Title: Re: UKAC Season 14 Can Am - Round 6 - Road Atlanta - Sep 25 Post by: Mark J on September 25, 2019, 09:45:37 PM +0100 I was looking forward to this race all day after a crap long day at work. Put the pc on nice and early only to find our internet was borked ::) 35mins later and it played ball but meant I was straight to qually with no warm up. Then got the second disappointment of the evening to see only 4 racers :(
Reasonably enjoyed the race anyway but my mind kept wandering and I made errors allowing bob past each time. Got past Bob again with 10mins to go but we inexplicably came together on the back straight ??? I couldn’t be any closer to the right hand kerb :-\. The crash into the wall bent my steering so car was undriveable, race over :( Title: Re: UKAC Season 14 Can Am - Round 6 - Road Atlanta - Sep 25 Post by: FullMetalGasket on September 26, 2019, 06:07:33 AM +0100 This might seem an odd question, but are you sure Bob could see you? All through practice and qualifying you weren't showing on either the AC placings or on P-tracker.
I don't think I could see you on the grid either? As for my race, it was fun but incredibly hard work hustling these animals around Road Atlanta. I had to radically adjust my setup from the previous tracks to make pace, previously I'd been concentrating on adding some oversteer to the car to increase pace. Here I almost reversed my setup adding as much push as I could in order to keep the rear in check under braking. Even after only 10 minutes I was sliding everywhere again, by the end of the race it was actually getting pretty hard to stay on track ;D It was a good fun season, shame we didn't get much of a turn out given how good the cars are. Thanks for organising it Mark and Pete Title: Re: UKAC Season 14 Can Am - Round 6 - Road Atlanta - Sep 25 Post by: Bob on September 26, 2019, 08:16:03 AM +0100 In my race MJ only 3 started, just presumed you had connection problems, had a long lonely race, slowed down dramatically to save fuel with one lap to go and was lapped on last lap, the only car I saw all race after the front 2 went off into the distance.

Really? is that why Fabri asked if i was there at the beginning? I could see all of you and enjoyed battling Bob on occasion! bloody weird if he didnt know i was even there ! :o But you saw my messages? must have as fabri even said ciao Mark to me! Thats really strange. I left on 35mins of the race when i drafted and overtook Bob on the back straight and he clipped my left rear pitching me into the wall at top speed :'( Bugger  Loved the cars and track combos for this, cant understand why more didnt want to race it. ??? All i hear is e-sports this and that these days, you would think the servers were flooded with new drivers but nobody is turning up in this part of the woods to race :'( Title: Re: UKAC Season 14 Can Am - Round 6 - Road Atlanta - Sep 25 Post by: Fabri Fibra on September 26, 2019, 09:19:12 AM +0100 I didn't see you, Mark, on track and also on server pilots list.
But I saw your messages. I thought you were not in race, but only spectator. About setup, I stayed with one similar to Mosport. Car was not friendly and really hard to exit from slow corners. I spun only 2 times. Title: Re: UKAC Season 14 Can Am - Round 6 - Road Atlanta - Sep 25 Post by: Bob on September 26, 2019, 09:30:34 AM +0100 I had the loneliest of races and cant understand what happened at your end, will look at the replay to see if that sheds any light on it.
Title: Re: UKAC Season 14 Can Am - Round 6 - Road Atlanta - Sep 25 Post by: Bob on September 26, 2019, 09:40:32 AM +0100 Only 3 cars in my replay. The car and track was the best, a great series, thanks.

All i hear is e-sports this and that these days, you would think the servers were flooded with new drivers but nobody is turning up in this part of the woods to race :'( That's the exact same thing which happened to me a few years ago during one of our AC races when I switched from wlan to lan connection while on the server and without a rejoin (see here: https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=14527.15). I wonder if you did the same last night? Title: Re: UKAC Season 14 Can Am - Round 6 - Road Atlanta - Sep 25 Post by: Mark J on September 26, 2019, 01:08:47 PM +0100 i use a hard wired connection from my pc to the router so no wifi-ing going on. It had taken me nearly 40mins to get the router working prior to the race but assumed it was all running fine when i joined qually with you guys. Thats bizarre that i could see and race you all the whole time!
Did wonder how the heck Bob had collected me after my fine overtake  but know the straight kinks left slightly and thought he might have mis-judged the proximity. :P I also fell off the track at one point when i saw Fabri run wide at T1 and thought id be able to pressure him by closing him down, but out-handled my capabilities ;D now i know he wasnt even aware of my presence ::) ;D |
