Season 35 – 1967 F1 – Round 8 – Road America

The eighth race in the 1967 F1 series finds us at Road America in the USA. The track covers 640 acres (2.6 km2) within Wisconsin’s Kettle Moraine. It is near the Kettle Moraine Scenic Drive and has hosted races since September 1955. It currently hosts over 400 events a year. Road America has not been modified and retains its original configuration of 4.048 miles (6.515 km) in length and consisting of 14 turns. The track features many elevation changes, along with a long front stretch where speeds approaching 200 mph (320 km/h) may be reached. One of the best known features of this course is a demanding right hand turn known as "the kink." Road America's open seating allows spectators to venture throughout the grounds. Grandstands are available in several locations, as well as permanent hillside seating where crowds of more than 150,000 can be accommodated.

The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.  Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

Please read the championship specific rules on the championship standings page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=690&theme=6).

Well, as I had a Lotus under my ass, it wasn´t to hard to be fast. And after a medium start and the collision behind me in T2 I could easy pull away..that was Road America - a great racetrack!
Well done Jonny and Tris (great driving after your incident)!
Gratulations also to all finishers!

Hopefully c u next time!

After the confusion in t2 and Greg's mistake that started from the pits,
the only decent thing I could do was to get 2nd.
That's what I did, it would be imprudent, impossible and stupid to try to follow Tim,
who was 13 when he wanted!

Congrats Tim for super win!! and congrats tristan for super recovery!!!

special feeling to Pelle for leaving so early, and Greg who drank a lot of beer
before the race and had to help with the physiological needs before the start race.

Congrats Tim, Jonny, and Tristan!

My good luck ended this week. I also didn't make sure I was well prepared. I was late for qualifying and I didn't realize my cpu had reverted to it's default settings. I've been using an AMD Ryzen apu (cpu + gpu in the same package). It's been running the Sports Cars well at 60 fps if I set the cpu to 3.8 GHz and the gpu to 1500 Mhz at 720p and 4X anti-aliasing. Occasionally I was getting fps drops into the mid 50s. Being late to practice also didn't leave me enough time to pee before the start. :) I did everything wrong this week except my lap times.

It was nice that starting in the pits didn't put me past the starting line. It was also kind that many of the drivers let me pass almost immediately. I wasn't expecting that. You guys were very kind. :)

Just like I drove the piss out myself as the race was starting, I drove the piss out of the car once I got started. The Lotus didn't like me trying to catch Jonny. The DFV couldn't take the duress. :(

I wish I wouldn't have missed the start. If I could have made it through the first lap or two, I might have been able to keep a little pressure on Tim. I'm still capable of going faster here. I'm disappointed I didn't make sure that my bladder and computer were ready for this race. The rest of me was ready.

We've got some good track makers. They did a beautiful job on this track and I enjoy driving it.

Thanks for the fun guys. As usual, I appreciate you letting me race with you.

:) It wasn't beer Jonny. It was tea.
