I tried track offline and on server UKGPL, just few laps with no problems at all
maybe the problem is full grid?
Tomorrow I am in for test

The purpose of the test was to check the stability of the track and in my case I had no problems at all. I used to get CTD at Woodcote but I had no problems this time. I pushed very hard (too hard for a proper race) to check the patch because I found that the CTD used to happen for me when I went wide at Woodcote. I did it lots of times in this race and had no graphics problems.

I think David Rainier didn't have the patch installed and he didn't CTD either so I'm not sure if we have conclusively proved anything with this test.

However, on the strength of this test I think it is probably worth giving this track another go for a league race. Does anyone agree?

No probs for me either as far as CTD's or graphics are concerned. But I think many drivers were more interested in swapping paint samples lol.

I think that we should try this circuit again as Goodwood always gives good racing. Maybe with Xmas coming soon, we can give it a hammering with some fun races??

Yes, with the patch no problems here in some sessions, so let's give it a go.

I confirm, I didn't install the patch.
No CTD, no freeze but low fps on the second part of the track : around 40 fps and even 30 fps on the chicane before the starting line.

No frame rate issues for me, a solid 60fps. So perhaps the shorter draw distances in the patch help with the frame rate too?

I give Ginetto a positive feedback so he will release the patch soon.

The patch reduces the drawing distances so it may help with the low fps problem.

Look at SRMZ for it.

Next Racepost will be with the patch I suppose ;)

The Mixed Open Wheel race is scheduled for Goodwood next week.

I wasn't sure how many drivers were going to attend. I deliberately didn't use the patch to even up the number of drivers using / not using the patch.

No problems with CTD or frame rates & I span off at Woodcote on a couple of occasions.

The only drivers not to complete race distance were Cookie & Evil - neither of whom haver reported problems.

On that basis I propose we use Goodwood next week. I can a link to the patch in the race post - ideal if Ginetto can post of SRMX in the next few days. (And thanks for creating such a brilliant track!)

Hopefully some of the overtaking will be a little less gung-ho next Tuesday.

Looked good here. A real baptism of fire for my new wheel.  Cornering side by side with Fulvio and Dave on the first 2 laps. Brave lads!  Apology to Billy for the smoke screen.  Congrats. to Andreas the 4th in the faster, lightweght Ferrari.  ;)

Ten years ago, Tommie made the F2 Ferrari model, but it was not finished.  Ten years later, the small block Chevy can now be replaced by a smaller Tasman motor.

I hope we can test Montjuich 69 as it's a championship track, and may cause problems.  Slightly more accurate layout, so it's a new track, to replace the original.

No problems either here without patch and solid 60 fps all along. Nice battle with a fast Lotus that gifted me 2nd cause too many mistakes. By the way I ended with vapours on the last lap. Better do the math before nest race...
About low fps. This summer I shifted from my old ATI HD5770 1 gb to a less old Nvidia GTX 660 2gb and had to set it properly to not have fps drops with GPL. On iRacing I had a nice improvement with 2 gb RAM, but on GPL they are useless and I had to force max power performance, disable thread optimization and disable Vsinc in Control Panel. I can run AA at 4x without trasparency and FXAA. Even no more than 70% details in GPL options helps on heavy tracks or Mods like SC.
I have Win10 and the last ver 2004 is more invasive than previous. In Setting, Privacy I disabled all App in background and before to race I disable and stop Win Update Service with services.msc , that regularly restart after a Win restart. I put also High Performance in Control Panel/ Power saving options to run the CPU at high frequency.
Hope it helps

I lost my connection 10 minute after the race.. so I write now my report
Solid 60FPS for me all over the track and no problem at all, not even in traffic also
No patch installed (I didn't even know it existed..)

I use chat disable in practice/race because in the past it caused me some problems but I dont' remember the value that I've changed in shift.ini, I remember that caused FPS big falls of FPS, maybe someone has this problem

Jo, I was actually the fastest in the Ferrari, maybe because I was the only one.  ;)  I was surprised that I was the only one with Ferrari.  :)

On the technical side no problems here. Maybe it's also because of the cool Linux.  :thumbup1:

strong FPS Drops, as i exoerience them in the new Spa at some places. not an easy drive.
i think its track related.

Witch was precisely the problem with this track? CTD or FPS fall? both?

- EDIT -

I just read this from Ginetto on SRMZ forum
The file is in the first post of that thread

Quote
I added a file for FPS problems and online stability; you can find it at the bottom of the first post

The file reduces the Front and Backward drawing  of the polygons around the track  for online stability; it is not a drastic reduction so hopefully you can live with the few popups that will become evident.

Installation:
Copy goodwd65.355 and .3DO files in main folder to reduce the Front and Back view.

PRO: Improve FPS and stability
CON: This reduction will result in some little pop-ups driving and watching a replay.

Uninstall:
Just copy the files included imn the ORIGINAL FB view folder into main folder to go back to original situation

No problem without patch install for me

LISTEN :

A FEW WEEKS AGO, with lbgpl, we drove on this track, and the moderators' instruction was: NO PATCH INSTALLED

PS

For the testing guys, this is an improved version, so just let the new files overwrite it.

Didn't have the patch installed and so I had FPS drops down the backstraight and entering the s-f area, although less extreme than they are at Spa67 with the 60 FPS patch. Still it was pretty drivable and I ran into no other issues. Nice battle and fair with Policardi, but as I thought of it as a fun race, I tried pushing as hard as I could and see how close I could get to the fastest lap, something I wouldn't have done in a legit race. :D And sorry to Axel for the contact on lap 2 at turn one, maybe I could have backed out, but I also thought that the width of the track could have been used better as I was already on the inside with one wheel on the grass to prevent an incident. But I don't mind by any means since it was nothing more than a test race we had here.

(Btw you can link my name in the result table to my username, I am actually registered here since last week ^^)

Race name linked. If you want to change the name displayed you can to that in:

Profile -> Modify Profile -> Account Related Settings -> Name

Whilst you are there, go to  League Info -> Driver Details and set your location (that sets the country flag in the results table)

For your interest - I have already modified the track draw distance of Ginetto's new Montjuich track release.  I discovered the draw area to be much larger than needed.  This will cause frame rate loss on cards unable to handle the graphics load.  Available to Ukgpl if somewhere local to put it.

First of all - apologies for the start/non-start.  I was watching the flagman, but once the cars around me had started moming, I realised the guy on the left was not the right chap...

...so good reflexes with the new wheel to swerve around me :)

What did you plump for? Thoughts so far?
(my aging G25 seems particularly notchy/creaky these days; I just can't decide whether I'm trying to convince myself to replace it or keep it)

As it was a fun race, there was some particularly frantic action & more excitement than usual.

I had the test files in place, which did re-introduce the grandstand sounds.  In the event practice session, was getting approx 55 FPS on the final approach to the grandstand.   In the race, was getting lower than that approx 48-55 FPS.

However, no freeze/CTD.  Admittedly I did not spend too much time on the grass around Woodcote.
I've previously spent some time purposely spinning around the grass in that section & experienced a few CTD with SCX mod,  but not F1 or F2.  I know others have had issues.

I've since replaced the files with the latest from the SRMZ thread.  When testing offline with 16 AI, I've had a fairly consistent 60FPS around the lap.

Thanks for the event;  blistering performance up the front.

Cheers,
Dave.

Sounds like some good testing, Dave.  Pre-release testers take note.

My wheel is a GT from Logitec.  After more than 10 years without a top wheel, I've realised it's no longer possible to compete, without hardware enhancement.  Problem to that, is my upgraded WinXp system, needed for GPL Mod work.  Many 20 year old progs. need it to run.  New Logitec wheels do not advertise support for XP'ers, but the older, lower spec. GT does.

Faster setups possible, and more precise driving likely, although no promises.  ;D Only downside is the noise made by the steering mechanism.  Much sawing at the wheel, though it's not fallen off yet!
