence of corners with my almost losing it and you going wide I got in front. Really struggled to be consistent with the pressure of you always in my mirrors. Great fun.

Well done all and shame Bill had problems and Spanner didn't get the update in time.

Good race Pete, as usual you were quicker in the race than in qually & once you got ahead I could not quite keep up. I actually thought I had forced you off track because I got out of shape on the kerb, so slowed to let you catch up & promptly ran wide at that turn because I was busy looking in the mirror for you & missed the turn in. ::)  Congrats.

I managed to stay in front of Eck and Frex towards the end. I assumed Dieter was just being polite
and letting me stay ahead, certainly when I went off briefly it seemed that way  :thumbup1: Ta for that
But then my pace was not so far off, and kept position up to the flag.
I see the tyre pressure settings, but no temp readout? I read something about web overlays? huh?
Dieter's car was sat in the pits on my screen during qual, with the engine revving it's nuts off, yet the session
said he was on track, and he appeared on the grid at start time normally. weird..

I thought I was getting a run on you but got a little to throttle happy and got some oversteer, I was lucky not to hit the wall on the left. Sorry for the distraction ;)

I had a car doing that too, wasn't sure who though. Is that why I saw you reversing down the pitlane?

Around 0.8 secs separating our fastest laps implies this could be a close series although I suspect several of you will suss out setups overtime and get quicker.

I was a bit polite on the second lap when you went off, but then later on you were easily pulling away from me! With Eck keeping you busy towards the end I was catching again though - would have been a nice 3 car fight without my own minor off. Good fun, but the Audi had horrible front tyre wear here - that's why I gave up with it before, so I hope the update hasn't broken it again (maybe just need to look at the pressures and redo the setup though).

Congrats Pete.

I see the tyre pressure settings, but no temp readout? I read something about web overlays? huh?

See here: https://github.com/sector3studios/webhud (https://github.com/sector3studios/webhud)

Follow the 4 steps under Quick Start near the bottom of the page. The game launch arguments are added in Steam under Launch properties. Some are saying it adversely affects performance, but I have not noticed that.

Hmm. well I ran it,and it works, but:

1: It did slow my frame rate down a lot, drivable for setup testing, but I wouldn't want to race with it running

2: It is only overall tyre temp, not outer, mid, inner as I was assuming  :-\

3: It seems to be wrong way round? making the pressure higher makes the tyre run hotter, lower pressure runs cooler

I did a few laps of Zandy with the new porker, and the front left would easily overheat, with pressure at lowest
it overheated less, with pressure highest it overheated sooner.  ???

This is not the way it works in real life (as we discussed at this week's Oval GTL race)
Need someone else to do some testing as I might be talking spheroids.

Leave that window open and start the game. (And make sure you have set the launch parameters in Steam as mentionerd above).

@Matt - I agree we need Inner, Mid, Outer tyre temps but this is just a quick first pass, more a proof of concept. I'm sure there will be further tyre apps available soon that will include just that. Limites usefulness until then though, although other parts of the web HUD are also very useful (ability to see cars in other classes on the position bar for example).

Also, yes a tyre with very low pressure will overheat massively, but in the normal operating window of the tyre, increasing pressure will increase tread temp (and vice versa). That's how I understand it?

OK got it running now.

Edit: Yeh like Matt says it slows frame rate considerably, in fact too much on my old PC, so have removed it again.

Traditional knowledge is that lower pressure increases tyre temp, and higher pressure reduces tyre temps
Martin Brundle explains it quite well. I don't know about within temp range or not.
