Cripes that's a fast track! :o Best time so far 1:00.8 but I think the fastest drivers will be down into the 57s.

I managed a 1:08 with a bit of an off, but then I always tend to be slower with single seaters.  Not quite up to scratch with the lack of traction at the  back under acceleration.

I looked at something completely new - Istanbul, but I think it's a very hard circuit to learn in such a short space of time. Extremely challenging but too many blind corners. Montreal feels very fast and nicely done but I'm a bit concerned about FPS at Montreal. Loads of circuits to choose from.

Watkins nice short lap so maybe a bit more competitive.

Note added about taking a GBR skinned car if and only if you wish to be considered for an official ASRWC Team Great Britain (http://asrwc.simracing.org.uk/) spot.

Slight panic there at 1 minute lap times, then realised you were on NASCAR track when I've had a quick go on GP track. Got to say its pug ugly but the GP track is very quick, fun and real grippy. Hope the cut down version is just as good.

Has the race announcement changed from GP to Nascar variant? Sure it said GP before  :-\

Always been NASCAR version. All 3 are in the same package.

I'm obviously going mader then. Sure it was GP hence the practice server running GP and not NASCAR.

Not that anyone complained  :P

I must have missed you all, still good fun with the four of us :). Race was a bloody disaster again, I don't half get caught out by cold tyres, but top little battle with Don. The sparks flying around really get the adrenalin going  ;D.

I hope to practice more if further races are planned.

Enjoyable stuff again even with only 4.

Watkins NASCAR is very fast banked corners are something different, but not challenging enough in the long run. Will pick one with more corners next week.

Couldn't get anywhere near my PB in first event, then spun on cold tyres having snatched the lead from Shark into T1 thanks to a more generous spread of gear ratios.

Felt a bit better about my spin in race two though when SbG and Shark did the same in unison, handing me the lead. With Shark's setup I finally found some rhythm again and set a new PB of 60.5, but between the heat and the time I lost concentration for a moment and went off in the Esses, letting Shark by. After that I just never got it back together again and eventually retired after losing the front wing.

Was it just me or was that track built out of what felt like discrete slabs of concrete? The rev counter and my head were bobbing up and down up the hill and along the back straight into Speed Trap. It felt much too grippy too, unless The 90 (final turn) is much wider radius than it was in the GPL days.

I found it the opposite, could never find enough grip. Best I managed was a 62.2 :(

Sorry guys, I was going to join you but after about 5 laps of practice I was way too hot, even with the fan on it was deeply uncomfortable so I decided to wuss out :-[

So are we going to talk about turning this mod into a working championship? Would attendence be better if we did (and the weather was cooler :P)?

Wednesday nights are not good for me otherwise I might have tried to join. It's also been too hot recently to go near the gaming PC. I've already ditched the projector to keep the heat sources down. Think I might have to invest in one of those aircon thingies to keep me cooler in the race ;)

I race the rollbar view rather than cockpit as I just get motion sick with all the bouncing up and down and stuff racing cockpit views in any game. I do think the track is wider than the GPL version though. Perhaps it's more accurate than the GPL version, or it has changed.

Hee hee. Must admit it was ridiculous yesterday. I played tennis before hand in the sunshine and I had to stop after a while through heat exhaustion. Came home and raced rFactor in the heat. Temperature was 29 degrees in our hallway late on in the evening (and even this morning) so add 5 degrees for my study I reckon  :'(. I'm impressed with my PC though, it's on dynamic overclocking for the CPU and the graphics card is on overdrive and no problems with overheating for it so far.

I would like to, but we do need enough people.

We only had 13 in the GT Sprint this week. Suspect that's something to do with the heat too.

Unfortunately I am already committed to another GTL league on Wednesdays (the shame of it). In fact I raced there before I joined you last night so was already in a lather before we started. However, really like this mod and rf in general so will join you when I can. Don't think there is an alternative night? Maybe more room/bigger fields when sprints finish?

After last nights little battle with Don, I believe this one worth the effort  :)

Oh Gins you say the nicest things ;)
I enjoyed it every bit as well. Though I wonder in future how I might fair on some of the more technical circuits :-[

Monday night is also possible although it clashes with TPG Euro. With GTR2 delayed until the end of September we could squeeze a short season of ASRWC in on Tuesday nights I suppose.

As GTR2 will be 100% ready for prime-time league racing immediately on release that doesn't give us much time!  ;D

Sounds like a good option Dave. I think I'd probably take part on a Tuesday and I'd like to give rfactor a more extended run-out.

Suits me.

What about circuit choice? There are so many great circuits now.
We could do F1 circuits, or British circuits might be good or whatever really.

I quite like the idea of doing British circuits, although their not all 100% suitable for these fast single seaters.

Shark, if your a GRC member http://ccgi.motormania.plus.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=308 may be of use to you, maybe not in what-to-pick, but more importantly what-not-to-pick :)
