Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Very tricky track in these cars, especially over some of the crests. So far identified 6 or 7 areas where there is potential to lose the rear, seems no sooner have I worked out how to take one section than another one makes itself known. :o Would advise plenty of practice.

100% agree Geoff, I'll be attempting to make a completely different setup here if it carries on, as it is throwing me off the road in all of the usual places, and a load of others as well.....Not sure I've ever had quite so much trouble getting around Nords!

Schwalbenschwanz seems the most difficult corner, car just does not like turning into the banked section, goes sideways every time, may try taking it on the flat part of the track.

I concur with the two gents above; very difficult indeed  :o

In addition, I have run into something very peculiar: twice I have gone off track and gotten stuck, in two different places. The 2nd time, I was stuck right at the track edge, but car wouldn't move.  While sitting stationary and not revving the engine, the tyre temps & wear continued to climb - rapidly.  The first time it was both front & rear, 2nd time only the fronts, which quickly got to 200º and exploded!   Steering wheel was vibrating while this took place.  Never seen this before in all my time with GTL.  Anyone else recognize this ?

Hmmmh - no big problems here. Three laps online -only one off: 09:37 / 09:43 / 09:20.

I'm not the fastest, I know, but for me a kind of a smooth drive on my hometrack.

Not sure whether I can maintain that level of concentration for the whole race on a working day evening,
but will be fun

In 1977 (GP Nuerburgring) Willi Bergmeister did a 9:02.900 in quali:

It's very tricky indeed, but i think i found the key here. The key is to drive the car very gentle and easy (lower steering lock will help i think) and brake very early! Do not let the car go on inertia as she don't like that, especiially at the fast corners. It was great when i try to control the car pushing the throttle and brake at the same time.

In my first lap i made 8:59.3 and i have no idea if this is good but at least i was able to drive safely.

I upload the setup, the name is "VW Scirocco 1 Gr.2, if somebody want's to give it a try. It's basicaly the Enna one, but with few changes.

Yes, the trick seems to be not to lift & brake over the tricky crests, lift & brake before & get on the power over the crests & take them as straight as possible.

Yep, very disciplined on braking and changing down in the dodgy bits, and in very straight lines as Geoffers said, along with a changed and less twitchy setup of course, has netted some decent pace and the ability to actually get around the lap without quite so much drama....

I have decided to give this one a miss. I think it would take me about a day to learn this circuit. Too much of a challenge for me. :( I have done three and a bit out-laps, span about half a dozen times, ended up on my roof once, oh and BTW if anyone finds a wheel in a field about two thirds of the way round it's mine. ::) For this evening I will join my local MG Classic Car Owners Club zoom virtual club night meeting. Less chance of crashing in that. I look forward to joining future races in this series and wish all an enjoyable evening. :thumbup1:

Lost connection near end of lap1 running just ahead of Kurt. Well, I was still running, but it looked like no one else was. Parked, hoping for a restart, came out of the server to see you all still on it.

Bad luck Andy, I think Dan was disco'd at the same time.

I lost connection too. But mine was between the tyres and the tarmac  :-\

Not a good night for me, just could not get a good flow going & was well off the times I was doing in testing (not as quick as DD though :o).After getting up to 3rd, had a spin a Fuchsrohre on lap 2 chasing Erling & dropped to 5th. Then on lap 4 I went off at Wehrseifen & got stuck, car would not move forward or backward so had to quit ::).

Grats to the podium & all finishers.

That was as difficult as nearly anything else I've done at Nords to be fair....

Amazing event even though i am disappointed with the mistakes i made.

We had great battle with Daz which started at the qualifying that i was able to win with just 1 second and with new PB.

Everything went wrong for me at the start where i lost the lead. After that i chased Daz and we had similar pace but unfortunately a step on the grass while turning made my car upset and i lost control of it.

Until the end of the lap second mistake appeared and i knew it will be miracle to catch Daz now.

I started pushing like hell and making risks and i was going really fast.

When i was behind Coyote in P3 i knew i had to overtake him ASAP because i was losing time to Daz. I was too aggressive and i apologies to him for the overtake, stopping so late and making almost an accident there.

After that Daz made a mistake and i needed around 30 seconds to understand i am at P1 now :D

At the beginning of Lap 5 he was just 3 seconds behind and i was ready for tough battle for the win. But everything went totally wrong for me at the beginning of the lap. I step a little bit deep on one of the kerbs and that made my car fly and lend on its roof.

This was game over for the win but i was lucky to continue in P4. Unfortunately Matt made a mistake and at the end i finish in P3.

Congrats to Daz and Coyote and thank to everyone for the great emotions.

Great vid, Dimitar. Posted it over at evolution-modding.net

Accidentally I watched your quali-lap yesterday and especially the jump at "Pflanzgarten 2" was crucial  :D ;D

"Oh my god"

Bad luck Andy, I think Dan was disco'd at the same time.

Looking at the replay, Dan went off track and slid off the edge of Nurbyworld. He escaped to the pits for a while. Exactly when he exited the server was when I suffered the disco. There's a glitch at that time on the replay, easily seen when rewinding from 500 to 495 in any car. Maybe this is how mass disco's happen. One car inadvertently triggers a glitch and one or more cars lose their connection too. Shame, I was looking forward to finishing 5th here  ;D

Glad I could finish here although it was a lonely race after Andy's sudden departure during lap one.
Some mistakes in laps two & three but two new PB's in lap four & five  :)
Thanks Dimitar for the setup.

Really like to pass on track all the places I often visited as a spectator years ago ;).

Today Nordschleife is no longer really interesting for me as over the years the track was more and
more adjusted to modern cars (GT3 etc.). IMO the cars have to be adjusted to the track!
For example in the past there was a small bump on the "Breidscheid Bridge" which was a really
demanding detail (especially for older racecars) and which was levelled about ten years ago
(unfortunately this bump is not there on the different track version of the Nordschleife for GTL)
as the jump at "Flugplatz" was.

A great race for me.  New pb in qual landed 3rd on the grid, only just!   Outstarted by Matt and surprised by his pace on L1; I frankly couldn't keep up.  Geoffers close behind, but midway through the lap, Dan got past him, which had me worried.  He went off (the edge of the world..) before he could become a threat, unfortunately.  Later passed an overturned Dimitar, putting me in 3rd again.  Early on L2, I found Matt stranded in a ditch, elevating me to 2nd.

Geoffers vanished around Flugplatz I believe, leaving me all alone and in my own thoughts.  Thus unprepared for Dimitar suddenly catching up. His driving had me worried he would try a kamikaze overtake in a place where it really wasn't possible.  Completely threw my lines, making me bump over curbs, slowing him even more than I already did. Should have let him pass, but then we are racing...  8)   I thought his eventual overtake at the end of the lap was rather elegant, so no apologies needed for that (and yes, I did have higher tyre pressure, if you used the setup you uploaded   ;))

Matt had inched closer under my shenanigans with Dimitar, and despite pushing as hard as I dared, he was a shadow I couldn't shake - in fact his car was growing in my mirrors. Saw him go off and thought it would buy me a breather, but seemingly worked as a shortcut, since he got even closer!  Passed a stranded Dimitar early on the final lap, and later Matt went off & retired. Great shame that a great chase should end that way  :-\

In Dimitar's video, you can see the strange phenomenon I reported earlier:  While he's stationary, with engine off, his left front tyre keeps getting hotter, and tyre wear continues to grow.  Seems a lot of the retirements were due to cars getting stuck in the ground - a glitch of the track, or perhaps in combo with this car?

Dimitar, if you make the change I suggested last week, you won't have to exit to save the replay - the new one will just get a new timestamp in the name and the old one is kept.  You do get a lot of replays with it, as every session produces one with a unique timestamp in the name, including the hotlap, if you make one. They don't take up much space though, and you can always delete those you don't want to keep.
