Pit stops required: No

Server: simracing.org.uk Wednesdays
Password: see above (#post_event_password)

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: None.

Nordschleife, what a shame dense fog and rain aren’t implemented in GTL. Luckily steep descends, nasty curbs, unforgiving barriers, bumps and blind corners are !

That's why I asked.

70s Nordschleife

two points of interest: The pitlane entrance can easily be missed and another full lap on low fuel means end of race. So better practice a pitstop.
There is a bypass right after the lefthand corner of the back straight which saves you a complete outlap on your way to a timed one.

Cheers, Dan

Not in this one but there will be soon another race ran on variation of this track where you need to pit at least twice.  So practising pitting wont go wasted. ;)

Really looking forward to this one (although the track has some nirvanas - Breidscheid Bridge & Hohe Acht).
I hope I catch a good day  ::)

Somehow managed to load a wrong setup. Didn't realise until I came to the long straight. Game over.

I am really amazed with this circuit. As a Racing fan i know it's name of course but i have never drove here mostly because my sim racing career is mainly Formula 1 related. I have started learning the track just 2-3 hours before the race and knew it is going to be very though. But i have made a promise to my self to try and not make any big mistakes here and finish. The pace was not so important for me this time as i knew i was going to struggle.

The race for me was a little bit lonely because the guys in front of me were clearly faster and i had to fight only for P8 for few laps with Matt but we had great chase.

Lap after lap i was making progress, i was starting to gain confidence and i have learned in motion. Every lap was better, no matter the time as i was closing in to making my goal fact, but at the last lap, after commentating a lot there :D i have made that big mistake :( ::) :helpsmilie: And this is the thing that i am not happy at all. I prefer finishing outside the Top 10 but without big mistake here.

Congrats to Hristo for the win, the podium guys and everyone able to finish :)

Chose the 904 as I found a good setup and the Elan looked far more tricky for me.

I know the track from countless visits (about 100 I think) as a spectator (I live about 60 km from there)
an 4 laps on my own on a bicycle during the 80's. I still love it but it's always a new challenge.

Could improve my pb by 10 seconds to 9:11 in quali which made me rather optimistic for the race
(in reality the fastest laptimes of the 904/4 were in 1964 9:35 and in 1965 9:26 (1000km race), both times achieved by Ben Pon
https://www.racingsportscars.com/races/search.html?track=N%C3%BCrburgring&from=1964&to=1965 (https://www.racingsportscars.com/races/search.html?track=N%C3%BCrburgring&from=1964&to=1965)).

But then I made all possible mistakes, beginning from a lousy start and many small faults & offs during the first two laps and
culminating in hitting the wrong gear (2nd instead of 4th) after having passed Fulvio at the end of lap one ???.

So I found myself in my usual position at the back of the pack at the end of lap one and had my usual lonely race  :( about
40 seconds - I think - behind Roger. During the remainder of the race I could manage to get closer to Roger finishing about one
second behind him in last position. So at least a partly satisfying end.  8)

When Dimitar told me yesterday he had a race at the Nordschleife, it got me excited enough to come out of retirement and take part!  ;D

I was expecting the Lotus to be better around the track, but it turned out the Porsche, with its 5 gearbox and wider torque range, was much better suited to tackle the large variety of corners. I did not want to spend too much time setting up the car, so instead looked up through the online folders to try and find some decent setup. Fortunately there just happened to be one in the regular Nurburgring folder, and with a bit of tweaking of the gears, tyre pressures, diff and shocks, it was really fast and predictable to drive.

Wasn't expecting to take pole with my Q lap, so that was surprising, but then I lost a lot of ground after the start, then lost it under braking for T1 and nudged Micha. Luckily we managed to continue dragging along the armco on the outside.

Not sure if it was the engine down on resource (%) or my gears or my tyre pressures, but I was always losing out on acceleration in general, which made overtaking difficult and maybe even impossible, had it not been for the mistakes of those in front of me. I also made several big mistakes, on lap 2, 4 and 5 respectively. Lap 2 was just as I took the lead and lost focused when I thought of having to do almost 4 laps on my own. The mistakes on last two laps were for a different reason though - I was trying to improve on my fastest lap time and it was going quite well both times, but taking such big risks bites you back, inevitably. Fortunately the trees around the track are not solid  :D

Manfred was suddenly a huge threat on the final lap, so I just eased off and brought it home. Kinda disappointed with those mistakes, because I was on course for a 8:53 and maybe even a 8:52.

Congrats Manfred for the great recovery and everyone else who managed to survive. Particular congrats to Dimitar who somehow managed to both qualify and complete the race without actually knowing the track!  :o

Good race for the first couple of laps with Dan & Hristo, but having got a clear lead on lap 3 I made three stupid mistakes in a short space of time. One of these involving Daz who could not avoid my car stranded in the middle of the track, sorry Daz. After the mishaps I was down to 7th, then Micha went off, I slipstreamed past Erling on the straight & despite another off track excursion got 4th on the last lap when Daz flipped at the Karussell.

Congrats to Hristo, Manfred & Dan.
