Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: None.

Being a bit pedantic (sorry), the thread title says Sandown (1962 - 83). The 62-83 track didn't have the chicane between T1 & T2.

Just like the first race of the championship the beginning of the end for me started on the start.

On the qualy i was unable to nail the perfect lap and was slower than Geoff who made fantastic lap.

On the start i lost 2 positions to flying Dan and Daz. But fortunately for me they both made mistakes soon and i was now behind Geoff. I try to chase him and we drove with the same tempo for 6-7 lap before i hit the kerb on turn 2 just a little bit more and he throw my car just into the grass and i made a spin. I lost 2 positions to Manfred and Daz and i knew it was Game Over for the win here.

I lost 15 seconds and i was furious to my self but after that i was able to stay away from big mistakes and after Daz made a mistake on penultimate corner i was in P3 which i kept to the end.

Grats to Manfred on the win and the magnificent race from P10 and to Geoff for his podium.

Liked the track and love the car; just wish I could drive it competitively, like the front runners.  How they attain the laptimes the do, is quite the mystery to me.

Another disastrous start. Got faster off the line than Clive ahead of me and tried to go around him, but didn't correct enough, hitting his right rear corner, sending him off into the barrier - very sorry about that   With the flurry of cars going past while I hesitated, I lost track of his whereabouts, so didn't know if he was in front or behind.  When I realised, the entire field bar Tony was ahead of me.

Made up places - Micha waved me past, Kurt went off, Hristo went off, but soon on my case. Aggressive overtake move by him the following lap, ended in the gravel. I homed in on a 3-way battle between Clive, Matt & Fulvio. Matt went off, and I battled Fulvio over a few laps, until a small error let me past.  Gained another place when Dan visited the pits. All the while, Hristo remained a threat behind me.  Some laps, he would bite frightening chunks out of the gap, but every time he got closer, he hurled himself at the scenery once more, giving me a respite.  Clive wasn't far up ahead, but was faster and most uncharacteristically, he stubbornly refused to make one of his trademark flamboyant errors, so no way for me of catching him.

Tough race altogether; took a lot of concentration never to miss a braking point, and to keep the kerb running on a level where I wouldn't lose control and spin.

Grats to Manfred on victory, and to Geoffers & Dimitar for their podiums.

Enjoyed the track except that some fool had inserted a damn chicane in it  ::). Quite why you would put a chicane there, just before a slow corner is beyond me, I could understand having one before the fast left at the end of the back straight.

Anyway enough of that, somehow managed to nab pole for this with the only lap under 1.17 I had ever done, then it was probably because Manfred skipped qually & DD had a disco.

I grabbed the lead at the start but was under no illusions that I could hold on to it. Dan held up the chasers for a couple of laps allowing me to build a small lead but soon DD & Daz were hunting me down. I was expecting to be quickly caught but they did not seem to be much quicker than I was. Early on DD spun & Daz & now Manfred were closing in until they started battling & I was able to extend the lead a little. I think Daz must have had an off track excursion about lap 20 as he dropped way back just leaving Manfred to chase me down. Again I expected to be caught quite quickly but although he was up to a second faster on some laps, on others I would open the gap again. Towards lap 30 I was seriously thinking I could hang on & win this, then it all went wrong.

Through the little ess-bend after the back straight I must have just caught the kerb at slightly the wrong angle & it pulled the car right & I got two wheels on the grass just at the point I should have been braking. No way to stop in time then & the car skated off track & just glanced the barrier. Got back on track quite quickly but not before Manfred had gone past, lost a bit of focus after that & had to settle for 2nd. To be fair I would have been very happy with 2nd before the race seeing the laptimes DD & Manfred had done in the practice session.

Congrats to Manfred on a great drive from the back of the grid & to DD in 3rd.

Grats to the fast boys on the podium, just like Erling says, where you guys are finding those extra seconds is a total mystery.

Apologies to Tony for somehow taking the wrong car #. I will claim that I was distracted by my concerns for his wellbeing when the server was not where we all expected it to be  ::).

Sorry to anyone behind me at the start and my rather sluggish movement. I still have some serious practice to do ( when I can be bothered to find the time  ;) ) to get to grips with the clutch and H shift off the grid. It is either rampant wheelspin and no forward movement, total bog down or uncontrollable snaking.
I do not dream of the lofty heights that Geoffers lives in, but if you had offered me 5th place before the race I would have laughed at you.  In my eyes there were 4 aliens ahead of me, so I was leading the second division lol.
I guess I should apologise to Erling for being inconsistent at being inconsistent and not offering my usual entertaining exit?? The H shift did catch me out a few times but only once where it caused an "off". The other times I tried to select 5th gear on the back straight ( it doesn't like that and the car almost stopped dead!) and one or two hairy moments when I momentarily missed a downshift  :scared:

I was frustrated with my progress as I could never hook up a complete lap. I would nail one sector and gain maybe 0.5 secs and then lose 0.75 secs through the sector that I had aced on the previous lap!!

Dan appeared to be having a nightmare race and each time he came into view he would carry out impact testing on the barriers or inspect the length of the grass!!?? But his car did have that great smell of BRUT whenever I came up behind him, so maybe it was the fumes inside the car that made Dan a little dizzy?  ::)

I'm with Clive, found this quite frustrating all round.

Done the track before, quite good fun I think. However, I'm not a massive fan of heavy yank iron in all honesty.....great noise though....

Quali was a little off the pace, but start was OK and sneaked past Manfred. Didn't want to turn in on anyone in the big old bus, so let it run to the edge of the track in turn one, and found Dan taking full advantage by going under lots of us in a very cheeky move, great stuff. Hung around for a while behind Dan, but when all the initial shenanigans had stopped it was Geoff in the lead by a few seconds from me in second, Manfred 3rd, Dimitar 4th after a small off track moment.

That stayed the status quo for a few laps, and I had found some pace on some laps, but not every lap. This was allowing Geoff to stay too far in front to catch, and Manfred to close right up behind. Dimitar was also hoving into view in the mirror, so it was going to be hard work to hold both of those off.

And so it proved, had been having issues with the brakes locking as the tyres wore a little, and it locked up into the final chicane as Manfred applied the pressure, sending me left when the track went right..whoops...and this allowed Manfred and Dimitar both through for the podium without me being too much of a pest. I had another off shortly after, and a little armco rubbing saw a little damage to add to the other woes I now had, so just brought it home from there really as I knew there would be no catching the guys at the sharp end.

Need some setup work on this thing to be consistent I think, was mostly all over the place, and I can only recall using it a couple of times in years gone by so have no real history with it unlike some of the other cars. Never did any Muscle car stuff if I could help it!

Grats to the faster guys  :thumbup1:
