Title: UKGPL Season 34 (2019) Joe Shaw Memorial Trophy - Brands Hatch - Apr 28
Post by: EvilClive on April 15, 2019, 02:52:33 PM +0100
(2) Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R;group=6816)

It is almost time for our annual Joe Shaw Memorial Trophy. We always try to make this a little different and interesting...and a challenge.

So this time there will be 4 sprint races, with 2 races on each evening. Qualifying will start at the normal time but, PLEASE NOTE THAT THE FIRST RACE START TIME IS SLIGHTLY EARLIER TO ACCOMMODATE THE 2 RACES.
Each race has a single chassis for all PRO drivers which will be clearly indicated for each event.

65's      with the Lotus 33 @ Brands Indy 20 laps

66's      with the TIG Eagle Weslake 3ltr @ Oulton Park  15 laps

67 F2's  with the Ferrari 166 @ Castle Combe 20 laps

67's      with the Lotus 49 @ Goodwood 20 laps

For the first event we head to Kent and the scenic undulations of Brands Hatch's Indy circuit. Joe scored two of his three Ginetta series podium places here and visited as spectator many times. With such a short lap traffic in both qualifying and the race is sure to be a factor here, so please be careful.

Thanks to everyone who is taking part in this series in memory of Joe Shaw and it looked like there was some great racing throughout the field.

Yes guys, you were correct about my 60fps. But exactly how, or why, the patch had been turned off I have no idea  ??? ??? ???

I worke out the problem just in time and joined the server with 2 secs left in qualifying!!!!! So, my mental preparation was not exactly perfect AND I had to start from the back of the grid with a certain alien from the Netherlands looking very comfortable on pole.  :-\

Grats to Robert and all finishers.  ;D ;D ;D ;D
I had done 30 mins practice earlier in the day and felt that the quickest I could go was around 50 secs, fully expecting some to be into the 48 secs. A great start that passed two cars before Paddock Hill bend helped. Then 2 cars tangled before Druids and for one moment I thought I was going to get collected  :o, but somehow I squeezed through and emerged from Druids in 4th place !!!!

I had to pressure Bastian for several laps before he made a mistake. But by then Robert and Tim were out of sight. Eventually I chased down Tim and a small error by him gave me a gap up the inside to Druids...2nd place??? !!!
But there was no chance of catching Robert who was just faster than I could match, even though I did a PB and got sub 50 secs he was still extending the gap at the flag.

Was happy with a chassis WR in quali, as Clive said, a 48 might be possible with some more testing...took the lead and took it easy last 10 laps. This is my best mod and normally I only drive BT7/T77 with it. Had a freeze in quali so was happy to finish the race.

Respect to Clive for a great race fighting back to P2, with good pace! Also well done Tim and finishers. Thanks all for racing, and thanks to Axel for server! ;)
