Title: Re: RRE Season 7 (2020) RRE GT4 - Ningbo - Oct 18 Post by: Glenn Richardson on October 19, 2020, 08:12:38 AM +0100 Ningbo has never been my favourite circuit as I don't think it flows but the BMW seemed to have a big advantage here if you can control tyre temperature. After 4 laps in practice I'd overheated the tyres so badly I couldn't keep the car pointing in the right direction, the setup menu showed my front right at 118°c and the front left and rear right weren't far behind.
Frex and Geoff seemed to run into troubles early on so I set one fastest lap and then looked after tyre temps. I was able to maintain a safe gap and three tyres went into yellow on the wear indicator on the last lap. Well done Frex and Geoff on strong recoveries and unlucky Mark, presumably short fueled? Title: Re: RRE Season 7 (2020) RRE GT4 - Ningbo - Oct 18 Post by: Geoffers on October 19, 2020, 12:16:06 PM +0100 Agree with Glenn, no flow to this track, too many slow corners. The BMW seemed better suited to this track, it got off the slow corners better than the Lotus, which did not really have suitable gearing, several of the corners were too slow for 3rd gear & a little too fast for 2nd. Most I opted to take in 3rd to keep up the corner speed with the downside that it affected the acceleration off the corner.
Anyhow I messed up my race by running off track through the double right (T7/8) & got the tyres dirty with the consequence that I then spun the car exiting the following hairpin. Then compounded that by not being able to get the car facing the right way to carry on, every time I tried to spin the car around the right way the dirty tyres just allowed it to keep on turning & facing the wrong way again ::). Eventually worked my way up to 3rd at the finish but not without another spin at T3 near the end when I took too much kerb. The Evora does not seem to like kerbs too much. Congrats to Glenn & Frex.  Title: Re: RRE Season 7 (2020) RRE GT4 - Ningbo - Oct 18 Post by: spanner on October 19, 2020, 10:26:00 PM +0100 Took a while to find a line around here, sure it wasnt the right line!
Ermmm I ran out of fuel. Was a bit confused as i coasted to a stop, how I misjudged it. 10mins later I realised my brain defaulted to inputting 20mins into the calculator Title: Re: RRE Season 7 (2020) RRE GT4 - Ningbo - Oct 18 Post by: SRW on October 20, 2020, 01:08:07 PM +0100 I must agree the BMW/Ningbo combination didn't feel to good! . I think the Silhouettes would have gone well round this track. Managed to get a solid 0.75 hours of praccy on the night which was a luxury for me, but was way off the pace so just concentrated on getting more experience in the car. I managed to get faster in the slow twisty bits as the race went on.

However, didn't really know it well enough by racetime to take full advantage, and a spin at the last corner early on didn't help. Got back to P2 by the end, and wouldn't have bettered that anyway, so all good. Congrats Glenn, and Geoff in P3.
