Post by: SRW on November 13, 2020, 08:42:06 PM +0000
Practice: 20:00 (30 mins)
Qual: 20:30 (15 mins)
Race: 20:45 (30mins)

Cars allowed: GT4

Time of Day Setting: 13:00
Weather: Dry

Start: Rolling start
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal
Pit-stops: none required

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see
cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules especially the
rules about in-game chat messages.
(3) You will need to install Race Room Racing Experience from Steam, and have the relevant Track Packs for this series
(4) Please exercise caution when pitting as some tracks have a speed limit.
(5) Please follow the SROUK guidelines for using kerbs etc. Please keep 2 wheels on the track surface (kerbs do not count as track surface)
Excessive cutting of corners will seen as cheating and the results may be altered to reflect this.
(6) Start procedure
*It will be the pole sitter's responsibility to complete the first lap at a pace that allows the rest of the grid to follow comfortably
*There should be no overtaking or hard accelerating/braking
*Drivers should avoid getting too far behind or too close to the driver in front
*Approximately 20 seconds before crossing the start line the pole sitter should slow down to a speed of no more than 50mph (80km/h)
*Each following driver shall close up directly behind the driver in front also maintaining a speed of no more than 50mph (80km/h)
*The pole sitter should maintain that speed until they cross the start line and then accelerate away to start the race (lap2)
*Each following driver should only accelerate when the driver directly ahead does (they do not have to wait until crossing the start line)
*No overtaking is allowed before crossing the start line at the completion of the formation lap

Not sure what Glenn was doing on the righthand side of the track down the back straight, I thought I'd braked about my normal place but carrying more speed into the corner than Glenn and hit the back of him, sorry for that. The resultant wait for him seem to throw everyone out but resulted in ending up at the back and having to fight through everyone.

Been a while since I drove this track, forgot how much I enjoy it, though felt easier in GTR2!

Apologies Mark, I wasn't sure if you were within striking distance or not and made a half hearted attempt to defend into the hairpin compromising my entry. I didn't expect you to wait but am glad you recovered to the podium.

After that it was a similar race to Shanghai, the BMW had a slight edge in pace providing I didn't overheat the tyres but ultimately the accidental double downshift struck again causing a half spin. Geoff seemed to have early dramas as well but had good pace and was able to take advantage for the win.

Well done Geoff and Mark.

I do find the gears badly spaced in the BMW and the downshift prevention meant some corners I could only get into second on the apex.

Curious race.  :)

Qually did not go well, spun on my first lap then got invalid laps on the other 3 so had to start at the back. Lap 1, got a good run at the start & passed Bill & Stephen then at the hairpin there appeared to be some kerfuffle & I was in the lead, but everyone appeared to have slowed down. Not wanting to take advantage I slowed too & let everyone back through. A lap or so later I had made it back up to 3rd behind Glenn & Frex, another couple of laps & I inherited 2nd when Frex had a spin. Tried hard but Glenn was gradually increasing his lead & with about 4 laps to go I admitted defeat & eased the pace to avoid any late mistakes. Really surprised on the penultimate lap to find Glenn having had a spin & I was in the lead again. Just had to keep it tidy over the last lap & a half.

Bad luck to Frex & Glenn :(, however congrats to Glenn and Mark on the podium.
