Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see
cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules (https://www.simracing.org.uk/index.php?pid=7) especially the
rules about in-game chat messages.
(3) You will need to install Race Room Racing Experience from Steam, and have the Euro and American Track Packs for this series (And maybe another
non pack track occasionally)
(4) Please exercise caution when pitting as some tracks have a speed limit.

(5) Please follow the SROUK guidelines for using kerbs etc. Please keep 2 wheels on the track surface (kerbs do not count as track surface)
Excessive cutting of corners will seen as cheating and the results may be altered to reflect this.

Goodevening,

New player in town  ;D, and starting with SimRacing. I'm from Belgium and  downloaded 3 weeks ago Raceroom and got into simRacing due to the lockdown  :D.

Question should and can i inscribe me for this race?

Did for the moment now +/- 80/100 laps on Monza Junior track (Practice/quali/race against AI (lvl97)) and my average laptime is 56.1s (my fastest is 54.6s on the leaderboard). With the setup of Geoffers for Brands Hatch (only changed the gearing and brake biase)

Only problem is consistency for me (keeping the focus for 20min, and don't look at the view  ::) )! In a race if i drive alone (in the lead, or at the back) every 10min i make a stupid mistake and loose 5/10sec.

I can not remember my times at Monza Junior, but I will post here when I get some.
We have a few very fast people, and some slower ones (like me) You will fit in ok don't worry  ;D

We are running 3 series for Race Room at the moment. This Thursday it is Touring Classics + Porsche 964 at Dubai International

Thx

A little bit short notice, and currently only owning the free cars and tracks + only bought the european track pack.

Now only driving FRJ (not easy, but training driving skills), Silhoutte and Aquila (easy to drive (fun)).

So for now enough to learn these cars and tracks, maybe the next event. For the moment my first race will be the 4th of june FRJ Monza Junior.

Thx

Welcome BiriBiri, nice to an influx of new faces in town :)

Like phspok I'm one of the slower drivers and I make too many silly mistakes too but as long as we're respectful to each other the racing is great fun. The other day Matt and myself were so far behind in the race we kept waiting for each other when one of us fell off. Sadly I can't race at the moment but will return in a few weeks time and look forward to seeing you new guys there :)

P.S. If you're going to invest in RRE look at buying their tokens, you get a discount if you buy more. Then buy as much as you can in a sale to get a double discount. You only need to buy one car in a class if you're not wishing to race a different skin each week but the game still has the full content so you'll always see other drivers in the skin they selected.

Thx,

I know already bought the europe pack track (first buying the VRP online with a discount and then the pack purchase). Question for the cars, so if i buy only 1 livery of the WTCC..... i can ride in the WTCC class?

Still training for this thursday first race (now on AI lvl 99). Pitty there are almost now FRJ open lobbies to race. Question, are there any guys online this evening?

Third question  ;D ; I was previous thursday online on teamspeak during the Touring class race, but nobody was in there. Are you using teamspeak during the race's?

If it's a single car class, then any one livery is all you need.
If it's a multi car class - Touring Classics etc, then you pick any one car with any one livery to be able to race
I tend to buy one livery for all cars in a class so I can test them, but you don't need to.
You can test drive any car you like for free, but if you want to race it at all circuits you must buy at least one livery.

Not sure about teamspeak, we do use it, I don't, but some do. Pete (Picnic) will know more than I about it?

Hi just done a few laps at Monza Junior not as fast as BiriBiri but car good fun to drive, might join you for race (if that is okay), as finding other days getting more difficult to race, unlike others in lock down i have less time to praccy full time carer at home with two special needs girls, would be good for me if server can be changed to Monza Junior so test my connection and try car online.

Of course you can join Roger, in fact I may consider paying you to join  ::)
I will set the server now. Not important at the moment as I am around, but normally it's best not to join the race server
before 19:45 race night, as it sets the clock running. AT the moment I can restart the server, so no problem.
Password will be the usual practice password, which will be reset at 19:45 race night to the... errr... usual race password  ;D

Spanner and myself used to talk on TS when racing but since my attendance has been erratic and Spanner's gone off to play other stuff  ::) it was only me when I could race. As a result I stopped. When I'm back I'll certainly log back on and check to see if others are there.

I think the Italians use it, though we haven't heard from them this new season.
Not Spanner in particular, just curious, what "other stuff" have people gone off to play with?

OK thx, so for the moment TS is not used.

Thanks Phspok tried server late last night and worked fine.

I did yesterday also the check, and worked fine.

Only during single event with AI i notice i break much earlier than the AI in T1. Tried to break later but misses the corner than every time (is my setup than wrong, or is the AI not that real?)

I have never used the AI, so can't comment, but don't expect them to be perfectly human  :alien:

Just ran a few laps at Monza Jnr. Best was a lucky 53.7 with lots of mid 54 seconds
errr and a few investigations of the barriers at T1  ::)

I would expect Geoffers and Frex to be at least a second faster than that.
Hot lapping, and doing 20 mins and not falling off (twice, it's two races with 2nd race reverse grid)
is a different jeu de balle  :sweatdrop:

I brake just before the second large (orange?) marker board on the left, if that helps Birger.

thx, currently for me +/- 50mtr before the orange rail (second floodlight pole after the start/finish line). If the tires are warm I have little margin but every time i go little bit further i miss the corner (locking up). Tried to change the braking bias to the rear (but if i do it to much i have understeer and turn around in the corner (setting now 60/61 to 50/49.

Another problem is that i'm not able to trial brake in to T1 and Parobolica. Maybe setting problem or driver  ;D problem.  :P

Currently still happy with my progress fastest not improved a lot (54.1) But the pace is now high 54 / very low 55.

I can't trail brake much with these. All the weight is at the rear, they handle (to me) like old Porsches
I have to drive very carefully or I lose the back end.

you could try pushing the bias forward 1 or 2 clicks.
You can try my setup if you like? It is probably a little easier to drive than Geoffs, (read "slower") but may be more stable
I tend to lock the fronts, but if I push the bias back it gets wobbly on corner entry:

Sorry misunderstood your question ::). As Matt (phspok) said, moving brake bias forward should allow you to brake a little later. However more improvement in laptime will come by improving the way the car gets out of corners, braking later can often compromise your corner exit.

Well done all  ;D
I hope Biribiri enjoyed his 1st race with us  :thumbup1:

I had the brakes too far back, and took the nosecone off in race 1, which strangely made the back more loose
Liked the cool air in the heat of Monza  so much that I smashed it off in race 2 as well  ::)

Enjoyed that more than I expected, fell off too much, but always someone to race with  :fencing:

Off course.

Good setup, only 0.2sec slower (but more consistent lap times). Only problem was that only after 8/10min i had the temps (in only the outside tires). During quali lowerth the pressure (but was afraid to change too much).

First race fun, not that much fighting but was already happy not being lapped.

Second race, fun with the reversed grid. Didn't backed off in T1, but didn't fight too much to people who where faster in quali. Happy to stay in the group for 4/5 laps behind Markus. 1 little fight with you half way, but again if you are alongside me, i will brake a little bit earlier than normal, that i don't push people offtrack in my first race.

see ya

Good racing again with Markus and Geoff, but I kept getting distracted by the messages coming up at the s/f line and missing my braking for T1 (rubbish excuse I know..). Caused 2 spins, one in each race - the first one only lost me a few seconds and carried on fine; the second time I got stuck against the barrier and reversed onto the track into the path of another car, Pete I think. Unforgivable on my part, sorry Pete I thought I had more time, hope it didn't ruin your race.

Congrats Markus and Geoff, and welcome Birger.

Yes it was two very intense races. It was hard but fair (I hope). In the second race Geoff was too far away, if the race was two laps longer it would have been an interesting finish.
Grats to Geoff, Matt and Peter. Hello Birger, great driving!
Cu next thursday.

That went better than expected  :D I wasn't really quick enough to get a podium but lucked in on the first race when I came across a recovering Geoff. Was having to drive within myself as I was pretty tired last night and this showed by my total lack of reaction to coming across as stranded Dieter and just crashed in to him. I'm sure on a better day I could have improved the outcome for both of us. I was sorry to see you quit.

Quite enjoyed that, starting to like these cars although they can be frustrating at times.

Wasn't quite fast enough to stay with Markus & Frex in race 1, but caught up when they seemed to have a disagreement late in the race & got in between them. Once with Markus the slipstream kept me in touch until I overdid it into T1 & spun. Took an age to get going again so finished  4th.

This gave me a bit of an advantage on the reverse grid for race 2 & once I had got past Rog I made my escape before Frex & Markus got near the front. Once they did I was able to limit their gains to around a couple of tenths per lap until Frex disappeared. Markus still took time out of me nearly every lap but still had just enough in hand to take the win.

Congrats to Markus on his win & to Frex & Pete on the podiums.

Welcome to Birger, glad you enjoyed it, & good to see Rog put in an appearance.  :thumbup1:

Don't know if anyone else has this problem, but I seem to have issues with the race order & time gaps at the top of the screen. Most of the time last night it was only showing Pete repeatedly with just the occasional flash of everyone. Have noticed it the past 2-3 weeks, sometimes Ok, sometimes only showing one other driver & other times just me. Any ideas? It works ok when I am doing leaderboard challenges.

The times were there for everyone for me, but, they did change occasionally to show people 20 secs behind then suddenly 2 secs
and I mean other than when I was stuck in a barrier  ::) Perhaps your conn is dropping some info packets?

Geoff, are you using the standard position bar or one of the WebHUDs? I think a problem like this of corrupted or missing HUD elements can be caused by incorrectly installing a WebHUD app, or trying to revert back to the standard HUD without correctly uninstalling an app you were using previously.

Also check your Steam launch parameters.

No Frex, not ever installed any of the 3rd party apps, just using the standard HUD. It only seems to have happened since the last major update. It's no big deal because there is still the timing which comes up on the left when someone crosses the S/F line. Will check the Steam launch though.

Just can’t drive open wheel cars carefully enough to survive a race. Just kissed the Armco and wiped off my near side front wheel.  ::)  >:(  A touring or GT car would have rubbed off some paint and continued  racing!  8)  ;) Perhaps the next track will be more foregiving.

Hmm ok, I don't think it will be the launch parameters then if you have never used one of the Web HUDs. Maybe the last update introduced a bug, or maybe it altered one of your settings somewhere (that has certainly happened to me before).

Under Gameplay Settings/HUD Settings what do you have "Position bar relative" set to? Mine is Off.

Thanks Matt will have a look at it!

I used a lot Geoffers setup from Brands Hatch (still aggresive). But at race day i received (page 2) a setup from phspok (at the first moment not that fast, but a lot more stable). During the race i broke my lap record.
Race 1: some minor slips but recovered only 1 not in Parabolica
Race 2: some minor slips but revoverd and after my personal lap record i lost my focus, and didn't know, if i already past 2 or 3 floodlights. Appareantly i missed my breaking point  ;D

In T2 (right turn towards the second straight), i get a lot of incidents for no reason?

grts

I find I can't go fast without confidence, and have tried many Alien's  :alien:  setups over the years, most are usually
potentially faster than my own, but I am unable to get the best out of them, So I am often faster with
a slower setup because I can drive it to the limit easier. Some would doubt Geoff as being an Alien, but I am sure
he has been probed in the past... :w00t:

Don't worry about the "incidents" it's something they introduced recently, and our server is set to ignore them.

You really need to purchase a Merc C "Klasse" for Thursday Birger :thumbup1: It is a very different drive than the FJnr
