Title: Your favourite GTL tracks
Post by: Wiltshire Tony on May 12, 2020, 11:24:59 AM +0100
I would love to compile a list of driver's favourite tracks in GTL. It could form the basis of a future series.

If you can, could you list your favourite circuits. It might be a top 3, top 5, top 10 or just one.

Thank you  :thumbup1:

1. Interlagos (Every Layout)
2. Dijon (All Layouts)
3. Brno (Modern Layout)
4. Kyalami (Old)
5. Sugo
6. Aida (Modern)
7. Enna (Modern)
8. Istanbul Park (F1)
9. Bahrain (F1)
10. Abu Dhabi (F1)
11. Indianapolis (2006 F1)

And i want to see some night races aswell. And the most important think is the combination between car and track. You cant choose the Minis at Monza for example.

This would be an easy list to make if I could post mental images. Lacking that opportunity as well as a memory for names and years, I came up with this:

Targa Florio :D

Circuit de la Sarthe (must have Porsche curves, must NOT have Mulsanne chicanes)
Spa-Franchorchamps (version with bus stop on the left)
Nordschleife (also VLN)
Monaco

Nemuno Žiedas
Circuit du Mas du Clos
Laguna Seca
Zandvoort
Knockhill
Bridgehampton
Lime Rock Park
Watkins Glen (NO Inner Loop)
Willow Springs
Hidden Valley
österreichring (absolutely NOT the A1-Ring)
Oran Park Raceway

I think the KAD Mini's would be a blast at Monza

Back from the surgery and browsing through the forum, feeling a little sore but otherwise OK. Not sure when I will be behind the wheel again as I have to avoid exertion with my left arm, which might be a little difficult as I run FF quite high for realism. Maybe in a few days the bruising will subside ?
Interesting topic Tony, but as has been said I find it is not just the circuit, but the car/circuit combination that produces favourites. Most of my favourite tracks have already been listed. The only one I have not seen is Monaco older versions ( have just checked and I see that Dominick has already got that one  ;)). I quite like street circuits with saloons and older cars.

TBH Tony, I do enjoy discovering/learning new tracks as it keeps things fresh. If we always drove the same strips of tarmac it could get quite boring, but you do a fine job of varying the menu.  :thumbup1:

Good to have you back Clive, you missed nothing. You could always attend races just to spectate, up to you, no pressure  ;)
I'll list your only choice as Monaco otherwise in the final reckoning I will overlook it.

Guy's please add your choices even if someone else has the track listed. Remember I'm looking for duplicates etc.

Otherwise I won't be able to tally which are the most asked for.

British tracks

Anglesey
Brands Hatch GP
Cadwell
Croft
Goodwood

American tracks

Heartland Park
Laguna Seca
Road America
Road Atlanta
Sebring (prefer modern track to the old one)

Modern tracks

Silverstone 2011

Period tracks

Charade

Nordschleife
Solitude
Spa 60s
plus lots more!

A few others

Hilltop Club (fantasy)
Kyalami (new & old)

Tracks that don't have too long straights, in general, unless we drive them in very powerful cars.

Interesting, but not entirely relevant in this thread. Track names are what we desire here.

Could end up with a very long list so I'll try to keep it brief....

Been so long I can't remember all the names, but these stood out for me for a variety of reasons, either the track was interesting in it's own right or the racing there was always entertaining.

Donington
Brands Hatch GP
Watkins Glen
Spa
Portimao
Assen
Mugello
Rattlesnake Park
Hilltop
Moirana
Aragon
Zandvoort
Road America
Pace Park
Montreal
Albert Park
Silverstone

I will admit it's been so long since I was a regular that I've forgotten a lot of the places we raced at over the 12 odd years at NoGrip, so this list is by no means exhaustive. Had fun remembering though  :D

Special note for Dom, no Targa or Le Mans on my list, plus ca change mon ami..... ;D

I did say it had been a while......  :)

No problem Tony, happy to chip in in some small way.

There are more but I would need to go through my old replays directory that I kept, and I would have to find it first.....

Yeh, I have loads of tracks which I have car setups for that I just cannot remember. Probably only ever raced them once at NG or GC & have no idea if I liked them or loathed them just by the name. There were certainly some which I must have thought were brilliant.

One or two others that I can now remember or omitted before.

St Jovite
Virginia International Raceway
Birubi Southern Cross
Thermalito
Phillip Island
Eastern Creek
Autopolis

I once almost lapped you at Goodwood of all places. ;D

With very few exceptions, I'm terrible at remembering specific tracks, good or bad.  In general like flowing tracks with fast curves & elevation changes.  In general hate everything from Tilke  ;)

Some tracks I do remember and like (in no particular order):

Porto
Le Mans - with or without chicanes on Mulsanne
Nürburgring Nordschleife
Schottenring
Sachsenring
Targa Florio
Montjuich park
Imola
Donington Park (National) - like Matt, I hate the GP variant
Laguna Seca 1958-87
Kyalami '70
Spa '67 - if it's a crazy fast car...
Cadwell Park
Loch Rannoch
Monaco
Brno '65

I know, I just can't compile a list, as I don't remember the names of most of the tracks I've driven over the years. I don't want to list only the tracks I remember because it wouldn't be a honest list. Would have been easier if we had a list of tracks to choose from.  ;D

I'll list a few, but not 12, if that's OK:  :P

Nordschleife
Donington
Dijon
Cadwell
Oulton Park
Laguna Seca
Crystal Palace
Bridgehampton

My favourite tracks in no particular order. I think it’s a bit top heavy with UK tracks.  I am sure to have forgotten some:

Goodwood
2011Silverstone
2005 Brands Hatch
Donninngtonn Park (both)
Oulton Park
Mallory Park
Cadwell Park

There are a lot of tracks on other lists I have never tried so I look forward to trying some of them.
