Title: Coronavirus Cup Post by: Billy Nobrakes on March 26, 2020, 12:13:27 AM +0000 As many of us are now in lockdown we are going to run some fun races on non-race nights. Nothing better than GPL to alleviate boredom.
Can't promise something every night - please watch this thread for details. There will be a mix of mods & mainly tracks that we all know & love (or loathe). All drivers are welcome. Attend when you wish. Free choice of chassis but to keep things interesting the faster Pro's are requested not to use the fastest cars. To get things under way we are starting on Thursday 26th with 67 cars at Zandvoort. Race will be hosted from IGOR on UKGPL10. No password. 30 minutes qualifying starting at 21.00 UK time, followed by a 30 minute race.~ Unlimited Resets / no Stop & Go. Racing Etiquette - usual high standards please. Title: Re: Coronavirus Cup Post by: EvilClive on March 26, 2020, 08:46:22 AM +0000 Thanks for doing this Bill, I think that events like this will become more and more beneficial for our members as time goes on.
Members from across Europe ( especially Italy )who are already into their 3rd week of lockdown and are probably getting a little stir crazy, have already said that meeting other people, albeit virtually, is something that they look forward to. I even ran into Hristo Itchov in a UKGTL race last night ( he is still infuriatingly fast!!), so people are looking to simracing for some enjoyable distractions in these troubled times. PS. I will give some thought about the Joe Shaw Trophy series that is due quite soon. Unless anyone else has a cunning plan? Title: Re: Coronavirus Cup Post by: Josefine Thiel on March 26, 2020, 10:12:00 AM +0000 A great thing :)
Will be there tonight Will there be another server before, Billy? Title: Re: Coronavirus Cup Post by: Cookie on March 26, 2020, 12:47:34 PM +0000 Leon Forst aka Josefine Thiel
We are happy about every honest GPL driver and treat anybody with respect. But if a person kids us about a little girl that needs help and keeps me busy for hours and days, that is a darned cheek! You played this game in GeLi before and are well known there... If you declare here open and reliable who and what you are, we will think about it. Not happy Axel Title: Re: Coronavirus Cup Post by: Billy Nobrakes on March 26, 2020, 02:09:30 PM +0000 Just to clarify
Server = UKGPL10 IP = to be announced Race date = Thursday 26 March 2020 Time = starts no later than 21.00 UK time. Track = Zandvoort Race length = 20 Laps (approx.) Variant = 1967 60fps patch used = 60fpsV2newmod Damage Model = Intermediate Qualifying time = minimum 30 minutes Replay = here (https://www.sendspace.com/file/8pqhhw) Title: Re: Coronavirus Cup Post by: Billy Nobrakes on March 26, 2020, 07:26:42 PM +0000 We usually restrict 'chat' during races so as not to cause a distraction.
In the current circumstances with restrictions on social movement please feel free to use chat to catch up / encourage / abuse fellow drivers. I'm sure there is an option somewhere to turn off chat messages whilst on track if it causes anyone a problem. Title: Re: Coronavirus Cup Post by: EvilClive on March 26, 2020, 07:30:44 PM +0000 A great idea Bill ;D. There is no championship and no points, just racing for the hell of it.
The Coronavirus Cup is for fun and friendship, let's make it social and special !!! Title: Re: Coronavirus Cup Post by: dave curtis on March 26, 2020, 08:11:18 PM +0000 Practice server is up, although that track should be well known! Will set race distance at 19 laps... Title: Re: Coronavirus Cup Post by: EvilClive on March 26, 2020, 10:06:41 PM +0000 Thanks for organising Bill and the event was well attended for an ad hoc race.
WARNING!! I might try and use Phil's server to host a race tomorrow....I will do a dummy run first when Igor is quiet lol. Title: Re: Coronavirus Cup Post by: dave curtis on March 26, 2020, 10:27:57 PM +0000 Server replay available from: here (https://www.sendspace.com/file/8pqhhw)
Also added to event details page. Cheers all, Dave. Title: Re: Coronavirus Cup Post by: Billy Nobrakes on March 26, 2020, 10:38:47 PM +0000 RACE RESULTS (After 19 laps)

Clive - you are welcome to run something tomorrow. Might be easier to start a new post. I'll try & sort something for Saturday. Maybe a 65 mod event. Title: Re: Coronavirus Cup Post by: Piero Mercaldo on March 27, 2020, 04:28:08 PM +0000 Hi Billy,
since I am also stuck at home if you do a race 65 I would like to join you, are there problems? thanks and greetings to all ;) Piero Title: Re: Coronavirus Cup Post by: EvilClive on March 27, 2020, 09:44:21 PM +0000 We are planning a 65 mod race for Saturday evening. Everyone welcome.
Look on IGOR for UKGPL4 IP Address for direct connection and Teamspeak is: 77.102.28.179 Password: ISOFUN Brands Hatch 67 circuit 65 mod 30 laps Qualifying start 9:00 UK time ( the server might be available earlier for chatroom ;) ) Race start @ 9:30 Intermediate damage All Pro drivers ( you know who you are!! ) to use the Brabham BT7 or the Cooper only. Plus all Pro drivers must complete a SnG between laps 1- 10 and another between laps 20-30, just to slow them down a little ;) Am drivers have free choice of car. Unlimited Shift-R for all NO SnG for resets, so the only cars in the pits will be BT7's and Coopers. Because the isolation around Covid-19 might last for a few months we are going to try using TEAMSPEAK in the fun races, so that we can shout polite abuse at each other. If we can get things organised we will trial it in this race. Please keep your language moderate and avoid bad language. Remember that we are doing this to alleviate boredom and isolation AND most importantly we are playing a game, so don't get too angry about stuff?? These races are all about having some fun with friends. ;) Title: Re: Coronavirus Cup Post by: Billy Nobrakes on March 27, 2020, 10:19:36 PM +0000 I am planning to do the race. Where is the link for teamspeak? I don't have it. Also just worked out that we do not have a headset with a microphone. So I might just listen in.
Title: Re: Coronavirus Cup Post by: Phil Thornton on March 27, 2020, 10:53:28 PM +0000 I am planning to do the race. Where is the link for teamspeak? I don't have it. Also just worked out that we do not have a headset with a microphone. So I might just listen in. You can download the client for TeamSpeak for free from here (https://www.teamspeak.com/). The server is on UKGPL_4 so the IP Address for the Teamspeak server is the same as the race server. The password for Teamspeak will be the same as the race password. So when you start your Teamspeak client just type the IP address in the connect popup window along with the password and your Nickname.Title: Re: Coronavirus Cup Post by: Phil Thornton on March 28, 2020, 03:04:40 PM +0000 I've added some guidelines for using TeamSpeak on the UKGPL website. They are here (https://www.ukgpl.com/index.php/teamSpeak), a link is on the New Starters page (https://www.ukgpl.com/index.php/starter).
Title: Re: Coronavirus Cup Post by: Phil Thornton on March 28, 2020, 11:29:11 PM +0000 Race results:
Code: Track: Brands67 Sat Mar 28 22:23:49 2020 Title: Re: Coronavirus Cup Post by: francesco on March 29, 2020, 07:02:37 AM +0100 Strange phenomenon. At the start my steeringwheel turn in green, that mean for Xbox,so i was out of the track. After the correction it was without force feedback. The same thing happened at Spa with the 55 at lap 9.Inexplicably out of the track i was convinced to have lost a wheel, was impossible to turn.Only after to be out of the game i have understood to be with the green light.
Title: Re: Coronavirus Cup Post by: Phil Thornton on March 29, 2020, 09:52:19 AM +0100 What brand of wheel are you using Fran? Is it a Fanatec or a Thrustmaster? These are the only ones that I know of that are PS3/PS4/XboxOne/PC compatible. My Thrustmaster is for PS3/PS4/PC but not XboxOne.
Title: Re: Coronavirus Cup Post by: Phil Thornton on March 29, 2020, 10:05:56 AM +0100 Thrustmaster make T300 (http://mobile.thrustmaster.com/en_UK/products/t300-ferrari-integral-racing-wheel-alcantara-edition?destination=505/) for PS4/PC and the TX (http://mobile.thrustmaster.com/en_UK/products/tx-racing-wheel-servo-base?destination=1017/) for XBoxOne/PC. Is your wheel one of these?
Title: Re: Coronavirus Cup Post by: Phil Thornton on March 29, 2020, 10:19:07 AM +0100 I had a lot of trouble with my T300 until I found out that it only works in a USB 2.0 port but NOT a USB 3.0 port. Very odd. Is this something that might affect your setup?
Title: Re: Coronavirus Cup Post by: francesco on March 29, 2020, 12:24:22 PM +0100 Is a Fanatec,i wrote xbox but could be other. What is important is that is not set for PC.
Title: Re: Coronavirus Cup Post by: Phil Thornton on March 29, 2020, 12:45:36 PM +0100 I have no experience with Fanatec wheels so I can't help with them, sorry. However it would be worth checking that you are not connected to a USB 3.0 (https://images.app.goo.gl/tJ9ifqeGtqgwPGYw7) port or a USB hub. The dual platform wheels only seem to work properly when plugged into USB 2.0 ports.
Title: Re: Coronavirus Cup Post by: Leon Forst on March 29, 2020, 01:54:59 PM +0100 With the 67 cars comes brands Hatch again, as I saw on iGOR ?
Title: Re: Coronavirus Cup Post by: Phil Thornton on March 29, 2020, 03:06:54 PM +0100 We won't be racing the 67s at Brands this season. The 67F1 track list is here (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=17952).
Title: Re: Coronavirus Cup Post by: Rainier on March 29, 2020, 04:15:09 PM +0100 With the 67 cars comes brands Hatch again, as I saw on iGOR ? Racing at B.H. with the 66's on 7 April. Title: Re: Coronavirus Cup Post by: fpolicardi on March 31, 2020, 12:20:40 PM +0100 Can I ask to do a race at my track Vallelunga '71? The track hosted for many years F2 Euro and 6 hours World Champ race and it's well suited for 65, 69 or F2 races, but also GT.
You can find it at http://srmz.net/index.php?showtopic=3142 (http://srmz.net/index.php?showtopic=3142) Many thx :) Title: Re: Coronavirus Cup Post by: EvilClive on March 31, 2020, 12:32:41 PM +0100 ;) ;) No worries Fulvio, it was already on my list for future races!! Always a track which gives some great racing ;D
It almost made it onto the JSMT series, but with only four races to run it was a difficult choice and it did not make it :-\ Title: Re: Coronavirus Cup Post by: fpolicardi on March 31, 2020, 12:45:03 PM +0100 ;) ;) No worries Fulvio, it was already on my list for future races!! Always a track which gives some great racing ;D Thx Clive, you can find some info at this link cause the link on SRMZ post doesn't work: http://web.tiscali.it/fpolicardi/vallelunga.htm (http://web.tiscali.it/fpolicardi/vallelunga.htm)It almost made it onto the JSMT series, but with only four races to run it was a difficult choice and it did not make it :-\ And remember that is the clockwise version since 1970. Ciao Title: Re: Coronavirus Cup Post by: EvilClive on March 31, 2020, 02:59:50 PM +0100 GPL has raced on the anti clockwise Vallelunga track many times, so when GTL posted a race there recently I thought to myself " simples!! I know that track" .
But when I got onto the UKGTL server for the race they were driving in the clockwise direction!! lol :scared: :scared: It was like learning a whole new circuit :-\ |
