Endurance Championship - Season 3, Round 8b at Monza

This event replaces the abandoned race at Suzuka (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=1910.0).

Weather: Will be decided just before the race based on real-world weather.
Pit Stops: All drivers must make a minimum of one pit stop. This must involve entering the pit lane at the speed limit, and coming to a complete standstill in the designated pit box. I'm pretty sure I'm not going to be able to make this one, I'd planned on the season ending yesterday.

Yeah, I know it's not ideal. Rock, hard place, etc.

Yeah, I understand, I'm not complaining :)

I'm going to try my hardest to be there, there's no way I'm going to let Jonzo overtake me in the standings if humanly possible ;D

What a turn out  :o
Suzuka and backup lobby really don't go well with each other ;D

I wasn't able to attend Suzuka as I'm without internet at home since Friday. I'm without net signal so I called the phone line company and they told me they're updating the lines and chose middle of August to do it. Not bad timing at all unless it stopped me of being able to join last Sunday :(

I'm going on holidays tomorrow and only came back September 4th, so I wont be at Monza's finale.

If I get back from visiting parents in time and am not completely shattered then I'll be there, although I really hate Monza so really not enthused to turn up at all to race Monza for the 3rd time in quick succession.  :( I was hoping that was the last time I would load up GTR till GTR 2 came out tbh.

I was hoping to run at Brno, as Dave signed me up for reserve (Thanks  :thumbup1:) but whilst practicing as-well as learning how to drive with my new pedals(    new pedals) they failed and I couldn't race, similar thing happened heading towards Suzuka, I had a new board on its way which when it turned up it made no difference, so the practice and race itself went out of the window again.
Now I should be getting some new pots...........yes you can stop laughing now...........Ill be getting some new pots and HOPEFULLY I will be able to get some laps on the dam things without them braking.
So if it is still possible and nobody thinks it is unfair then I would like to race this event (3rd time lucky) Thankfully the championship has already been decided so I wouldn't mess things up too much.  :)

Ok, Monza, though...

The fact is, I'm a bit "overdriven" atm, which showed in TPG today (in Monza). I was very slow, prolly lack of motivation, or some such. Was faster in UKGTR NGT Sprint with the same setup...

I'll race here to properly finish the season and kiss GTR goodbye.  :)

Bring on GTR2!

End of season 'no-brainer' award goes to me....i loaded my Saleen race setup instead of the Porsche one somehow ::) :-[
Didnt notice until we picked up speed on the formation lap and as soon as i changed up a gear i lost control and span..>D'oh!! :clown:

Tried it for one lap but it was hopeless, the gear ratios were totally up the swannee

That'll teach me to come straight in from a bbq party and expect to race...dufus. :1eye: :stupid:

Hope you all had a good one.

Sigh, it happened again. A disco after a pitstop. Grrrrrrr >:(

Race was boring, but being in 2nd and getting a connection lost because of a router thingy, is quite upsetting. I hope this didn't cause Team Shark to lose the team champ

Well i was doing ok, till the missus came upstairs complaining that the bloody dvd player wasnt working, and asking me to sort it  :gun_bandana:
Inadvertently flew off after late/no breaking on the last corner (what is it called?). After hitting the tyre wall and seeing various Lister parts strewn around the gravel, i realised it was race over.
This was followed by intermittant swearing, and words like 'B & Q', 'Lock' & 'Door'  ::)

Leuven 1st, me 3rd and Rich DQ on last lap for taking chequered through pits or something, so by my reckoning if DQ means last place we have just won the Team Championship.

Anyone confirm?

My race - off the pace but switched to 550 as the Lambo seemed too slow and had managed some decent laps with the 550 in practice.
Was just hoping for the best and ill to happen to non Shark boys - although not expecting much not having raced for 4 weeks.

Enjoyed this season though and happy to have got some silver ware.

Thanks to all involved in organising and hope GTR2 sees some more people arrive on a Sunday.

Dunno if this is a brand new bug just in time for GTR2...

Came in to pit, had a one-stop strategy selected with tyres and fuel, and had a 1s pitstop... WTF? No fuel and no tyres :(

Had to come in again on the next lap for my 'proper' pitstop, by then I was miles behind Truetom and so I pretty much gave up and cruised the last 30-odd mins.

Well done to Sharky on his win and championship

And well done to us on the team championship!  ;D

On knife edge waiting for GT result after technical issues once again smited (smoted? smite?  ;D) Team Shark's GT drivers. Ruskus and pit stops just don't go together as he dropped out again at his pit stop (reall bummer, hopefully GTR 2 will be better for you) and was worried when Zacari didn't rejoin and Nick started last. Really gutted for you chaps if we lose the GT team championship after luck like that especially after your great show in Suzuka. Still whoever it is are deserved champions and it's going to be mighty close.

For me a complete turn up for the books. Had not raced since last Sunday with working so damned hard at work and just jumped into the Mosler to try and get my third straight endurance title. Lo and behold I manage to find some real pace at Monza and snatch pole from TT. 0.2 off my PB but the best pace I've had at Monza for some time I think about 0.2 ahead of TT on the grid who also had a nice time on the grid. Race under way and i was taking it pretty easy at the start just warming myself up for the slog ahead. Well no mistakes the entire race and a thirsty Mosler, with TT chasing me down near the end I felt pretty comfortable at the front as long as I didn't do anything stupid. Thankfully I held it all together to get a very very pleasing win at Monza and a nice way for me to end my GTR 1 Endurance career, the same way I started it...with a win. Wooooo haaaaa!

Good fight TT, you made me work for that pretty hard.

Well done to NGT Legends for another NGT team title. You are tough cookies in that category, we'll get you sooner or later though!  :P

No idea but he had gone down pit lane I believe and this caused a DQ - think he said something about a stop go penalty.

Yea stop and freakin go for cutting three times I think although I slowed down to not gain an advantage.. the white flag was flashing on MoTeC thought it was for last lap, but must have been stop go warning. Didn't get the initial call from pit for it but I did get the reminder!! .. agh well. ::)

Was fun trying to keep up with MC but my Logi brake pedal is terrible, too chunky in DX. Looks like i'll be buying G25 when they're out.

Thanks to everyone involved this season for another good endurance championship. It's a shame more don't race this series as I think it is the best one of the 3 GTR championships with some of the most enjoyable races going.

Special thanks to Maurice for moderating this season and doing an excellent job as well as Picnic for all the behind the scenes stuff with the server and Gizmo for all the clever admin work in the background that makes this whole thing tick over nicely.

GTR 2 HERE WE COME!

In real GTR , you can pit whenever "I think", but in SROUK you need to pitbefore last lap and after first flying lap,
However you had done your pit stop and was serving penalty when the race finished early so this is a tricky one.................

Don't see how that's a bug. The stop and go for cutting the track 3 times had not been taken when the race ended. That's a DQ. Unfortunate that it was the last lap that you got given the stop and go, but rules are rules.

Good time for me in Monza for a change. Managed 1.50.5xx in practice, not quite close to that in the quali, but enough for 2nd place on the grid.
Was doing ok until (soon) came onto marbles in Parabolica (spin  :( ). Came out 13th I think, had to chase and push my way past Pedro.  :scared:
Then I went after Popabawa, closing sloooooowly. When you went to pit I wanted to test my tyres and they were ok, was doing around 1.52 so I decided to pit a bit later than at half.

Came out 6 seconds after Shark and was chasaaaaiiiiiing him, after 30 minutes on the edge with NO mistakes  :o I was still nearly 4 seconds behind. Great pace for both of us!!!!!  8) Made 1.51.8 with a race setup - never before. It was a great duel even if we weren't bumper to bumper. Too bad the race didn't last longer.  :D
Well, too bad I made that spin.  :-\
Ehm, too bad I'm not naturaly blonde... ups  ;D

Good job to all and grats on NGT Champ win Legends!
Sorry, but I don't know who won in GT Championship.  :)

TT

If I have the dedi log I will make a lapchart in which you can see you cuts. Maybe that's you DQ, the marshalls were tired of showing the sign :P

Yea I must have crossed line before serving stop and go .. doh! I'll have to learn blue MoTeC from now on for sure.

Article 44 of the FIA GT regulations is relevant here:

Quote
44. The Stewards may impose any one of the following three penalties (in substitution or in addition to other available penalties) on any driver involved in an Incident.
a) A drive-through penalty. The driver must enter the pit lane and rejoin the race without stopping.
b) A 10-second time penalty. The driver must enter the pit lane, stop in the penalty zone for at least 10 seconds and then rejoin the race.
c) A drop of ten grid positions at the driver’s next race.
However, should either of the penalties under a) and b) above be imposed and notified in writing to the team representative during the last five laps, or after the end of the race, or, depending on the case for duration races, during the last 10 minutes, Article 45b) below shall not apply and an additional time penalty of 30 seconds shall be added to the elapsed
time of the car concerned.

Seems that somebody hasn't been keeping the a)s, b)s and last few laps get out clauses in line though! ::)

I wonder what would've happened had you not come into the pits. Probably still a DQ. We'll have to look at the results and make a decision based on the replay I suspect.

Nice race last night. Qualified 3rd, finished 2nd with only 2 spins in the race. NGT's were very courteous as always. Really unfortunate for Rich, no good way to end a championship.

Congrats to Rich for winning the GT drivers championship :thumbup1:.
Congrats to Team Shark for getting the GT title.
Congrats to Shark for winning the NGT drivers championship :thumbup1:.
Congrats to NGT Legends for getting the NGT title.

Well done Jamera :thumbup1: And of course all the other 28cd drivers who did a few races :thumbup1:

Can't believe this is last 'real' championship race with GTR. Well, like Shark said, GTR 2 here we come :jumpjoy:

I would like to thank all you guys who drove this championship and kept it clean. Made my job a lot easier.

Last but not least I would like to thank all the guys who made championship possible, Picnic, Dave, Shark and Paul and Aagramn for helping me make tricky decisions.

Well done to all the class and drivers championship winnners, thoroughly deserved  especially our own team NGT Legends who secured their 3rd consecutive Endurance NGT team championship ...huzzah for us !! :notworthy:

Big thanks to all the moderators and organisers once again, top work fellas, its been another great championship, and thanks to all the great competitors who i've had some brilliant races with, particularly Shark, Pops, Luis and TT up front. Trying to compete with you guys certainly raised my own game, nice one  8)

Apologies i didnt get to race you all to the final line last night after my totally noobie mistake of choosing the complete wrong car setup...felt such a div :-[ What a way to end it ::) I have had the offending Race engineer shot in the leg and transferred to team shark as punishment... ;D

Thanks Popa. I just wish I had my computer working the whole season. Three times NGT poles, then 1 fps bug and no points.  :'(
Doesn't really matter. I had more fun this season than with both the former ones. Feels good to be able to be in top 5, with a fair chance to go all the way up. Why didn't I do it in seasons 1&2 ? Shhh, I discovered the cars have DAMPERS!  :whistling:
