I’m away at the moment so can’t check but according to the 1975 track map, it’s this layout

They did the chicane in the 1977.

Yep, first year it was used.

Well, you're right guys, my source was incomplete. Need to re-think my setup now.. :-X

Didn't know it was this year and at this place that Mark Donohue got killed sadly.

Thanks to MJ and vva_avv for the pointers this evening, results much better, if not threatening for pole position just yet. Was not finding it pleasant early on...

must say when i watched you onboard briefly Les, after my setup suggestions that i was using, the car looked terrible to drive like it had too-sharp steering inputs to make it see-saw side to side  ??? Are you running correct steering rotation? to me it looked like the steering was way too sensitive. If i get a spare ten minutes this evening i'll take that car for a drive with my own setup for comparison.

Must say i do like this track for historics racing, always feels right  :)  mighty fast on the whole but with tricky technical corners in some parts.

I think my (T300RS) steering rotation is set to the maximum, but I'll check. Vva_avv ran a few laps in the March after you left and thought it felt similar to the Tyrell. I made a few more changes and did a 1:41 although still with wings at 7 7, race fuel and hard tyres

assume it should be set to 900degs rotation.  7-7 wing here is way too much, its a low downforce circuit really with the proviso of the tricky downhill cambered corners. With a light front and heavy rear you just dont need that much rear wing.

I'll give it another go at 6/5 and see how it goes, now that in general it seems more manageable. Early on, as soon as the back end stepped out, I was finding it impossible to correct, either to hold the slide, or stop it snapping  in the other direction

I should think about lower it down to 900° too. Does anyone know how much it actually was on those single seaters ?

Set 900° and the game will use the degrees necessary for the car in question.

Just for info, the F1s during '70 had around 450°-500°. Lotus 49 ('67) had 540°.

That's what I thought, set to the max in the thrustmaster control panel, then in content manager select the steering axis option to 'auto-adjust scale to match car's steering lock'. Assuming there's a config for the car itself... No idea where that might be

I usually keep set it to max : 1080° here. Note that I play with virtual steering wheel "on" and I quite dislike when I phisically turn my T500RS wheel 30° and the game shows, say 50° on the virtual wheel.. On a side note I'm probably one of the last AC users who don't use Content Manager. I'll need to try your tip Lesn and see if it keeps both wheels in accordance.

Superb race! Although I could not match my earlier practice laptimes I had enough laps under my belt to have a good race. From the start I managed to get past Fabri in his 312T only to let him by after i ran wide on full fuel load.

I could see the guys in front for most of the race, but after another small mistake I found a fast Maxime on my case for the last laps.
 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yB69EKONRa8 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yB69EKONRa8)

The car felt twitchy on low fuel so it was a matter of driving defensive lines for these laps.

Happy to see my teammate's name on P1 during the race and putting himself in runner-up spot in the championship.  :thumbup2:
Also solid points for the team championship. 8)

Bring on Monza!

Whoohoo! very happy with my first win of the series (and for ages!)    Felt i had a win on the cards all through the championship but relentless Tim never faltered  :surrender:

I knew i had decent pace here but practise and qually soon showed that so did at least 3-4 others.  Qualify was a proper qually session with 4 of us trading top times, at some points only a 100th separated 3 of us!  :o  Finally vva pipped us all and i slipped into 2nd place on the grid  :)

My race starts have been fairly decent in these cars so knew i had a chance to outdrag vva off the line and i had the right side for the fast sweeping turn 1. VVA kept his nose level almost up to the turn but thankfully slotted in behind me with Tim in close attendance. I honestly thought i would have the pair of them all over me for the rest of the race, but apart from vva staying within a couple of secs for the first few laps, i gradually pulled out a 12 sec lead at one point,  to eventually finish about 9 secs ahead of anyone.  :o  I actually had to coast on two of the straights as my fuel got lower,  as my 5th gear was one notch too low and i was worried about damaging the engine like at silverstone.

My car felt dialled in and i didnt put a wheel wrong for 45 mins so a contented feeling crossing the line for the win. Love this track for historics racing, one of the best  8)

Congrats also to vva and Fabri for the podium  :thumbup1:

Good race for me either. I didn't want to make nice spectacular crash ahead in fast T1 so raised a pedal to let MJ pass by. Next few laps i felt like i was able to keep pace with Mark and even started evil planning about him. But i was stupid enough to brake too late, slided out and had a nice long scratch with barrier to make aero yellow. Bye, 1st place ;D - FMG passed by.
Next was good fight with him. I managed to return to 2nd but my fast sections now weren't fast because of aero. So Tim was now faster and finally got behind my gearbox. After T1 i tried to get defensive position and even thought succeded. But second after i saw him attacking from right. Assuming there was little place for him i tried to avoid collision and turned left but it was useless in that place. He slided on grass, hit barriers brutally and went to pits. Mate sorry if i seemed to be too agressive, but i really didn't expect such furious attack :)
Now MJ was too far ahead. Fab was 3rd and started to get closer, but luckily for me race was over.
Very fast and demanding track!
Grats Mark and all finishers!
Glad for teammate Syd! Tyrrell power! ;)

It was once again a pathetic race for me while I had a pretty decent pace.

In qualif, I didn't want to spend a lot of energy so that as soon as I set a flying lap, I went to garage. Hold the pole for quite a bit of time with this 2nd run lap, but as the track was faster than in practice, I was pretty sure it wouldn't hold. Nice to see how we lap after lap were very very packed. At the last moment I thought I should try a full-flying lap with minimum fuel, trying to break the 1'35 wall but I actually hadn't the time to engage that last run..

Start went quite ok, but was forced to lift off a bit behind the front guys who were side by side : no room for me. Then while arriving at T2, I don't know exactly what I did, but 100% sure it was a poor, noobish fault, neglecting how much the brakes were cold. Ridiculous off. Then passed a couple of guys until I reached Oliver Olas. Man, really, please, you can't change your lane at the last moment when another driver is right behind you. Even if I didn't plan to attack in that slope before turn 3 for obvious safeness consideration, if I see your car move towards me, it's pretty scaring. Then in that T3, plz let a bit more room when you know another driver is inside, then in T5 we got this contact; I'm half on the grass in the inside and you still hit your rear left wheel against my car. I waited for you during the restart because I wasn't sure not to be 100% guilty, but watching the replay, I think I wasn't mostly guilty at all.

Much later I got a nice work to do trying to catch Postal who was fast, and I ended trying something T5 I couldn't assume without getting straight forward, my apologies mate for this stupid contact, I tried that mainly because I knew it was the last lap and none of us was threatened to lose any positions due to that, but it still was crappy.

Congrats to podium guys, particularly Vva who now got my 4th position at the championship, well deserved mate !
