that was another cracking race last night, really enjoyed it. Got to say i prefer this to ACC for proper GT racing.

Qualified 4th i think.

Race was nearly over before it started as some idiot went full speed down the start straight at the start lights and clattered me into the wall  ::) Rolling start...Read the flipping race announcement !  So i started the event with front and rear damage before i had gone 5metres  >:(
But race start went well from formation lap and i was in the thick of the action from the first corner with Simon attacking me while i chased Alberto ahead of me. This went of for a few laps until i could get heat in my mediums and then i started to pull away from Simon whilst still chasing Alberto for 3rd place really hard for about 15mins. Then i got an oversteer moment out of Malmedy...too much loud pedal!, just caught it but flatspotted my tyres and allowed Shark past. But it was fun re-chasing him and pressuring him for some payback  ;D He then pitted a lap before me so i gave it the beans for a lap until my own stop. I took fuel and tyres and emerged just ahead of a battling Porsche and BMW. But my cold tyres werent up to temp and they pressured me big time which created a superb 3 way intense battle for a few laps  :fencing: in which i eventually emerged the victor with a daring draft and late brake at Les combes  :) Great stuff.
I soon dropped them both and had a fairly lonely smooth run to the finish line to finish 4th. Car felt great, shame about the early damage as it cost me a lot of top end speed, otherwise i could have had a longer fight for 3rd  :(

This was an amazing victory for me against the 2 aliens usually in front of me!
This time the Pork was really too powerful in the straights gaining tenths very easily, and the pit-stop strategy (no tyre change) completed the opera.

Got 3rd in qualy a bit far from my pb.
During the first part of the race before the pit, I had a decent pace and could contain my delay from Max and Alex up to 10-12sec, after the pit I had 7 sec advantage from Max, who closed the gap 2 laps before the checkered flag, the last 5 minutes of the race I struggled like a beast to keep him behind (I believe we had an intensive and fair battle), but also had a lot of fun!!! ... only thanks to RSR more power I could stay in front of him ...

Fantastic race for me!
Thank you all for the nice racing evening!

Fun race, terrible result for me considering I dropped two positions but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Slowly getting better, but still making some major mistakes, but fewer and fewer :)

Max passed me after some laps as I made some mistakes. I got Max on the undercut but we were going side to side into Eau Rouge and I had yield as he had the race line into it, on the straight I just couldn't pull enough of a lead and he got me into Les Combes as I braked too early on the inside.

After I realized that Alberto went in for a splash and dash I was sad and settled for 3rd :P but I think if there was maybe 3 laps more we woulda had a lot of fun because it would be a 3 car train to the finish line.

Thanks everyone, nice size grid as well :)

I only ever recall doing Road America once or twice, so I'm not too optimistic about that one.

I knew it was going to be hard to beat the Vette and Porsche here, they are just so much faster.

Qually I was happy with 2nd, Pole might have been possible but I made a mistake and got sideways into Les Combes on both my hot laps so that was that.

The race start was important,  and I was lucky to just get up to Les Combes in front of Alberto,  so then it was just a case of stalking Alex and trying to pressure him for a mistake.  Eventually he was a little slow/wide though Pouhon and I was right on his tail into Stavelot and got a nice drag along the back straight. Side by side into Blanchimont was interesting but I wasn't lifting and just came out in front, then managed to pull a small gap in the next laps before he pitted. Then it was hammertime, and like a noob I dropped it going in to Stavelot and went wide through the gravel loosing a couple of seconds :-[

At the pit I had pre-selected my fuel + tyre change,  if I had any idea how to change that before you come in I would have cancelled the tyres, they were going away a bit but I could have easily made the flag without changing in the end.  I saw Alberto jump me and came out in full attack mode, closing him down at fast rate, but darn that Porsche, even with a tow and being right on his tail into Blanchimont he would just accelerate away out of the turn and gain several car lengths before the bus stop so I wasn't close enough to make a move. It was the same up the hill after Eau Rouge, even with a good run down the hill and being close enough for the tow he would pull a small gap and I had no chance to pass.

I did manage 1 pass on the penultimate lap into the hairpin at La Source, but I had to go deep to do it and the pesky Porsche just powered past me down the hill!

Much fun was had and I look forward to doing it all again next time  :)

I think I got the best result i could consider my disadvantage with the car. Even with Jonzo's damage in the slipstream I couldn't quite keep up and the Porsche, well that was just stupidly quick. Add to that that I have no choice but to change tyres cause the BMW on mediums is so far off the pace that I have to run softs (which have no chance of lasting) means I'm really struggling to make back all the time lost in the pits.

Any chance of some car balancing to even it up? :)

BTW, sorry to Stefan who was an innocent party when he rammed into my out of control car at the bus stop (which put me straight again, thanks! :D ;D)

yeh, had to take them all out  :D

Road america could be hard work too,  but I had a nice email from Porsche offering me a drive for Le Mans  :P

im away for that round which is a bummer as the Vette would shine there. It would have done at Spa as i was running an extra slippy setup until some idiot turned it into a 50pence piece before it got off the line ::)

Japan sounds interesting though, I'd like to go there one day  :)

I don't think I ever raced at Road America!  but I will try and stick with the F car for the season, though if its seconds off the pace at Le Mans who knows...

not really needed, the beemer only loses out on the power circuits with long straights. Its easily a match for most of the other cars once there are more corners involved, especially in Sharks capable hands (see the results for rounds 1&2). The porker has the best all round of the set just because its a newer evolution than the others and hence why Stephen asked if the faster guys could refrain from taking it at the beginning of the series.
Dont know what wing Simon ran at Spa but i was only on 3 rear to make the Vette more slippey, so he may have to do likewise for Road America.

Performance Balancing..........

I am not against using ballast to balance out the cars. I do not have the time (or setup and driving skill) to work out the benchmark lowest lap times for the four cars. This will also change depending on which type of track you do the testing at.

What track would be suitable for testing (IMHO it would need a long straight and some fast and slow corners) maybe Silverstone or Catalunya?
We would then need to do a bit of testing with ballast to decide how much ballast to fit?

Is anyone willing to carry out these tests?

Not sure if this helps, but I did some back to backs already

A nice twisty track
http://stracker.simracing.org.uk:50041/lapstat?track=sebring&cars=bmw_m3_gt2,ks_corvette_c7r,ferrari_458_gt2,ks_porsche_911_rsr_2017&valid=1,2&date_from=&date_to=
Porsche time is a little misleading because I messed up the 1st sector on that best lap and there is another 0.3 in there,  458 and Vette were on it!

Strangely at Spa the gaps were closer,  I did try Porsche but had to do it offline as the server was reset to another track, but with same track temps/grip it was possible to do a lap in the low 16s
http://stracker.simracing.org.uk:50041/lapstat?track=spa&cars=bmw_m3_gt2,ks_corvette_c7r,ferrari_458_gt2,ks_porsche_911_rsr_2017&valid=1,2&date_from=&date_to=

From the test race a while back at Interlagos the BMW was close to the Ferrari for me, with the other 2 faster...

Road America might give a decent set of results - some long straights,  and a mix of fast / med / slow turns

Edit:  not sure its really possible to blunt the porsches top speed advantage though, adding weight will only kill the accel a bit, top speed will still be higher so for Le Mans LOL
