Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules (https://www.simracing.org.uk/index.php?pid=7). Note in particular that we will be using the new pit lane speed limiter starting procedure.

Since Team Shark doesn't yet have an official Healey paintjob I guess I will have to be Elan Man.

Well, I tried the Elan, really I did, but I hate it. Just don't get it at all. ???

Slow Cobra or TVR for me I think. I'd take the Healey but it'll be seriously outpaced at Magny GP.

It is allowed Greg.

The stupid GTL server has to be set to GTC-65 then restarted for it to pick it up properly as it loses the car choices. It's a pain, but whenever I start the GTL server I run it twice to get round this BUG.

Falcon is TC-65.

What happened Dan? ???...i was looking forward to a great battle on track after the qually fight  :-\  One minute you were behind me on the warm up lap, then not  :-X

Fantastic race from start to finish, didnt know what car to take as i enjoyed driving the Ferrari 275, the TVR and the GT40. Went for the Tiv in the end even though i was a few secs faster in the GT. I wanted some good close racing.

The qually sesh was great, traded times with Dan and T.Cooper for most of the session, sitting nicely behind the aliens up front in their GT40's (like they need 'em :P ) in 6th place which i eventually qualied at. Even beat some GT40's which i was very pleased with  8)

Race was superb, i stayed about 1-1.5 secs just behind Greg in his GT40 for about 11 of the 20 laps with T Cooper in another GT40 about 4 secs back, until my back end got a bit out of shape twice in one lap...i think the tyres were starting to tell me i was pushing too hard to stay with Greg ::)
I fell back into the clutches of TC who closed up on me for a couple of laps. But i then eased away from him to a 4 sec gap once again and after getting nicely by a few gentlemen backmarkers, who were having their own scrap, (cheers guys) brought the car home in a cool 6th place behind the GT40 gang.

Great stuff, really enjoyed it and my TVR setup felt great all the way through. I expected the tyres to give up the ghost towards the end but i was still able to do laps within a second of my race best of 1:58.

Took an Elan, and just managed to break the 2 minute barrie in qual. Had a good clean enjoyable scrap with PRibero (E-Type), Mooman (Elan) and Shark (E-Type). The end of the race was a bit of a nightmare though. Within a short space of time, and while I was in the middle of my own battle, I was lapped by the leaders, lapped some backmarkers, and was passed by a Cobra unlapping himself. All a bit hectic, just about manged to get though unscathed after taking evasive action a few times.

Think the spread of performance of the cars was too great really, for safe and competitive racing.

Thanks for a good race guys, tried my best to stay out of the way of the front runners. Had a good battle with Jamera i think for a few laps for 19th or 20th position, but kept losing out to the sideways happy corvette - it got the better of me in the second half of the race - wish i had gone with something else now...

Anyway, a great race, a great turnout - thanks to everyone who drove tonight  ;D

Good race
Had a nice battle with LeH - I had no realistic chance to keep in first position though as the GT40 is better on the brakes and cornenring. After getting passed I tried to repass straight away on the exit, but the run to the chicane wasnt long enough to be able to pull it off.
I than tried to keep close and was managing to stay close for many laps, but I than got dissapering cars for a moment and slightly touched LeH - sorry for that - your car suddenly was closer than before and I couldnt do anything. After this mistake I was a bit further behind and the gap started to rise slightly after that. There was also lots of traffic and I tried to not disturb the battles too much - and I almost lost it into the chicane (I had to be very careful because I allready had two cuts warnings by than)
I still am very happy with the result - pole and best race lap with final second position.
In qually I flashed my lights at Gymer - I am sorry for that - it was basicly a reflex from the races (allready concentrating heavily by that point). I realised I cocked up and therefore stopped and let you continue with your lap.

well... i certainly screwed that up. Decided to do a 1 stop strategy because I didn't know whether my tyres would last. Pity I had a bit of a crash the lap before I came into the pit. I entered the pits, and accidently fixed the damage yet I didn't put any fuel in. I sat in the pits while the pitcrew repaired my car for 126 secs.

Came in again 2 laps later because of no fuel, and put what I thought was 10 laps in... but no, I had put in 10 litres or something stoopid. So back 2 laps later and putting proper fuel in! By then, 3 laps down!! :)

That AC cobra was a handful, not tried GTL in such a long time.... think I might have to take part in this more often so I can brush up on my skills! :)

Thanks for avoiding my spinning AC Cobra chaps :)

P.S. Note to self... turn on incar chat so you know whats going on at the start :)

I agree, there was a very clear dividing line between the 2 classes.

Next weeks race should be closer. Something slightly different - Only the slow 76 cars allowed!  ;D ;D ;D

Many leagues consider the GT40 as a 76 class car -- even our points scheme has it mixed in w/76ers.  Definitely outclasses the other GTC-65 cars (except Pero in a Cobra... :P).

I couldn't pull off a good qual time, but it was enough and I pretty much knew the order before starting out anyway, no real surprizes.  The race itself was pretty boring since the 2 aliens took off at an amazing race pace and ASSASSINO & I were out in front of everyone else.  The GT40 is still a good handful, though, and did its best to keep me honest -- especially those last 3 laps, wowsa.  Kudos to the lappers, very clean from what I saw.

Missed Ruskus today, though!  [Not for my points, of course, hehe....]

Probably my most enjoyable race to date. There was a bit of a scuffle on the formation lap between a big gap being opened up, people accelerating hard to catch up then braking hard I got caught out and spun to the back. Tbh he probably did me a favour, because I actually got a chance to race this time around rather than putting in laps on my lonesome. For the race I uppped the gear ratios to save my engine on the long straight, but this turned out to be a mistake since I had poor acceleration and probably lost about 1 1/2 seconds or so a lap. I had a bit of a fight for a few laps with will16v. while I was faster than him over most of the circuit, I could only get by out of the first corner which he easily made up again on the straight.

Sorry for crashing into bill when he spun early on out of the final chicane, I was too close to avoid hitting:(

Missed Ruskus today, though!

How sweet :-* ;D.

I broke my pedals of my DFP. I had the 80% bug last GTR race. I openend the pedals up and the wires of the pods were almost broken. Only the plastic was holding them together. I went to the shop today, but they only had a different version of the DFP, so I said no. Now I'm gonna have to wait for a whole new DFP which will arrive in 2 weeks I hope.
I tried using a gamepad but that was awefull, I had no idea what to do with it .

There are 2 types of Capri in GTL. One is the brown yukkie one which is slow and the other is the fast white and blue one. The brown yukkie one is the one available next week if you want to use a Capri.

I had my first good race tonight :) Thanks for the last lap battle Dave real do or die into the last lap.

That was good fun but very hard work. I'd had quite an interesting scrap with Will16v earlier, the Vette being very fast but obviously really struggling for traction. Unfortunately I made a last minute change to the Healey just before qualifying started, and whilst I managed to get it setup comfortably, in the race is started cooking its tyres every time I started to defend a position. I looped it letting Will past and then let Whit through too on the last lap. The stupid thing is I thought I had one more lap to go, having forgotten that we were a lap down, and was expecting to retake the place using the Healey's greater straight line speed - then the chequered flag was out and I was gutted! ::) :'(

Managed to let LeH and Pero through together as they were obviously having a good scrap. After that I couldn't be so accomodating when being lapped 'cause I always seemed to be in a fight with somebody, but from what I saw all the lapping cars were being very careful and sensible when coming through us slowcoaches. :thumbup1:

The start was rather strange - my limiter seemed to be set faster than the Elan in front ??? and then when it looked like he actually went and I did too I was off like a rocket in comparison - had to back out quite dramatically to avoid going into T1 alongside. :o

This was my first race for Team GhostSpeed and it was very nice again.

Pero did really an awesome job in the Cobra. I thought I would make pole with my quali time, but Pero beat it close to session end, so I didn't have enough time for another try.

I didn't push too hard at the beginning of the race, since I thought the GT40 was superior anyways, but Pero was really fast with the Cobra, so I started to doubt if it really would be able to catch him. After about one third of the race, Pero didn't accelerate out of the first chicanes optimally, so I could use his slipstream and overtake him braking into Adelaide chicane. From then on I tried to find the right mixture between going easy, to not risk a stop & go or an accident, and keeping a distance to Pero, who still was pushing until the end, and was never further behind than about 5 seconds.

Later on I had some scary situations with some lappers, but could avoid a big accident. The touch from you, Pero, was no problem.

Good race.

Oh yea, and I also missed you, Ruskus !

I think it was a file change or something... I got it off the GTL RSC forum a while back. I didn't wanna screw up the career I was doing, so had to create another user just in case :)

Is there any way of changing my name of my driver, without creating a whole new user?

Is there any way of changing my name of my driver, without creating a whole new user?

If it works like rFactor (it probably does) you can just change the name of the directory within UserData and the name of the .PLR file inside that too. Worth a try but make a backup first!

The start was rather strange - my limiter seemed to be set faster than the Elan in front ??? and then when it looked like he actually went and I did too I was off like a rocket in comparison - had to back out quite dramatically to avoid going into T1 alongside. :o

That was me in Elan Dave, i was having problems with PC, it switched to desktop for a few seconds and done some dumbass autoplay crap (been getting it in Bf2 but never GTL/GTR until this race) and reverted back to game which coincided with the start of race and thats why i didnt react to start or wasnt up to your limiter speed beforehand. Happened once after the start causing me to crash  :(

Have changed set up in my disk drives and hopefully sorted it. Sorry to all behind me (not many cause i qualified 19th!) cause after i got going it left a big gap between me and cars behind.

Got to say for us at the back the grid, the warm up lap was an absolute nightmare, one minute were going flat out and next we almost stopped dead. Dont normally qualify at the rear (or the front lol) of the grid, so im not sure if this is down to a natural concertena affect or an erractic pace lap by cars ahead.

Does anyone know the forum name of Phil Kerins? Cant see his name in the member list

Cheers, Bri

That was me. It can be hard to judge the pace of the guy in front of you when the lap isn't being taken at a proper speed. I was in the same position as you, having to hurry to catch up and close the gap, then having to brake hard suddenly. Probably best to follow to the side of the guy in front rather than directly behind, especially on wide tracks.

With the limiter in use at the end there's no need to try and stay glued to the bumper of the car in front, because you know you'll have time to catch up at the end of the lap. If the gap grows ahead I just carry on warming stuff up and don't worry about it until near the end of the lap.

OSiriS; you can match driving names to forum IDs from a race by going to the appropriate results page and hovering your mouse cursor over the name you think it might be.

I was sorry to see you run wide a those few times, you kept the race interesting:) That car must have been a handful. I took the easy way out and went for the more predictable Elan.

It's a similar speed to the Healey - not as fast in a straight line but lighter and quicker in the bends. It is one of the slower GTC-65s but a lot quicker than the Elite! :D
