Notes:
(1) Full-time drivers should aim to arrive during Practice 1.
(2) Reserve drivers should not connect to the server until Practice 2.

(4) See  UKGTR Season 3 Info (https://www.simracing.org.uk/index.php?ind=lm2&group=27) for general Endurance Season 3 info.
(5) Please make sure you are fully aware of the UKGTR Rules (https://www.simracing.org.uk/index.php?pid=7)
(6) The season will be run using a UKGTR carpack v1.5 (http://www.ukgtr.org/downloads/SROU_Car_Pack_1.5.zip) which will need to be installed prior to racing. Details of this pack can be found here (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=1235.msg17247#msg17247).

Hopefully a few more'll turn up for this one, only 20 of 28 FT runners and only 1 reserve.  Room for 36 on the server people 8) would be awesome to get 30 or so racing at once.  Good to see some new guys out there at Barca though :)

Hope you do turn up again SBG you're pretty quick in that 550 even if it is an unpredictable beast of a car

I planned on racing Barca m8 and I guess Jon had as well ;). Just that footy was on and just had a new system, so no real time to practice etc. Prolly 2 more at least for this 1 :D.

In light of the very cunning plan at least one driver came up with for Barcelona  I have updated both this race announcement and the UE3 championship page (https://www.simracing.org.uk/index.php?ind=lm2&group=27) as follows:

You cannot take your mandatory stop at the end of the pace lap, or with less than 1 lap to go.

U'd wish people wouldn't try to be like Schumi... Now wouldn't ye?
Wasn't it addressed btw by Shark that there weren't to be any tricks? Or was that in a fun race? :)

Nah, it was really lack of reading. I didn’t notice the mandatory pit in the rules and only when the race ended I noticed something was wrong by reading the chat. I didn’t do it deliberately but truly by lack of attention to the rules. I don't know what's worse. :-[

Going to be a right old sweaty affair tonight. It's so muggy here in Harlow.
A real test of concentration.

Same here. Even with the blinds shut it's about 28 degrees in here during the day.

But I think I will set my air conditioner up before the race tonight :)

Well was going pretty well then I hit a double downshift just after I lapped shark and spun. Last time I have a really low 1st gear :(
Spun going into the 2nd bend on next lap then the heat made me realise that it was time to call it a day. Sweat dripping everywhere. Just couldn't muster the will to go on. Was quite pleased with C5R, thought it'd get blown away but was only losing 0.1-0.5 a lap not to bad. I'll deffo take it for the next enduro race. Now i'm gonna place me knackers in some cold water :P Can't believe my t-shirt's wet through after about 25mins of racing. Good luck to you 1h40min men ;)

going just fine until a friend call me on skype and wen I went back was crashed a had to pit, wen I get back in race I was lapped by everyone, and lost concentration so spin a couple of times and then lost connection

Well happy with third, even more happy with only 3 self spins, which given the temperature and the fact two of them came quite late, and probably kept Mo more interested than he should have been ;D, are almost excusable.

Good work by the NGT guys getting out of the way as well :thumbup1:

Not bad considering no practice until joining the server due to work/football.

Can't make next week due to being away for the weekend but glad with my progress and the Team points

Good work Zacari but gutted to see you pointing the wrong way when you let Rich past out of the hairpin.

That was a sweaty gruelling affair.

Well done to Luis for wining NGT. I could not keep the Mosler on the circuit. The marble effect of live track at Magny Cours is way over done, it was making driving impossible. All in the same boat I guess though, so no excuses I was pretty poor tonight. Very inconsistent.

Will have to look at the replay to see what happened at the start. Was a bit of carnage. Luis and I at the front of NGT had to lock out brakes avoiding GT cars ahead who appeared to be stationary. Either a massive warp or something went wrong in the GT field. Pops the cheeky sod came flying past me and Luis at that point, deciding that taking a different line and overtaking was safer than trying to come to a standstill (probably a very wise move). ;D

Had great fun battling with Pops, TT and Luis for the first 20 minutes or so. Then it was a case of mistakes every now and then and having no grip whatsoever. Was really hard work and disgustingly sweaty.

Not sure what the GT result was. Looked like 2 Shark drivers in the top 3 though, did Zacari win?

That was a sweaty one ;D

Got a new PB in qually to get 4th on the grid but then at the end of the parade lap as we were accelerating, Truetom Luis and Shark seemed to stop in a cloud of smoke, I thought there was a big pile-up :-\ however, a gap opened up and I couldn't really stop safely so I just carried on. I'm really not sure whether I did the right thing or not, I'll leave that to the mods I guess... Sorry to the guys I held up though if I was at fault.

Had some high pressure racing as Shark and Luis queued up to overtake me. I manfully struggled for a while to keep them off (I think Sharky span cos I was too slow :D). Luis, then Shark got past But I was just ahead of Truetom at midway.

I then stupidly went off just a couple of laps after my pitstop so I didn't see Truetom again :( Had some grat fun chasing down Whitham near the end :)

Well a really mixed race for me there. Qualified 7th (I, know, i, know I was in a GT, but let me enjoy being so far up the grid for once  ;D) Anyway, got going, car felt good then I clipped one of bollards in the last chicane and span. Then watched what seemed like 50 cars go streaming past. Got going again making up places and bugger me lost concentration and spun (cue back of grid again) Then the real p***er happened, I was done for not once, but TWICE by invisible bollards, lost loads of places again. Eventually got into 5th then had to pit. By the time I got out I was down to about 8-9th, then s**t ran wide on cold tyres lost loads of places again. Thought right, I need to concentrate here and managed to eventually get to 5th, next car was over a minute ahead so I just drove a very conservative end to race maintaining the gap between me and Luis.

My shirt is soaked. I really don't want to know how sweaty drivers irl would be after racing with an race suit :o

Nice race, but why o why do I spin out everytime I see the driver who is a position in front of me ::) Without that I could have got an even better result :)

Got a few nice double downshifts too on top of that. But a good result for me nonetheless :)

Title: Re: Endurance Championship - Season 3, Round 2, Magny Cours - 11th June
Post by: Truetom on June 11, 2006, 11:08:49 PM +0100
At the end of pace lap I was in the right position to see a cloud of smoke and a stationary car, one of the GTs. Saw Loius and Shark slow down and went to the left to avoid the expected pileup. Then Popa came through like a torpedo, like "Whoosh!"  :o  and I thought he's gonna go to pieces and take some others with him. Lol, the gap must have been just the porker size  :P as it seemed totaly walled to me.  ;D

Well, I was a bit left behind 'cause I slowed down too much so I had to work it up one by one. Had some duels with Dan Minton, Popa, Shark and Louis before pitstops. Seems like Popa had some difficulties while I was in the pits - he was in front at the time, but when I left the pits he was nowhere to be seen.

Came out right after Shark and with fresh tyres I was able to be close. Was looking for a chance to pass but got disturbed by an overtaking GT (not lapping) and though I didn't have to let him by, I did so 'cause it could be carnage. I lost 4 seconds in this and Shark was able to drive away. Seems all the time some or another sharky was underfoot.  >:(

Anyway, I got mixed up with GTs who were in the same lap and was looking more into the rear mirror than through the windshield and lost loads of time in the process. The difference to Shark was 20 seconds and the next behind (Pops I suppose) was also about 20 sec behind. That was about 30 minutes before the end. It was a third NGT position so I settled to make it as it was. Then Shark made a mistake and then another and I was able to pass. Tricky, risky, etc. as my tyres were going to the end. Was being very careful and so Shark came less than 1 sec after me over the finish line.

Tough race, nice result! Grats to Louis, great driving. Shark had one of his lesser evenings today (lucky me  ;D  ) and Popa is driving better and better.  :thumbup1:  Too bad MJ couldn't make it.  :2guns:

Dunno who won, congrats to the winner!  :D

TT

Totally wiped after that, not a good race from my pov at least!

Quali was fine, P1 easily once I managed to get a lap in.  The driving standards from one or two people were a bit lacking and a couple of laps got ruined by people on their outlap not letting a faster car through.  If you're on an out lap and someone appears in your mirrors, get the hell out of the way! ::) :-\ If I get held up by a slower guy on a hot lap, fair enough, no issue there at all.

Race started fine, then on lap 3 or so I hit one of those :censored: bollards in the final chicane.  After that I never got the rhythm back, too many slow speed spins to count which was very random!  I ran with almost an identical setup to what I used in the sprint and it felt faaar worse on worn tyers.  Came home second, grats Rich and Luis for the wins 8)

Well i kinda messes up on the fuel i needed for that race i put in 118 liters but coming to end I new it was not going to be enough, I tryed to short shift which let pops close up faster than normal. i made mistake and let him though after that I could see that I had a big gap on the driver behind and decided to pit again letting pops out of my sight.

 Congats to the winners

My plan worked flawlessly as I made a pit stop this time  ;D

I was undecided between going to race or to see the rest of the Portugal-Angola for the World Cup. By half-time Portugal was winning 1-0, with a medium exhibition and the game wasn't very interesting. So I decided and went for the race instead. That was best choice as the second half didn't brought any changes to the score.

Qualifying run well taking pole in NGT.
At the start it happened like Shark and Truetom already pointed out. A cloud of smoke and a couple of GT cars stopped in track. I braked hard and dodged right to avoid the GT's.
I dropped 2nd behind popabawa. Tried to follow close but in one turn I had to break a bit harder then expected and Shark take the opportunity and took 2nd. Then it was Shark having some difficulties and I went back to 2nd. I tried to put as much pressure as I could on popabawa until I was able to take the lead.
There was a point where I was a bit confused as I didn't know who I got behind if GT's or NGT's but tried as best as I could to get out of the way when I saw GT's behind me.
It was a good race in all. Congrats to Rich for the win.

Cheers.

Another thing I noticed yesterday, especially in qualifying was that FPS was all over the place. It was especially inconsistent at the hairpin at the end of the straight. One of the most important corners to not have jerks in the graphics. Was making it quite tricky to get a decent qually lap in (well it's at least a good excuse :whistling:). I spent all but the last 8 minutes of qualifying setting up the car for the race, so didn't leave myself much time to do the business. I was 1 second off my qualifying PB and scarily close to being 5th on the NGT grid.  :wheelchair:

I should really have turned overclocking off with all the extra air temperature, but don't actually think it was that that was causing the wierd FPS changes as some others mentioned it too?

I also noticed some jerkiness but I think it's Magny by itself rather then any other thing.
I had it during qualifying and the initial 4 to 5 laps, then it went way, thankfully

I noticed others were mentioning the FPS so I checked mine and I was still getting 60+ on the start grid which is pretty normal for me :-\

I think it was because at the hairpin you can see all the way over the pit area, so it was having to do all the stuff for the cars sitting in the garage. Very odd, as you say grid FPS was fine. My system can run 52 car grids with max settings so it's obviously a bit of a Magny Cours/GTR thing.

Scary huh Shark? We're gonna get you in the end. Oh yes... It might be Endurance season 24, but we'll get there  :P

Bah that match was mad, they need to change this 'already punished so can't do anything' nonsense, there's no way Figo should get away without a ban!  Will be a nervous Saturday afternoon me thinks...
