Server: simracing.org.uk Mondays
Password: see above (#post_event_password)

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: None

Just been checking the records and it seems that this is only the 2nd time that UKGTL have visited this track.

Oh, and last time Geoffers finished in last place  :o

I am up in Edinburgh for this, so will miss it  >:( I do like this series so will be there whenever I can
I should be ok for next Monday, when I am away weds/thurs/Fri.

Might get back in time for this week's weds event, but will miss next week, and next week's R3E event.

Sorry for messing up your race Tony, in the previous race the car rolled once I engaged first gear so I figured I'd be a bit conservative off the line and I managed to stall it... :-\

Cracking start but the car in front of me obscured Nocatu's stalled car and I just clipped him losing a wheel so race over. Shame as I thought this was a superb circuit.

T1 took me out, went in a little too fast trying to keep Luis in sight and lost the rears and did the slow spin into the armco.  Personal best however in # of laps completed.  Good track for these cars I think, they are just a little too wicked for me.  See you all at Rouen.........

Managed to be in practically every position in this race, first, last and somewhere in between. A shame Geoffers slight contact with the armco lost him a wheel but this didn't prevent Roger and Saleman to put the pressure on. Too much looking in the rearview mirror resulted in missing a corner and an extra spin trying to make up for the lost time. Ended up somewhere in between the leaders and the racing trio: Clive,Bob and Luis. Slowed down a bit to join this party and for a number of laps we looked like real formula 3 racers ! Then Clive and Bob made unlucky mistakes and our glorious group fell apart. what a shame. Luis and I stuck together to the finishline. Well done Luis 3rd! And well done Clive for bringing the car in in one piece. And ofcourse hats off for Roger and Saleman for a solid win and second.
What strikes me about these cars: the suspension is quite vulnerable, it doesn't need much force to lose a wheel (or two) and end your race. Also it needs to be driven very delicately unlike the other cars we're used to drive in. Tyre wear can be quite strong and cause sudden loss of grip. And finally, this isn't the car to start your race with 4 or 5 superfast laps,( it mostly ends your race in a terminal spin) and for me it works best to try and find some confidence over the first 6 or 7 laps. That said, I do have to admit that I mostly forget about all these points as soon as the flag drops!

Cheers, Dan

Grats to the podium and those who survived to the end...especially Salesman who I saw lose a wheel on the final lap and drag his car to the finish. ;) Also to Rog who seemed to have these cars sorted and some great pace and control  :notworthy: and capable of bothering the resident aliens ( if they survive the early laps!!  ::) )

Much as Dan said  :-\
These cars do appear to be ultra sensitive to "over driving", and again, just like Dan said, I fail to heed my own advice when the flag drops!!
Pushing even slightly too hard just seems to burn the rubber off the tyres in a few laps and basically just screws the rest of your race.... at least that how it seems to me! Also, if one finds the back end getting away there is no controlling it, opposite lock seems to be unavailable or ineffective ( or both!!) and a trip to hit the barriers head on is inevitable. Sometimes a wheel is lost, sometimes two  :-\

I was simply determined to finish at least one race in this series, regardless of final position, and so I tippy toed around to 60% distance before stopping for fresh rubber. I had fuelled for the whole race at the start so it should have been a quick stop except I faffed around selecting and un selecting various options and wasted about 20 seconds...…not that it would have made any difference to the results lol.

On a more positive note.
I did finish the race despite trying to demolish the car and/or the scenery on multiple occasions.
I had none of the freezes and delays as cars joined for this race  ;D. I have been through all of my installs and checked that the settings were all the same regarding ISDN connection and the "cars only join in garage" etc. ( one or two installs had random variations although I do not recall ever looking at/changing any of those variants. Hopefully whatever the issue was it has been resolved.

My best lap times on full fuel are not too far off the race pace of the fast guys, so maybe there is something to work on  ::)
