Post by: Billy Nobrakes on July 03, 2020, 10:10:18 PM +0100
Season 37 MIXED OPEN WHEEL – Round 1 –  Tucuman - 65 Mod

Welcome to the opening round of Season 37 & the first Mixed open wheel series in which we will be using cars from 1965, 1966, 1967 (F2) & the newly released 1968 mod. Drivers entering this series must select a manufacturer group & keep to that group for the whole season. Where more than one  chassis is allocated to the group you can select any car. Pro / Works standard drivers cannot use Group 8 or Group 9.

Round 1 will use the 1965 mod at San Miguel de Tucumán. The circuit is in a public park in the centre of the city. It has fallen into disrepair but it is still possible to drive around the circuit but not at racing speeds. It is a public road and has been decorated with numerous sleeping policemen.

Should the mod be 67F2? for this race?  I don't think we are using the 67 mod in this series??  ???

OOPs! just read the text more closely and it does say 1965, but the listing shows 67?  ;)

Ahh - The hidden dangers of 'cut & paste'. I think the main post is now updated. At Tucuman we will use the 1965 mod.

I noticed the error and fixed it when I updated the server. The cut and paste problem is always more acute for the first race of the season.

Car allocation table has been updated.

If anyone wants to make a 'transfer deadline day' move to a different team, let me know.

phew. Strange race.

I had some setup issues when i joined. but too late to leave server to try and sort problem.

so did my best to get in a few practice laps to try and dial in the setup.  it was basically the setup i had practiced with, but all the gear ratios had changed.

not sure why.. never happened before. anyway I shortened all the gear ratios by about 7 clicks in setup and took top gear to 4.3:1 or thereabouts..
would have thought that was enough. but not.

I had a 1st gear that readlined at 110mph, 2nd gear at 135mph and was maxing out along the main straight and still unable to get near the redline.

so drove the race with 3 gears and no real throttle control. car had no drive out of the corners.

strangest and most difficult race I think ive ever driven.

Im really sorry for tapping the rear of a car that was involved in the 2nd or 3rd lap accident.  all seemed clear for me to pass, so i slowed down to pass the incident but a car came back from the grass at 90 degrees to the track and I just clipped you. sorry. I hope i didnt ruin yours or anyone elses race.

some good laps and some good racing again from my usual rear gunner position at the back of the bunch.

Paul V.

Freeze for me in lap 2, but in my case it has nothing to do with the track or the server.

I've been having some bad issues on my machine in the last few weeks. My computer freeezes completely after a few minutes working. Sometimes, when I'm lucky, it works for a few hours, like last Sunday, when I was able to complete the Grand Prix race.

I tried a few things in the configs (I have a Win 10). Now I've just cleaned the PC a little bit to see if it helps. But, unfortunately, I think the problem might be a little worse than just some cleaning.

Hope my freeze didn't take anyone out of the race, because I could still hear my car working for a few second after my image stopped. As an instinct, I put my car off the track on the right side.

Congrats Tristan for the win, the podum guys and all finishers. This series will be a fun one, with so many different mods and cars!

That was a very close race at the front until Ziu's engine packed in on lap 30. Very unlucky, I hope it isn't the engine problems starting again. It looks like you are having more engine trouble than normal  ???

Paul I think you had default setup that are the same of 67 setups cause 65 mod hasn't default setup suited for it and 67 one have loooong gears for these little beast,
My race in the Cooper was solid at the back, but a wide tryng to let by Andreas made me loose 9 sec. and the position on David Lotus.
Soon after I was lapped by the two leaders battling close, I saw them crash in last turn but only one car restarted  :(

I think Ziu's engine gave up on the exit of the last corner and Tris was so close (I assume because he was trying to stay close to get the draft down the straight) he couldn't avoid Ziu when he unexpectedly slowed. Both drivers were incredibly quick, it would have taken a mistake or a mechanical failure to separate them.

You right Phil ;) ....it's exactly what's append  !... I was lucky to continu the race... I take a bad start and Ziu a good one , so I try to press as possible I was nearly hit Ziu some time :(  it was so close ! ... it was a good fight , very difficult to over pass specialy when all the doors are closed !...the straight line is too short for the slipstream so no possible for me to pass at T1.... more , I was loosing around 20-30 m in the straight !...??? ( is it kérosen in your tank Ziu ??  or maybe you ask too mutch to your engine !)....
Thx all and Org. , ....cu in 1966 ;)

ps :....I think the FL  is for me ( see GPLRA )....;)

Yes very sad you could not join, you missed a great race action.

Please do test our UKGPL_4-11  server before the races,
we let them run for you, so that those last minute catastrophes should not happen.

Especially when you do race in other leagues with 36fps - make shure you set the right 60fps patch in GEM+ before you run iGOR out of GEM+

Good morning all

As stated last night, freeze at the 29th lap while I was following thanks to the Uli aspiration, I could not have doubled but when I see that he finished 3rd, I may have been able to finish 4th instead of 'have a freeze.
Bad start to the season for me.

Well done Tristan, Cookie and Uli.

Thanks for the organization

Sure this setting are not right for all PC, I always used 60FPSv1 for 65 mod (like for this race), 60FPSv2 doesen't work because impossible to click on the green button
the v2newmod works with no problem apparently, but I not use this
Tried yesterday your server Cookie and with 60fpsv1 works fine
Anyway if happen in the future I will try all options, thanks for reply

"the v2newmod works with no problem apparently, but I not use this"

@All
We use the 60fpsV2newmod for all mods!

Why?

The 60fpsV2 newmod was the last and universal Patch Petteri released

- it has no long tracks problem
- it prevents a server from being joined by 36 fps clients
- it works with all GPL mods (exept the 69X)

You could join via IP with V1 because brr did not close this door, but in the future I will not allow joining via IP in iGOR.
Of course you are free to use whatever you want offline, but UKGPL is an online league.

PS

Believe me,
we do it because we want to have FUN for all driver,
we do not want to interrupt races because an 36fps or wrong patch using client destroys a whole race,
we have good experiences but are willing to learn new things,
if anybody has problems we allways try to help.

But we decide how we want you to join our servers - based on some years of expertise gained by hosting hunderds of races.

Ouch!
Ok sorry for this, never used before because I read that 65mod works fine with v1 because is a old mod, so I never change the setting and so here I was not preoccupation, in other servers in the past I run with 65 mod and V1
I use Newmod for all other mod, from today with F1_65 also   ;D

Thanks for explain, maybe this drawback will be usefull for anyone  :)
