Season 37 - SC67 - Alfa vs Porsche Cup – Round 5 - Nürburgring

Round 5 we will be at the Nürburgring-Nordschleife in Germany.  It has enjoyed a reputation as a terrifying and merciless route through the Eifel forest. An English journalist who visited the Nordschleife during the opening race on 18 June 1927 concluded “that it seemed as if a reeling, drunken giant had been sent out to determine the route”. The Formula 1 driver Jackie Stewart – a three-time world champion in 1969, 1971 and 1973 – was so impressed by the circuit that he gave it the name it will probably never lose: the Green Hell (Grüne Hölle). Racing and winning on the Nordschleife has always been very special for racing drivers, because the track is one of the most demanding in the world. Tricky corners, treacherous crests, steep inclines and gradients and constantly changing road surfaces demand great skill from the drivers and provides the cars with a very hard test.
The track where I saw my first F1 and 1000km race in 1968/9  ;D

Please check the Season 37 details (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=1102&theme=6) regarding rules and the Alfa vs Porsche Cup pages (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=1122&theme=6) in particular.

Handicapping
"Works" drivers will carry extra weight in form of 10 gallons of fuel (to remain in the tank after the race).
Drivers are expected to behave in a fair and gentlemanly fashion and declare how much fuel they have left after the race.

In order to ensure there will be 10 gallons of fuel left after the race, the minimum race fuel load for Works is expected to be:
  • Alfa T33 = 23 gallons (87 litres)
  • Porsche = 24 gallons (91 litres)

Two resets will be allowed (there is no need to carry out a Stop and Go in the pit lane if you make a Shift-R).
Drivers are reminded that Lap 1 incidents carry an extra 1 place penalty.
Only reported incidents will be moderated.

Sounds like a challenge.

Just so I understand the timing. Open practice with a 3 x lap race which starts at 20.45 (UK time). Or qualifying starts at 20.45?

Got a horrible flickering screen on Lap 1 which resulted in several trips into the vegetation. I think its linked to the rasterisers so hopefully using Open GL2 will give a longer run on Friday & go sub 9.00.

Fulvio big sorry for the Chat but I have to tell some basic info if asked. I try to minimize

There are solutions to avoid those lags! in gplshift.ini

Code:
[ GPL DISPLAY ]----------------------------------------------------------------
Set_FPS_Display_On = 0      ;OPTIONS:             0    1               ;EFFECT:
                            ;1 = Show FPS display (emulate "ALT F" keys)
                            ;--------------------------------------------------
[ GPL Font ]-------------------------------------------------------------------
Auto_Set_GPL_Font_Size = 0

The last zero is the point

I nearly didn't make this race. I let the NVidia app update my drivers just before the race. Big mistake. When I joined the server and tried to start a lap the full screen was completely blank. Tried it a couple of times, rebooted the machine, no luck. So I had to work out how to manually install an earlier driver. Did that and fixed the problem. Joined the server with enough time to do a couple of laps. First one wasn't very good and I unfortunately crashed on the second so had to settle for 9th on the grid.

A bit of a messy start and a couple of stupid mistakes on lap 1 (which I will put down to the NVidia issue, the glass of wine with dinner had nothing to do with it  :angel:) cost me some time that I couldn't recover from. Had a good "Timed" battle with Enrique, Doni, Evil and Fulvio. We were not dicing for places much but the time difference on Pribluda was pressure enough.

Grats to Yannick on the win and to David for top privateer.

Thx Axel, but I can't use gplshift no more cause my LG27 shifter faults 5th and 6th so i have to use paddles and if I set no shifter Pribluda doesn't work. Anyway I had already set little font but with no letterbox patch it causes a little lag for every message. Maybe I forgot to disable chat incar for GT player.
