I'll be attempting to join this one, even if my main reason is to test the button box out as I've just finished it.
I'll take the Bentley and ensure I use my indicators like a true gentleman  ;D

I'm trying to use every GT3 car at least once during those races (maybe not the Honda and the 2015 Nissan ;D) so my choice is a bit limited this time

I should be around for this one. I will probably try the Audi or the lambo. @picnic, do we have to nominate how many of each car type is available on the server as we have to in AC?

Any idea what is a good time, I updated windows to the latest 1903 release and then had a quick go in ACC to make sure all is well - got down to a 1m36 with the aston using a default setup (1am / optimum track)

Am I being thick thinking the stracker page doesn't record laptimes from ACC yet?

Title: Re: UKAC AC Competizione - Misano Night Race - Aug 7

Not aware of an Stracker type utility for ACC yet, if someone knows of one please speak up.

D'oh ! my mistake sorry, got a lot on, forgot stracker doesnt work with ACC  :wetfish: :-[  ...as you were people

Has anyone set any laptimes? Always useful to have some kind of reference.

edit, 1:33 / 1:34 seems to be a hotlap time.

When is the official release? Especially with such an important tyre update, any reason not to enforce using this?

Fanatec makes teh sad :(

Maybe time for a direct drive upgrade?

Did a bunch of laps tonight, only got a measly 35.3, meanwhile some german in a ferrari was whizzing around in the 34s :o

What's it doing? I had my G25 turn off again mid practice last night (I had to unplug the wheel from the pc before it would work again).
Firing up the logitech profiler seemed to make it stable when I tried again, seems ACC has the same stupid bug as project cars did.

Really? Thats interesting as it was in ACC that i was seeing if my wheel was still borked. But get the feeling it must be more than that as its doing all kinds of weird stuff, steering going light/stiff, gear selection suddenly stopping working or other commands being activated when i turn the steering, like the electronics have gone completely haywire. Having said that, it did appear to start up fine and calibrate until i went into ACC.  I'll try it in Dirt Rally tonight as a final test. I've already contacted Fanatec, though have heard they are shite at customer support for repairs.  ::) Plus i probably cant send it off until my hols are done now in case they return it while i'm away....grrr.

With an ingame starting time of 21:00 Misano still looks quite bright, it's rather dawn than night.
Maybe something around 22:00 or 23:00 would be more suitable for a night race ???

You not got a spare wheel? you can pick up decent second hand logitech wheels for £30 on ebay

Got my old fanatec still in the loft  :P but bit wary of reinstalling that and causing chaos with driver files etc. I’m so busy with real life at moment I may as well grin and Bare an enforced break  :'(

Definitely a broken wheel ( found a broken pin in the quick release spindle so no wonder it’s gone haywire) - in contact with support so will see how it goes. Quick fix might be to just buy another wheel style to pop on  :P

If someone joined someone found it :P :P

I'm still on my work PC so don't have the game installed to check. Has there been another update, all I changed tonight was the session times and added the password. So not really any reason why it would stop working over the practice one.

Ok my fault, seems I deleted a comma while editing the settings.json file. Why the server runs and sits there not allowing connections is plain daft, if it can't understand the settings file report an error and quit  ::)

I'm pretty certain I'm about tonight - but depends if enough are about to try it.
On a different note I had a really quite good fun 15 minute race at Nurby GP last night on a public server as ours had gone AWOL, the only downside was a piliup at T1 (possibly legit mistake), and the replay not saving yet again ::) so I couldn't see what caused the accident that hit me..
Must have been a good 20 cars on the server too which looked (and from the pits sounded) epic.

Sorry to hear your race got screwed. Would have to square it with the historics racers but would you be happy to re-schedule this race for next week? That way i wont miss the next two rounds of the Can-Am series with my errant wheel and holiday and you guys still get to race ACC Misano  :)

Fanatec have been very efficient so far, despite what you read on the internet  ::) They have arranged courier collection of my wheel tomorrow for repair with no quibbles or blame.  :)

A lot of racers don't even read the forum announcements - I think if you do that you're likely to loose more drivers

I've launched the race server, however since I upgraded the server it seems to keep crashing. Every time I check it's not running. Hopefully it'll last the race.

Please check again

I think it's also limited to 10 clients. I don't know how to set the Track Medal and Safety ratings to gain more. I didn't think these were relevant to private servers

Title: Re: UKAC AC Competizione - Misano Night Race - Aug 21
Post by: Alfrance on August 21, 2019, 09:58:23 PM +0100
When Jeffrey lost connection, we remained 4 in the server which was seeming working fine.

After qualy I went to setup menu to upload fuel but I  found myself in the pit with 40 sec with block of controls ... (I don't know what I did wrong  ???) in the meantime all the others (3!?) started the rolling lap, I wanted to try to recover the time lost during the formation lap, but at the end of the pit the light was red, so patiently I waited it became green just when the other pilots crossed the starting line... so I was outlapped even before to start...

Anyway I had great fun and close battles with Mark at the beginning and with Simon afterwards ...till the server crashed around half of the race !!

See you Sundays for GT2 test.
Ciao

When Jeffrey lost connection, we remained 4 in the server which was seeming working fine.

I didn't lose connection, I just wasn't feeling a 5 man "race". :)

After qualy I went to setup menu to upload fuel but I  found myself in the pit with 40 sec with block of controls ... (I don't know what I did wrong  ???)

I would guess that the waiting time went down to 0 before you proceeded to the starting grid? Same system like in AC.

Was a cozy session with just the 5 4 of us. Jeff bailed so NFSW had no one to race and then with Alfrance not getting to the grid in time it was just me and Mark.

Apparently I should have been driving the Ferrari (like everyone else ::)), but I chose the BMW. The BMW seems a bit wierd cause it was almost impossible to bin cause you could just floor it, catch the slide and recover. Not the fastest way of driving for sure, but was quite amusing power sliding out of every corner, fish tailing and scaring anyone that followed. Eventually this became boring though and I decided to telepathically kill the server after 20 minutes and end the misery.

This game really is broken. I can't even seem to carry on playing the single player career now as every time I pit for my mandatory stop it doesnt swap driver and I get DQ'd for having too much driver time! WTF?!

You have to manually switch driver in the pit menu.

Yeah I saw that and there was no way to change it. It just looked disabled and no way to switch to other driver.

Bit annoyed about the start, despite being full automated pace lap which is joke it forced me to start so far back from Simon I felt like id been penalised. But maybe that could have been due to the grid changing, but I started on the grid alongside so it should have allowed me to close in.

It has a red background, which might make it look disabled, but you can still scroll through it with the arrow keys.

Everytime I looked there was no server, so after having practice offline I assumed it wasn't happening again and went on a public server.
I ended up having a very enjoyable race at Monza, qualified 4th and stayed in the lead group for the entire race.
Just to put a cherry on the cake I pressured the leader into a mistake and took the lead on the final lap. Having all the smoke effects and crowd reaction is actually pretty cool when you're the one leading upto and over the line  ;D

only downside is i cant face any practise until at least tomorrow after all the driving home i've done and i still havent done a single lap of Misano.

For the last 3 weeks I've always ended up on public servers so as not to 'waste' the evening.
I've not had any of these issues on those so it presumably is something on our server.

Can't guarantee I'll be on tonight, although I've got 3 weeks of practice in the big Bentley so no biggie ;D

Spent a couple of hours today on ACC with a view to joining tonight. After several crashes by Unreal Engine failing to start the game, finally got some joy in VR but it was so bad felt sick after 10 mins. Only got a small monitor and it ran acceptable, but have decided its just not for me. May try again when the game is fixed but right now it falls far short of what was promised.

Misano at night looked fantastic and just like the several night races I have seen there  8) Took the Mclaren with very little practise but steadily improved my times throughout the eve. Had some fun racing Simon but front two disappeared into the distance. Got lapped by Nfsw!

Not sure why turn outs are so low for a new sim with lots to offer  :-\ Maybe we need to find a Euro league and join that as a UKAC team  :P

yet historically, this has been the most popular class of sim racing for online racing, hence why i'm surprised so few are playing this new one. Graphics, sounds and physics seem superb to me.  :-\

Maybe its just this website, as AC or RRE races are similarly poorly attended now.  :'(

True, you are correct there. And look how many different sims we are already running on this site alone. Plus everyone has his own preference regarding cars/car classes.
I remember the days i had to choose between rf1 and LFS and with the limited cars and tracks with LFS, we still had decent grids each week.

Title: Re: UKAC AC Competizione - Misano Night Race - Sept 4
Post by: Simon Gymer on September 05, 2019, 01:34:01 PM +0100
Yeah, it's basically the "community" got splintered as more games were produced. It was a choice between GPL and GTR2 here and then we got GTL, iRacing, AC, rFactor, etc, etc.

Also, we're not very good at marketing or use of modern social media here at SRou.

I still think with the right impetous you could make a bigger GT3 league. Do proper 90-120 minute races with pit stops and weather and stuff and it would make it more interesting than the usual 30-40 minute races where once you've qualified that's pretty much race over.

I'm avoiding ACC for now,  it felt great when we raced at Nurb in the wet, but I tried practice for this Misano race weeks ago and the car just doesn't feel connected anymore. There is no feedback through the steering to feel it (especially the rear end) lose grip until a second after it happens, and I can't drive like that  :(
To confirm it wasn't just the car/track/time combo I went and tried other cars at Silverstone in the dry and they did the same.  I then spent ages fiddling with FFB settings in game and on my wheel and I could bring that rear end grip feel back but in the process turned my wheel into a giant spring and lost almost all feel of suspension bumps  :o.  At that point I gave up and havn't touched it since...

I'm not sure if some files got messed up in the update and I need to reinstall the game or its just the new tyre model, but it stopped being fun so until I get the enthusiasm to reinstall it and try again I'm out.

Also, GT3s :D (they're ok in moderation but meh, so much else that's fun to race too).

Max, that's exactly how I felt at Misano last night. Had no idea the car was going to spin until it had already happened. The FF does suck compared to AC imho and there is something not right with the physics especially at slow speed when you can be doing 60mph barely using throttle or steering and still spin.

Also the lack of proper triple screen support in ACC is getting more annoying as I do find it really difficult to judge where turn in should be cause of the side-screen warping.

It's really annoying as AC is so good and if they just added the weather and daylight effects from ACC I would be happy to continue with AC.

I like the GT cars cause they are not too hard to drive! I hate all those old cars, that require driving sideways, its too much effort to master.

At the moment, I'm thinking of trying iRacing again and it's been years since I touched that!

it does that a lot, and ends up being a driving by numbers (the speedo) game,  rather than a driving by feel (AC!)

It also has(had?) the same problem as AC GT3 cars, a big slide or spin and the tyres overheat badly (way too much IMO) and you're driving on ice until they cool back down

That said, I'll probably try it again at some point in the hope its improved, because their online system is amazing and they have so many super quality tracks  :)

ha, odd reading those comments as i too just watched some I-racing vids to see how it was looking these days!  Have to say that the few vids i saw, it still looked like a detached cold environment, which is how i always found it, like a solo hot-lapping experience at an empty track. Even though the circuits are digitally scanned, they look clinical and lack track paraphanelia and lighting to bring them to life.  :-\

Must be something good about it as F1 stars Verstappen and Norris race with it regularly.

ACC supposedly has the new improved tyre model now, maybe thats why your ffb feeling is different. I havent spent enough time with ACC to gain a solid experience yet and feel the full effects of physics etc. Just snatched quick practise sessions for the few races we've run so far.

One thing for sure i certainly miss our bigger grid races  :'( and even regular drivers are dropping off the grid now.  I havent looked around yet for busier race leagues but may have too if we cant attract enough here.  :(

ACC has been a massive disappointment, it just feels like a demo. Graphically it looks really basic, the cars look like they are not touching the ground, theres no shadows. I gave up because the lack of real FFB (or is that because the tyres are really soft) I'm braking too early because through the corner i get no FFB to understand how i'm loading the tires up, i cant push through any of the slow corners and it was pot luck turning into the slower corner at the end of the back straight as to whether it would washout or turn.

The lack of chat, the inablity to understand the event i.e session lengths, the lack of help to understand the setup pages all contribute.

i totally disagree on the graphics being basic  ??? you must have your settings wrong or your pc isnt up to it. I get great ffb feel through my fanatec gear so no complaints on that front either. Will agree on confusing UI in race sessions though and that sim has issues to be resolved.

Anyway, theres a good old fashioned AC race using proper hairy armed race cars this week, so im sure i will see you all trackside  ;) :)

Possible, i tend to be cautious as running triples at 5760x1200 tends to tax things and have seemingly ben bought up to turn off or down shadows. However due to max cpu usage in this and and another (Division 2) advice has been to run no v-sync to try and cap the usage.

IS there any guide as to the effect all the settings actually have on frame rate?

I would gladly stick to AC as its the only one at the moment i feel like i'm driving the car.

Its been a common 'solution' as if i run it off, the cpu will site at 99-100% and I get game freezes. IF i try and limit the frame rate with v-sync it helps reduce the load on the cpu. Seems ot be a common issue with i5 processors with a few game engines.

It's really alive in AC, but in ACC it's a bit sub-dued imho. It's one of the better cars in ACC still.

Like you, I haven't spent ages with each car yet to see which one i like the best. I've spent loads of time in the other Porsche and then a little in the Audi and AMG and apart from that although I have tried all the other cars I've hardly done any laps in them.

I did a public server race last night in the Audi and it was so much better have a large grid of cars. Usual T1 lunatics but in general the behaviour was better then what I've seen in public servers before.

I've tried iracing a few times over the years but always give up (because shitty tyre physics)...

I swear the gods were listening, I saw iracing just released an update with a new tyre model for a few cars. As luck would have it I already own a couple of the updated ones so I gambled on a months sub and tried them.   The Corvette C6.r GT1 is actually good now,  the tyres are not on/off and wont kill you with no warning anymore (once they've warmed up!), and the FFB is much nicer so you can feel everything the car is doing once its dialled in. Skip barber felt ok too, though I only had a brief go in that and need to dial the FFB in more, but definitely an improvement

Why the heck didn't they do this years ago!

/end OT ,   back to your ACC race  :)
