Season 37 F1 Full Grand Prix – Round 4 –  Nassau



This season we are experimenting with some Grand Prix length races which we estimate should take 90 mins to complete.
This change to our normal format has required some changes to our rules and etiquette, so please read everything carefully to ensure that you understand.

PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY AND BE SURE THAT YOU UNDERSTAND.
QUALIFYING
During qualifying drivers are expected to drive back to the pits after each qualifying run. It is not permissible to return to the pits using the "Esc" key. If a driver crashes his car in qualifying and cannot return to the pits safely under his own power, he must not participate in the remaining qualifying period. The driver will allocated the grid slot achieved at that point.
REFUELLING
On some tracks it may not be possible to complete the full race distance on one tank of fuel. To avoid having to drive conservatively in order to save fuel, it is recommended that drivers make use of the Pit Stop patch which allows refuelling. Details are on the UKGPL web site on the Game page under the rules section.

We are using Lee Bowden's pit stop patch V 1.0 available here

This patch allows cars to refuel in the pits to the same level as when they started the race and does NOT allow for tyres to be changed.
 You do not have to make a pitstop and may choose to run the whole race by filling your tanks from the start.

This allows drivers to speak to each other if they wish, IT IS NOT COMPULSORY.

Important!!!
RED FLAG RESTARTS
We hope that drivers will be cautious on Lap 1 and avoid any moves that might cause a crash.
However, because this is racing there might be an occasion where several cars are eliminated, or badly damaged, by an incident on lap 1 and we could be left with 4 cars that have a lonely 90 minute race ahead of them.
If the moderator decides that any such incident on Lap 1, has removed too many cars from the race, he is able to order a RESTART, and he will announce this on Teamspeak and then through GPL CHAT.
The server will be shut down and restarted. There will then be a SINGLE lap qualifying session to determine the grid placings. Drivers will be allowed a single outlap followed by ONE flying lap to set a grid time. After completing your flying lap please pull off the track and ESC to pits to keep the track clear.
A Restart will only be called ONCE for each race and will only apply to Lap 1 incidents. If there is a multi car incident on Lap 2 then tough luck!! These are long races and a certain amount of caution should be used.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

The intention is to promote close racing for the duration of the race and is based upon driver's previous performances within UKGPL.
The car allocation will be reviewed mid season and may be changed at the moderator's discretion.

They will be introducing handicap pitstops next.......oh!!! but they tried that at Monza on Sunday.  ::)

I'd  loved to have seen Hamilton's face if he'd been asked to stop for 90 seconds!

Short race on this track first due to an error in the first corner (too large), which put me in the queue of the pack. Then my engine blew  >:(

This might be due to my error. Hard to tell but often after this type of mistake the engine is having issues.
 

Same here, had an early spin and engine lost more and more power...

    It was very complicated. In the qualy I got on the track and started to flash, I was in doubt if it was with 60fps correct, I stopped the car and left the server. But I forgot to return to boxing  :oops:, when I returned I did 3 or 4 laps and remembered the mistake of returning to the pits. So I warned the people that
    I was going to stand by the side to let everyone pass. But Rainier guessed that this could be dangerous  :nono: and I accepted the suggestion  :angel-wings:. So at the start I followed the next driver to the opposite straight and touched Cooper safely on the left side with half the car out and let everyone pass, because of the mistake in qualy.
     Returning to the race, I did a strong test, abusing my loyal Cooper who was great at the entrances and exits of corners, Cooper loves to turn them 90º, he is the best at this  :fencing:, and we were quick enough to make up for lost time, in the end some mistakes from Farina still presented me for 2nd place in the race.
      But anyway, no one would be able to hold Uli  :alien:, congratulations winner  !!!!

Congratulations to you Jonny, Enrique and all finishers,
in the end winning here was not as easy as it looked. I was surprised that my Honda setup was so competitive here - I am still learning . . . :)
I was a bit disappointed about my practice time (no 23s) but surprisingly second place :o
When Enrique went off the track, lap 3, T2, I was able to take the lead. For a very long time the distance between us remained constant, so I had to drive very concentrated with managing fuel and temperatures.
It's nice to be able to drive such a long distance race. THX admins for having that great idea of racing a nearly “Half Grand Prix“ – like it very much ;D
