I just tried the Ford one. She is more gentle in turns. On this track she could be even with the Chevy, if not faster.
In any case, if Max takes the Ford, I will follow him.

How can i replace the engine sound with a better one? The default one seems like a heavy-silenced car.

basic guide,  find a car with V8 sounds you like,  then copy the sound .bank file (found in \Steam\steamapps\common\assettocorsa\content\cars\THE CAR WITH SOUNDS I LIKE\sfx" folder)
to   "\Steam\steamapps\common\assettocorsa\content\cars\lola_t70_rf2_ford\sfx" folder and rename it to "lola_t70_rf2_ford.bank"  , replacing the file that's there now

If Tim takes the ford again so will I  ;)

I tried and it works only with the mustang 302's sound. I checked the file size, maybe it is simple the same. With other sounds doesn't work, maybe I did something wrong.  ;D

Probably my instructions are a bit rubbish as its been a while since I did that.  Some times you might need to alter the GUID.txt too, and depending what car you copy from that might mean unpacking original kunos files to get the correct data for that...

The most reliable method is to copy BOTH the bank and GUID, and then rename the bank file to match the car (folder) name. then open and edit the GUID file and change all references of the original car to the new one you are using them in :)

So as an example, the Mustang sound line would say:

{6c72a1ed-4257-492f-abe0-5c255e0c9d18} event:/cars/ford_mustang_boss_SE/backfire_ext

you want to edit the file you've copied to the Lola to read:

{6c72a1ed-4257-492f-abe0-5c255e0c9d18} event:/cars/lola_t70_rf2_ford/backfire_ext

The single most important part is not to mess up the string of code contained between the { } as this is what AC uses to identify the chunk of sound to use that is held within the bank file.
It is also critical to make backups of the original sounds before you start, especially on the stock cars.

I spent an hour or so before the race last week trying different sounds - the best by far are the sounds from the Ford 302r ( 'ford_mustang_boss_se' folder ), as far as I can tell the 428r sounds are identiacal but can rev higher as it's apparently a NASCAR engine from reading the notes. Sadly I can't get it to show in game so haven't been able to try it.

The only extra problem is that the 302r sounds much better than the Chevy sounds so I'm now looking for a big block V8 to use on those....
Hearing a Ford go by from the pits was amazing

FMG, as you have succesfully already done it,  could you zip/rar up your new Lola Ford-Mustang sounds and post a link? or email them to me and i'll put a dropbox link up.  :)  Saves others making a text error and getting problems. Ta

It works now, thanks! :thumbup1:

I used the sounds of 1970Mustang Mod (to be precise the "mustang boss SE"). I copied "GUID" and "the bank", then in the GUID I replace with "cars/lola_t70_rf2_ford" in every line where there was "cars/ford_mustang_boss_SE".
It seems ok, also tires sounds have changed. I think I did everything right, at least I hope. ;D I can share the folder, if my procedure is correct.

PS: fmg, this version of Bridgehampton is not the same that we used for the race with F1 '67. Some turns are different, specially the first.

You mean host and post ripped content here on Srou?  ;)
Without the permission of the guy who made the Mustangs that's a nope...

Fabri, I know - should give better performance too as I remember the up to date version had loads of improvements.

My teeth a rattling out of my mouth at this track. The ffb seems a bit extreme as I can't turn it down more without losing feel.

Further to my suggestion of the 302r sounds for the Ford (really worth it if you haven't yet).
Some chap has just released a sound set for the T70 Mk3 - as that was Chevy powered this means the external sounds are bang on the money , internally they're still pretty damn good also.

Try them out:

same here fabri, I just reinstalled the track in case mine was out of date but still blocked from server  ???

did some offline laps, you hold your breath in the downhill roller coaster sector 1  :o some corners are tight for these beasts, but you start to get a rhythm after a handful of laps. Could only manage a 1:33.2 so far with 40L fuel. Fastest AI was a 1:30, so work to do! :P

great track and car combo  8)  very physical! I was sweating like a beast just for practise  :P  not a lot in it between the Ford and Chevy from what I have seen but more comparison times needed.  :) This race will be all about keeping it on the black stuff, its so easy to put a tyre wide then you are on the slippery sand and I expect mistakes will happen over a 40minute tough race.  :sweatdrop:

Nice to see only 4/10ths separate the top 4 cars so far  :o that’s pretty impressive on a tricky undulating circuit like this  :thumbup1:

Have a hospital visit tomorrow, will be touch and go to get back in time for race, if I don't make it have a good one, this is first time in this car and it is well suited to this type of track.

Will have to do the best I can and see how close I can guess it!

Fingers crossed it'll work tomorrow.....

I tried the Ford version tonight but something I’m not quite getting with overall pace. It feels more planted, better on the brakes and better turn in than the Chevy yet I’m a second slower in it than the Chevy over a lap  ??? Maybe I’m just not as sharp after a long day at work compared to my fresher weekend sesh  :-\

Well, my offline time puts me 3rd on the provisional grid at the moment.
As I still had 20 mins+ of fuel onboard I'm fairly happy with that for now.

My Internet is still coming and going so I'll have to hope for the best tomorrow evening..

Glad you enjoyed it bob, you must have turned up late ? Looked like a rubbish turn out when I was forced to bale with only 4 cars present.
Took me nearly an hour of reinstalling new drivers and flashing the firmware of my wheel to get it working again  ::) then I had to re calibrate all my controllers  :taz:  seemed to be working again but I kept getting mg-uk warning flashing up so something still amiss   :(

I was going to suggest re-running this race next week as quite a few had technical issues or couldn’t make the race   :-\

Well I think I found the source of some of my pc's wierd behaviour, it decided (yet again)  to ignore my settings and download a massive feature update during the race.
That combined with my throttle pedal playing up big time made life very hard for me, not helped by out breaking myself in the very early laps to drop myself back to dead last  :(

Normally I'm against reruns mid season, but I can probably bodge the pedals by next week and make a proper go off it - to be honest we could have 8 rounds at the Bridge in a row and i'd still be asking for more in these.
You need to be sure there'll actually be an increase in turn out though if you are planning on a rerun.

Well done to Jukka and the podium, I scuppered what chances I had early on. The throttle got decidedly worse as the race went on (it actually sounded like the engine was missing by the end!)  so I might have ended up 4th anyway..

I'm with you there, anything old and fast at the bridge is just a dream combo ;D , so I'm happy to do a re-run next week to allow the no shows and technical issues to get a shot at the full race   :)

Congrats to Jukka, nice controlled pace and a well deserved win, hope you stick around for some more races  :)

Qually I did an ok lap, but didn't quite nail that magic one, so had to settle for 2nd. The race was good, first ~15 minutes were sat behind Jukka looking for a gap but I never found one, and each time up the main straight that chevy just laughed away  :D.  Then I made an error at  T4? and braked slightly too late, Jukka was on the inside line and I had no choice but to go outside to avoid a collision and that put me into the sand. As I recovered Fabri went screaming past, and I had to chase him for a few laps will I got a chance to pass and started to hunt Jukka down. Sadly I made a couple of small mistakes which ended with a wheel on the sand and precious seconds lost, so to finish 0.2 down at the flag was a good result overall.  The last few laps were quite interesting, the rear tyres started to seriously give up on traction and I could see in front Jukka had the same problem  ;D

If there's a chance of a re-run I'll not import last night's results just yet.

Sadly I've messed my hip up and this makes racing some nights rather awkward. I do want to do more of these but does depend on my discomfort level day to day. I'll never be competitive so, from a championship point of view, it makes no difference to me if I miss a round or it gets re-run.

How many guys actually raced last night? There were only 3 other guys on the server as qually was about to start and my wheel got borked so i never got to see if anyone else turned up late.

A re-run will only happen if the race finishers agree to it as dont want to rob them of hard earned points.  Just seems too good a combo to waste on a few runners due to the circumstances.  :-\

hmm, maybe best leave the result standing then.  :'(

Disapointing for me as i was looking forward to this race and seemed to be on top 4 pace for once, but hey ho...put it down to car failure!  :P Just hope i havent got to send my wheel back to Fanatec as that'll mean i miss the next couple of weeks. Im hoping its been the latest microsoft updates that borked the firmware/drivers and not a mechanical failure but odd that it suddenly let go mid session which makes me fear the worst.  :(

turnout was a bit disappointing, we had 10 last time + 2 new guys since,  could have been good  :(

I'm also of idea to mantein this race, leaving the result standing then, and add again Bridgehampton as final series-race. So a race more in the championship.
I remember that there were technical problems (from the server) during the race with the GTAs in Japan, and there was no re-run or cancellation of the results, although remained only two pilots inside.  ;D

About my race: mediocre race. When Max passed me, I was thinking to stay with him, but when I tryed push a bit more, I did a lot of small mistakes. In the second part of race I had a complete lack of pace, accumulating a considerable final gap.

Congratulations to Jukka, pole, victory and always in the lead. But congratulations also to Max, an impressive pace with Ford.

Unfortunately others had technical problems.
Hopefully things will get better next race and have more drivers.

Do you want to be listed as a driver MJ even though you turned no laps? It's just your in the results file twice, once with each car type, and I need to edit at least one out before it can be imported. Which car type do you want if the answer is yes, Chevy or Ford?

That's the pedals fixed for now - I dismantled them and cleaned all the pots, then I switched them around so the Clutch pot is now on the accelerator as it's obviously least worn.
All 3 pedals report lovely smooth travel in game now :)

Unfortunately I then screwed straight through the wire to the throttle pedal while re-assembling and had to take them back apart again to find and fix the fault ::)
To celebrate I tried the Lola Chevy - 2 laps into a full fuel run I equalled my best lap from the Ford, so hopefully I'll be playing at the front again next race

I then tried the 917-30 to test out the boost knob on the button box and all I can say is :o
200+Mph under the bridge with light trail braking the entire way to T2.
I was running a setup from Mosport so it couldn't cope with the bumps - every corner was simply a wait before you could touch the throttle again...
Still did a 1:20 and there's loads to gain with an improved setup....

You're making me think I don't drive that 917/30 enough though...
