Sorry Signor Molteni and guys,
For sure an explosion at the start don't requires an apology.I have seen too late one Ferrari stopped in front of me,the Brab. of Phil have gived me the final touch... i was able to recover from a strange position but smoke from the engine have stopped my race.
Anyway  both we have to be optimistic, one race is not all the season.

Not well prepared for this race. I had things to do so joined praccy late. Took the Brabham which was not the best choice given the cost in tokens. Got a good start, tried to pick my way through the carnage at the front of the grid but clipped a car which put me in the wall and I damaged the suspension. The steering was out and the car was difficult to drive. Nevertheless I decided to press on but a couple of laps into the race we had visitors so I had to abandon the race. Sorry I wasn't able to keep you company for the rest of the race Billy, hopefully next time!

Yes another horror race here too, in the start desaster I came out last, and my car had a damage, but I could roll on
until I wanted too much in T1 and spun, taking Tris out, SORRY

Finaly my engine exploded just before Maison Blanche in the last lap...

I have reviewed my own replay :

Still on the starting grid, Ziu exploded his engine.

At the start, Tristan spun, his engine was on fire and he lost 2 wheels ... but, I never saw that before, he could continue and after 300 m his Ferrari retrieved engine and the 2 wheels  :o :o :o :o
Could someone explains me how it is possible without reset ?   Seems to be a miracle !!!  :D

Francesco, you took a good start but you can't avoid Ziu's car then, as you wrote you could recover ...but you were driving in the wrong direction !!!!!! Just after you engine burnt but if it was not the case, you would have been DQ ...

Phil, yes you took a very quick start but a dangerous one on my opinion !

Grats to the podium. I am very happy with my final 4th, the Honda was nice to drive. Grats to Paul V. for his serious and consistent drive which gave him the 5th position at the finish

This track does become a little boring once the faster cars had disappeared.
On the 10th lap my concentration wandered & I had a massive spin, rather luckily I did not hit anything solid but I had no idea where I was & ended up driving a couple of hundred yards in wrong direction. I continued for the rest of the lap with no obvious damage but Prib was telling me I had been DQ'd. I retired the car - but the results just say 'Disco'?
Well done to the survivors, especially Paul V who picked up some good points.

Picked the Loty at the very last moment cause it isn't too expensive and it's fast enough on the straight. I had to set my gears in Q so no time to do a fast lap drafting someone, but 9th on the grid after the Fezza was satisfying. Start was a nightmare nonetheless the track is very wide and had to stop to not hit Coockie sideways closing the way, luckily no damage and could get around safely.
For almost half race had a nice battle with Dave drafting each other on the straight till two Fezza catched us on s/f straight and Dave was slowed down by their crash at T1 that gave me the chance to not be drafted by Dave and later catched Bastian that had had some offs. We had a couple of thrilling laps drafting each other but on the last pass at the fast right bend I clipped grass outside and a big tree glued me  :'(

Finally, my first victory in LeMans
Starting from P 1 - thanks to Francescos slipstream - that was anything but a perfect lap - I had luck again because I escaped the horrible starting collision. It's hard to accept that bad, unsirious GPL damage model. Bastian was surprisingly quick at the beginning - great speed! :thumbup2:, more please -  what was your prob after lap 4? After my spin on the way to the virage indianapolis in front of Bastian, I was in P4 but lucky that my Ferrari was ok. So I could overtake Andreas, Clive and Bastian easily on the straight again after some laps and when I freed myself from the slipstream I made about 1 second per lap only on the straight. Wasn't my day today - no courage to go any risk.
SRY to all who had bad luck. If we survive T1 at Montjuich we ALL will have fun again - don‘t give up! Next time luck will be on your side  ;D

Grats to Uli and all finishers and a great run by Paul V in the BRM  :thumbup1:

I have just watched the replay of the start, it was not a pretty thing to watch!  :o.

Ziu was very unlucky to have his engine fail on the grid, but that is part of the GPL software which tries to reproduce the poor reliability of the 1967 cars. In my experience that type of failure hits me in 2 or 3 races in a short time span and then I have no problems for about a year?? Maybe it corrects my driving, or I am more aware of what revs I am using...I don't know.

Ziu's slow car forced those behind to all move across to the right hand side, which would have been OK as there is plenty of track available with the pit lane area available too. BUT! Tris also chose that moment to try and push more power through his rear tyres than the laws of (GPL) physics allow and speared his car across in front of the slowly moving Ziu. Again that would have been OK, leaving 80% of the track clear. Regrettably Tris's Ferrari decided to bounce back directly across the path of the cars now committed to the pit lane escape route.

I could see what was coming from my Honda and tried to predict where Tris would end up, but I got it wrong and could not stop in time to avoid a hard contact. I thought that at the very least my car would be damaged or dead and when someone else hit me from behind and launched me spinning into the night sky, I was ready to hit "ESC" and go and watch TV.
The Honda landed almost facing in the right direction so I tried a little gas and it moved...it also steered around some wreckage.. and accelerated in a straight line!!??
I held my breath at the first braking point expecting big problems, but nothing happened and the car felt fine??? I was very careful for the first 2 laps just to be sure that the car was working OK. If Ziu was unlucky, I had a miraculous escape !!!
When things settled down, Andreas was just in front in his trusty Cooper and I was amazed to catch a glimpse of Uli and Bastian in their Ferraris only a few seconds ahead  :o as I had no idea how many cars had been totalled  in the start line carnage. I could see the 3 podium places ahead of me, which was far better than I could have hoped.
I suspect that Bastian was battling with Uli and defending, which was slowing them both enough so that with some slipstreaming Andreas and myself could close the gap slightly. Then we came across Uli recovering from a spin and the game changed.
The Ferrari is really fast on that long straight and pulls maybe 10mph more than either the Cooper or the Honda ( even though the Honda has the biggest BHP?? ). So when Uli swept past us on the straight both Andreas and myself were able to get a huge tow...which was great as it dragged us towards Bastian...but I had to back off as my revs were going over 11K and the oil temp was climbing very fast towards the 235F danger zone!!
Bastian was reeled in, but by that time I think his engine was damaged and even when Uli had drawn clear up ahead he could not catch the Cooper and Honda.
By now it was clear that unless Uli had a problem the race was between Andreas and myself for the lower podium places and if neither made a mistake it would all be decided on the last lap. So I tried a few moves to see where I might make a last lap attack  The slipstream advantage of the car behind made things very difficult as passing too soon left the chance for a counter attack, but leave it too late and it might not be possible to squeeze past?
On the last lap I had decided that my move would come on the final run to the line, where I appeared to have just slightly better gearing and acceleration than Andreas.
As the saying goes "the best laid plans of mice and men...".
I was gearing myself up for my move as we exited Indianoplis and accelerated towards the Esses where I knew that I had to stay close. It was then that Andreas made his only big mistake in the race  :-\ and put a wheel on the grass. I had to take the opportunity to get past even though it meant that he could try the move that I had been planning in the race to the flag. :o :o :o
It was very close, 0.2 secs  after such a long race but the Honda had just enough grunt to hold on to 2nd place.
With so many Ferraris out of the race early I finished much higher than I had any right to expect, but the biggest surprise was that the Honda appeared undamaged after the start and was a joy to drive.
Commiserations to those whose race was over before it began and to those who suffered damage struggled. GPL is cruel at times.  :-\

Hi, much action again in this race.

i had a good start and saw same carnage to my left and was happy to keep to the right,
even i got a punch

I found myself with uli alone, and had a nice battle.
In Lap 4 Uli spun and i overbraked and went in the rails.
On the next straight i realised my engine had lost power (15km/h)
and i was sad to realize my race was over, it was only to get some points.

I tried to push hard in the slow sectors to win the time i lost on the straights.
That resulted in some mistakes, and i was facing a battle with fulvio.

I'm very sorry for the end of your race, but with my broken car i needed to take every slipstream to stay in touch.
maybe my manouver was a little bit late but imo you can't push through that corner on the outside line.
i tried to do so in similar situations many times as well (and often failed) , when i was even more crazy then today, but on battling with uli on lap 1-3 i also stepped back there.

i'll just hope the next race will see us both clean finish.

Just with two more laps i pushed to hard again trying to get away from dave and ended with 3 wheels.

Keep racin all
