Title: UKGTL Season 19 1972 French Formula 3 - Oulton Park - Dec 9

Championship standings HERE (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=752&theme=5)

Grid/server capacity: 22

Track: Oulton Park (GP 54-72)

Cars allowed: Alpine A364

Practice: ~19:20 (60 mins)
Qualifying: 20:20 (20 mins)
Race: 20:40 (26 laps)

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal
Pit stops required: No

Server: simracing.org.uk Mondays
Password: see above (#post_event_password)

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: Avoid going off at Knickerbrook. There is a hole in the surface that you may fall into. Also avoid the RH side of the track by the first tree on the RH side after the pit lane exit. There is an invisible obstacle there.

IMPORTANT

We are experiencing a glitch with the lobby. It has a game running called Simracing.org Mondays which is showing the wrong value for fuel use (x2)

This may be fixed before tomorrow night, but in case it is not, please join the game called Simracing.org F3, as this does have the correct values set.

Thanks

WT

I might be joining you guys this evening, but it all depends on how I feel. TBH I don't think it will affect the table too much either way lol. Matt has been kind enough to donate a setup that is light years better than anything that I had cobbled together, but that does not mean that I will be competitive lol.

I won't go into details about my op last week, suffice it to say that there were quite literally a couple of heart stopping moments, both during and after the procedure. Gradually feeling better day by day but it is "up and down". Just taking things easy and small steps forward.

If I do materialise on the server, it is quite likely that I will quit before the end of the race as I cannot say that I feel any competitive urge ATM, just want to do something mildly interesting.

I would like to apologize for the incidents in the race, I think I will have to make a list, as there were several.
I believe my ping (200ms) was bad because when there were several cars near me it was horrible!

On the initial lap, a touch with Geoffers, forgive me. I slowed down waiting to get back in position but then he let me pass, which I didn't understand.
A few turns later, I had a touch with my friend Salesman, to whom I also apologize. (managed to broadcast on Twich?)
Then it was my dear colleague W Tony's turn, speechless.
In the end, when Roguk and I were in a nice position dispute, Rocket Bob appears and rips the wheel off my car.
End of race for me!
Congratulations to pilot Nocatu for the victory!

Hi Osni, our incident was my fault, you had the apex and I turned in on you. So it is I who should be apologising, not you.

Even so, I was sad about the fact. This is not my intention. I want everyone to have fun on the track.

I was kind of lucky last night, first Osni disconnected right before the end of qualifying, then Geoffers understeered at the first corner and finally Salesman who was quite close lost it at the hairpin. It was more or less tyre management after that. I had built a gap but after a certain point Rog kept coming closer. The car slid too much a few times nothing dramatic though so a few laps before the race finished Rog was in my tail. He kept trying until the very last corner where I think, with hindsight, that I could have given him a bit more space, I feel as if I shut the door kind of aggressively and he nearly lost it. It was very close at the end, half a second, a very exciting finish!

No problem Osni, I seem to be fated in this series to have some sort of incident on the first lap. You were clearly faster than me in the early laps, so I didn't see any point in us battling over 8th place at that stage in the race so let you pass.

Race went quite well after the first lap & I eventually got up to 3rd place & was closing on Rog & Nocatu when the dreaded tyre wear caught me out. After a couple of spins my downfall came at Knickerbrook with another spin & a brush with the barriers which removed a front wheel  ::).

Congrats to Nocatu, Rog & Bob on the podium.
