I usually don't talk about car choices before the race, but things went like in Brno and I am going for Suzuki here. Not only I am faster with it than 850cc Mini, but I found setup which made it extremely fun to drive. (I mean as soon as rear tires heat up. With cold tires It has mind of it's own and I tend to disagree about the direction where should we heading to next... But as soon as rear tires gets green in XD it becomes awesome team mate.) :)

Very demanding track and obviously one of those which exceeds my driving skills  :(

First corner is really tricky. needed 5 laps to master it with the Imp.

Still slightly faster with the 850 Mini than with the Suzuki but no matter which car I take, far slower than AI.

Not decided which car to take.

Glad that I tested the track online. I realized that I had practiced the wrong version, the 1988 version with chicane  ???
The 1978 Version is a lot faster and required slight setup modification and the fuel consumption is lower. It will be an interesting race tonight.
Cu all later.

Sorry Nappi1 we have visitors for a long weekend over our Bank-holiday and with the beautiful hot weather I have not had any spare time to practice. So regretfully I will not be racing tonight! Have a good race folks! ;D

Found an acceptable rhythm in the 970 Mini in free practice but realized during quali that I would have finished in a seventh and last place in class for sure.
So I spontaneously switched to the 850 Mini for a secure third in class  ;D but could not complete a single faultless lap before quali finished.
During the race I noticed a strange behaviour of the car which I hadn't realized during my private session last weekend and had a lot of spins.
Cruising in last place and caused by a spin it looks like I ruined Salesman's race who couldn't avoid hitting me. Sorry mate!

However I like this version of the track although I was missing some seconds.  ::)

Extraterrestrial times by Markus in the Escort which I'm only able to achieve in a C3 Corvette by BLT  :P

And BTW: great race by Tony who came from last place to finish his pursuit race in 4th place  :thumbup1:

Thanks Nappe for organizing. CU at Riverside.

Due to a long summer break (holiday in Norway) I missed the Zandvoort race. I hope you had fun.
As Geoffers and I had the same points before the last race, this was the critical race. So I practiced more than usual but on the wrong track. The 1988 version with the chicane requires a shorter gearing. The fuel consumption of the Escort was about 10% too high not to pit on the 1988 version but only 5% on the 1978 version. Geoffers choose the Mini and I did not know, whether he had to pit or not.

So there were two possibilities: drive really fast all the time to gain an advantage of 30 seconds to have time for a pit or drive with an eye on fuel, saving whereever possible. After a bad start I was 3rd, then passed Geoffers and Salesman in the first lap. After this I tried to save fuel the whole race, short shifting all the time, lift and coast, and trying to gain a gap of 10 seconds to Geoffers. It worked out well and I am lucky to have won the Div1 Trophy. But there are 3 more  ;)
Grats to Geoffers for 2nd and Bob for 3rd place and grats to 850 podium: Nocatu, Nappe and Kurt.
Thanks Nappe for organizing and cu in 2 weeks!

Was going to use the Abarth for this one, but no matter how I drove it was around 2 laps short on fuel & also was not much fun around here with really bad understeer in the fast turns. I don't get on with the Escort 1.0 so tried the Mini which was great fun & was capable of doing the race without a pitstop even driving flat out all the time. Only trouble was it was 3s a lap slower than the Abarth.

From qualifying it was clear that there was no chance of beating Markus unless he had to make a pitstop. Got quite a good start & beat Markus into T1 but Salesman got ahead of both of us, my 2nd place didn't last long as Markus powered past on the next straight. He took Salesman for the lead at the end of the lap & I managed to pass Salesman too on the second lap. Markus was gradually pulling away but from the laptimes it was clear he was saving fuel & was unlikely to need a pitstop, I was driving as hard as I could but there was no way I was going to keep up, besides I had Clive closing in from behind. Clive was also faster than me but kept making errors & dropping back & eventually had a spin which took the pressure off.

Rest of the race was just a matter of reeling off the laps with Markus extending his lead & with Clive dropping out just as big a gap behind. Only error was a spin at T1 with about 3 laps left when the car got bit loose under braking, suddenly gripped again & turned sharp left :o.

Congrats to Markus on the win & Div1 title & to Bob in 3rd & Nocatu on the 850 win.

Contrary to what Kurt says it was not a good night for me. Far to many unforced errors saw me either spin or leave the track. Loved the track tho.........didn't know that there was a '78 version available.

EDIT: the next race in this series that I will be able to attend is this'n

21   23.09.2019   ****** (Evening race)   DIVISION 2

Over the past few weeks I have discovered that there are more difficult things to pass than Geoffers, Markus, Erling and Co. Currently I am suffering from an onslaught of gallstones on a daily basis, which is a pain I would not wish on my worst enemy.
Monday's race was typical of my recent days. I felt OK at the start of the race and I found the Escort an easy drive. I had done zero practice and was a little worried about the fuel, so I opted for one notch higher on the gear ratios, and for the first laps I kept things steady until I had some spare fuel available and then began to push a little.
Markus was away and quite obviously managing his fuel/pace in another Escort, but Geoffers and Salesman were just ahead in a Mini and a Corsa and they were not pulling away.  :)

Once I had settled down and found the right gears for each corner and the correct lines I was able to close on the two ahead. I got past the Corsa when he went grass cutting and set about closing down Geoffers.
All was going well until another gallstone decided to fight its way out of my system  :-\ It became increasingly difficult to focus on the racing and when I made yet another mistake I quit and went looking for some pain killers.
Grats to the podiums and I hope that I can get things sorted internally soon.
I intend to join races if I feel OK, but things can change very quickly and I will just quit if things get too uncomfortable.

yeah, that's the one I am planning to use. However GTL decided to not to run anymore. It starts in some very low resolution mode and crashes as soon as I am selecting the car skin. Trace.txt states that it is unable to setup GFX card to render 2560x1440x8 mode cubemap.

I don't get it. It was working already...
I'll try to reinstall GFX drivers as only thing changed between working and non-working was GFX car change from GTX 980 TI to GTX 1070

Tried drivers reinstall without and with using DDU... Did not have any effect. As last try, I decided to install at last Steam version as I have been using very old install of DVD version (with No-CD since Windows 7 install).

That did the trick. Luckily I was able to copy my profile and setups to new installation so after 4 hours of work, I am ready to test the lap count and stuff for Mondays Race...

Good point! No it doesn't. This is the fix required (both on the server and also for every driver) http://www.mediafire.com/file/hz8xhqcf99phh9p/RiversideGTL.zip/file

It removes two lines from both track version's .gdb files.
