Season 36 1967F1 – Round 1 –  Monaco - Juniors

Welcome to the opening race of Season 36 which will be a joint series between GPL Brazil and UKGPL. This post is for the Junior level drivers.

The Monaco Grand Prix has been run since 1929, and is widely considered to be one of the most important and prestigious automobile races in the world, alongside the Indianapolis 500 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans (informally known as the Triple Crown of Motorsport). The circuit has been called "an exceptional location of glamour and prestige." The race is held on a narrow course laid out in the streets of Monaco, with many elevation changes and tight corners as well as a tunnel, making it one of the most demanding tracks in Formula One. In spite of the relatively low average speeds, it is a dangerous place to race.
The first race in 1929 was won by William Grover-Williams driving a Bugatti. The event was part of the pre-Second World War European Championship and was included in the first Formula One World Championship in 1950. It was designated the European Grand Prix two times, 1955 and 1963, when this title was an honorary designation given each year to one grand prix race in Europe. Graham Hill was known as "Mr Monaco" due to his five Monaco wins in the 1960s.

Damage Model = Intermediate
Qualifying time = 30-45 minutes

The Juniors championship has Intermediate damage model. Every driver is permitted one reset. Each reset (irrespective of fault) must be followed by a Stop & Go in the pit lane within two laps of the incident. If a reset is required on the last lap a time penalty will be added. Failure to take a Stop & Go will result in a time penalty. Any driver taking a more than one Reset will be disqualified.

This season, races are to be run at 60 frames per second – please use the 60 fps patch

There is no Red Zone. Moderating will be on reported incidents only. Remember that lap 1 incidents carry an additional penalty place.

Congratulation!!

Clearly the story in the Junior race last night was the major ass-thumping delivered to those of us on the XY chromosome scale by the very, very rapid Ms. Thiel. That hasn't happened to me since 1999 when Alison Hine was at work on the tracks. Apart from the justifiable joy of our talented winner, the person most happy about the result might have been my wife.  :)

I had a very low-key race without a single incident or error on any lap. The configuration of the chicane in the original Papyrus version is so clearly wrong that it does seem strange to race here after spending time at the far superior (and much scarier) Monacane.

Good to be back for a new season with new friends, hopefully the fairly large grids will continue in both junior & senior events.

Qually was much better than expected; don't know where that lap came from! There was no hint of that time during practice & has shaved a bit off my rank as a result (although, I still have a lot of time available to lose).

Very happy with the race too.  Once the leaders had scampered away, I was left with my own race for a bit.  Couple of spins at the chicane to keep things interesting & then some close running with Phil/Andreas for a while.
Later on, Andreas graciously went wide to allow me past & Phil unfortunately dropped, so overall made up the places lost at the chicane.

Storming drives up ahead though!  Especially with pole/win/fastest lap. Congrats!

Just a thought - but is it a .zip file?

I *think* it has to be zipped to be accepted, but .7z for example is not accepted as the file extension doesn't match.

I have submitted the incident only for correctness but explaining that my car was visible only few seconds in your mirror at the start of the straight. So i think that there are no consequences :thumbup1:

I've read your report and looked at the replay, I can confirm you were dropped from the server at some point and so one of your laps wasn't registered. I've corrected the race result.

There was no need for you to go to the trouble of reporting this as an incident, just a post on this race thread would have been sufficient to bring it to the moderator's attention. We can fix this sort of error without moderation.
