Correct - the 2.0a1 pack had a load of UKGTR_*.hdc files, the same number of UKGTR_*.car files, and two SIM_UKGTR.* files. Nuke them all! :D

I went on the server earlier, it all works fine as far as I can see.... I could not tell much difference to be honest with the ballast on the cars, but i am using a joystick and only have buttons for throttle/brake control.

...Some mighty fine looking cars  :)   ... the sexiest grid around, it's bordering on pornography, wheres the censors  :P

I'm amazed you can be competitive with a joystick.  :notworthy:

Just noticed it's a 35 rather than 40 minute race, with the "missing" 5 minutes being added onto the backend of qualifying.

Just curious as to why we've got a slightly shorter race than the "Masters"??  Is it related to lag issues between sessions between the 2 servers??

Yes. We wanted to stagger the race starts so that there's no danger of one server changing session whilst the other one is starting the race, because of the lag it causes, but I still wanted them to end at the same time so that drivers from both can meet up in the lobby immediately afterwards if they so wish.

I would have thought a 5 minute gap to chat about the race before the academy guys arrive would be a good thing. Seems a shame to drop the 5 minutes racing since it would appear that 40 minutes is a better test of tyre conservancy.

You're assuming that people join the server immediately after it is started. The session doesn't actually start till someone joins, so if someone joins server 1 at 0 minutes but no one joins server 2 till 2 minutes later then there is another 2 minute gap between them.

There are other timings involved too, but 5 mins should ensure the two don't start together. There is no warm up any more so the 2 min windows there has gone. Race 1 should be well underway before race 2 finishes Q2.

 :(

Fekin ATI vpu recover popped up asking if I wanted to send an error report and spoiled everything, had an absolute blast up to then though changing places with a few guys and enjoying my first race on that circuit (and it showed!) ::)

Congrats to whoever won, some good racing from what I saw at the back o the grid.
Here's to a better result (and maybe a finish!) at the next one!

Got it sorted finally Dave - but only left me with 7 minutes to get used to Valencia, set up car and qualify. Doomed from the start really - set up was useless as the back end was sideways more than anything, and not much grip at the front  :-\

That'll teach me to leave it all to the last minute!

Sorry if i got in anyones way whilst showing off my ice racing skills
Then, my girlfriend came up to tell me she had broken my mobile phone - that was the last straw  :-X
Had to disconnect in the end as it was an horrible night for me  :-[

Congrats to the podium
Now: Academy?! Academy of what? Senior or mature guys for sure
What a amazing driving guys, you all have my respect ;)
Congrats also for the Mosler and Nissan drivers
The Vertigo is a hell fun of a drive, man, this car do corners almost as a slot car :D
but surely have a lack of good top speed ::)

Please...please, when someone leave pit lane, having a car behind flashing the lights,
for around 1/3 of a lap and with a blue flag waving, dont secure position, let the other guy
overtake you and then you aim for your hot lap aswell, thank you.

Great fairplay during race, thanks all, see you next race :)

Cheers

Really enjoyed that. Qualified 4th and then went a stuck a wheel on the grass in the first few laps  ::) ! Rejoined 10th and then had a great battle with Dave, Reign Man, and Picnic. We were nose to tail for laps. When we reached a few backmarkers it gave me a opportunity to pass and then start the chase down to Pribero. There was no way I was shaking Dave and all behind too much though and it was a great sight seeing the 2 TVRs and 350z showing good pace. Perdy than had a spin which bought him back with myself and Pribero in the vertigo which was also showing good pace too! Perdy than made a slight mistake which allowed me pass and then gave me a lot of trouble keeping him behind again! Couldn't get anywhere near close enough to make a move on the Vertigo so 5th it ended up. Good race in all!

That was a great race! I enjoyed it a lot.

I qualified 7th I think Just in front of Gizmo, finished 6th in the end, just in front of Gizmo ;D. He was on my rear end all of the way but I was able to hold it together.

Special thanks to Perdy450. Thanks for the place on the last lap mate, appreciate it  :P

Close racing all the way, quite a long train of us, there was some sort of drama going on which resulted in me tapping Paul Richards (Sorry) and i think it was around that time a broke sharply mid corner, i was sliding a bit and had to do something which resulted in gizmo tapping me in the rear end (sorry bout that also  :-\).

I was a bit scrappy but was able to keep quite consistant...well, more so than usuall, 90 % of the laps were in the mid to low 1:38's.

Hard work but extremely fun.

Thanks guys

Reign Man

What a great race! After just pipping teammate Picnic for 9th, we ended up the wrong way round on the grid. I didn't even notice but Pete, gentleman that he is, did, and since we were on TeamSpeak together we swapped places for the start.

Got away well behind Reign Man and try to apply maximum pressure and force a mistake, but he was having none of it. After a while had to settle into a rhythm and protect my medium compound tyres; I figured most would risk softs and my goal for the first half of the race was to consolidate my position and be ready to mount an attack later in the race when the soft runners started to struggle. At one point I think I was running as high as 6th after a few people went off, but couldn't hold off a hard charging Paul Richards in the 28CDm car and slipped back to 7th.

Must say sorry to Reign Man for, ahem, "disabling" his brake lights at one point trying to line him up for a pass out of 11. Was very relieved I didn't push you off.

With less than 10 to go Picnic wasn't offering any real pressure from behind and I could see Reign Man starting to struggle in front, so I pushed really hard, overstepping the mark a few times but always able to close to under a second again, but he held fast and I couldn't find a way by despite my tyres being under 10 all round on the wear scale.

Great job from the brake souls in the 993 GT2s - they obviously need  a bit more ballast,  but I still wouldn't want to drive one! :D

Nice race.
Had a bit of fun with Edamspeed and Gomes (nice clean racing guys thanks) during the first few laps, managed to get round them, then got caught by someone making a bad rejoin and spent the rest of the race trying to catch them up again. Hardly made any mistakes so am happy bunny there.
Looking good for the rest of the season. Have to try and find a bit of extra speed from somewhere :-[

BTW. I thought the grid got a bit mixed at the start?

Was a good race, I found the pace fairly easy at the start but never had enough couragespeed to attack Gizmo. Paul R as he said kindly let three or so of us past early on and then proceeded to give my rear grief for a few laps until I took a bit too much kerb and only just held it together without spinning but lost the place in the process. From then on it was follow my leader for a while until Paul got Dave and Reign Man in quick succession and it was as if he had never been there ;)

Started to lose what felt like loads of apex speed, the major trouble I think I was having was a nicely warm front right trying to work with a frigdid front left. A whole 20degC difference between them :/

Must apologise to Perdy for smacking him in the rear during qual, typical rear end roundabout effort. Saw you move, checked my rear view mirror and you had stopped, whack - sorry. Also had a moment passing Rob, shame we don't get replays except for the race, you were giving me the corner but I locked a wheel and went passed you completely sideways and somehow ended up facing the corner exit  ;D

Congrats to the podium and thanks to the server guys for arranging the league.

It was a great race for me up to 22 mins.  I was in 5th and having a fantastic battle with pribeiro and the closely following pack.  Fantastic driving pribeiro, you were all over me in the corners but my porker had a bit too much speed down the straights.  Then my racing world caved in...  Coming up to Curva 11 I could see MerlinThePike had spun and was sitting on the side of the track.  As I went to turn in my steering wheel decided to come off in my hands :(  As you can see from the replay my porker just went straight ahead into the parked Merlin.  Sorry mate there was nothing I could do to avoid you and I'm really sorry for the damage I caused.  :surrender:

I then spent the next few laps struggling to get my wheel fixed back to the desk.  I don't think I slowed anyone up during this period, but sorry if I did.

After a few more laps had passed I was back in the low 1:37s. But then I came across a backmarker who proceeded to block me at every attempt at passing.  When I finally got passed he then punted me off at the next corner.  :nono:

After this my car was too damaged to be competitive and by this point I had lost heart in racing, but I soldiered on to finish 14th.

Better luck next time  ;D

Let's hope the G25 has better clamps  :P

No need to apologise mate I actually thought it may well have been my fault. Stuck a wheel of following a spinning car - note to self must look at track not car in gravel in future  ;D  - which slow me up. Considering how close it was it was pretty clean all in all.

Well, that was a good race! Wasn't expecting much, to be honest, as I'd only done about 3 laps in the Mosler, and about the same amount at Valencia before tonight.

That being said, I was able to get enough practice in to be reasonably competitive. Actually improved my times in the race over qualifying by about 3 seconds! :)

Had a great battle with Gomes and Don. Don was threatening me at every turn so I let him past :P to have a go at Gomes, but then we encountered the recently spun Rob Clenshaw, who was trying to rejoin at the final corner. Poor Don was already comitted to the corner, and smacked into Rob, and I ended up trying to go between them. Sadly I also had nowhere to go, and hit Rob myself - sorry dude :( Insult to injury springs to mind.

I'm rather glad I didn't take a Fezza or a Porker. I figured most people would, and I was right. I wanted something different. :) It's not bad - got some nice turn in at the front - but it lacks the overall pace of the Porkers and Fezza. Has a little bit of trouble heating the front tyres. Might swap to something else for the next race, but not sure yet. Might keep plugging away, as there's more to be found in the setup.

Well, what can I say, great race although gutted to run wide on last turn 2nd to last lap giving Dan the lead back.

That 993 drives like a 3/4 full bath on wheels  ;D

Please don't add any more ballast to it, it really is a VERY tricky drive to master, but somehow quite rewarding once you can predict which way the water is going to slop next.

I think over the season with some of the more complex, twisty circuits the speed advantage will be more than negated, you need to brake 1.5km before you want to turn lol

Anyway great race all and thanks to the back markers for their awareness and courtesy

Dan, good win mate......................Next time!!  :P

It did make things interesting, i could see both Gizmo and Picnic in my mirrors, they were real big :D. I was petrified that they would get past.

Make sure you report it properly using the link on the event's results page.

Report sent.

The driver in question is clearly new and hasn't read the rules.

I don't want anyone to be banned or receive a penalty over this.  I'll be happy with just a warning and a reminder to read the rules.

Cheers.

I was in 5th and having a fantastic battle with pribeiro and the closely following pack.  Fantastic driving pribeiro, you were all over me in the corners but my porker had a bit too much speed down the straights.

Thank you Darren, you did a great consistent driving, was great following you for those laps, untill you run off :(
Impossible to overtake you, good job ;)

I think over the season with some of the more complex, twisty circuits the speed advantage will be more than negated, you need to brake 1.5km before you want to turn lol

 ??? ???
MORE complex and twisty than Valencia? Can't think of any more twisty and complex than that. I think the GT2 will certainly have no trouble dispatching the opposition once it starts to stretch all 600 horses on the less twisty tracks.

Huge apologies to Don. I tried to rejoin and spun on the grass into Don's side. Completely my fault, I'm sorry.

Twisty it may be, but it is still quite a fast track with long straight stretches. I believe some of the other tracks with shorter straights will expose the car.

Quick browse of the FIA GT championship results shows that Valencia is the 2nd slowest of the 2004 tracks, only Oschersleben is slower.

Sounds like it was a good evening.  I got home last night nice and early and was ready to join the practice server for 6.30 to get my setup finalised and run some laps.

I was ready, the bloody internet connection wasn't.....BT were having problems apparently....and are shortly going to be losing my business as it's not the first time I've been unable to connect ALL BLOODY EVENING  >:( >:( >:(.  Really annoyed about it, I'd put in a good number of laps and got a decent setup.  Oh, and then there's not having a chance to see the team skins in their inaugural outing after I'd worked pretty hard to get a good looking couple of cars out on circuit  :'(.

Nothing I can do about it now  :-\, going to change to a reliable ISP (the ISDN connection was fine on the router, just BT's side of things that was knackered) - anyone got any suggestions on that front?

What a great race! cheers guys, very mature and consistent driving! (i might not be quite as consistent tho!  ::))

Suprised my self in qualifying and managed a 1m35 something. A second quicker than before, and i thought finally this twisty annoying circuit has clicked with me! So i started enjoying it!

Started 2nd (although first on grid for some reason??).....then Jamera in his GT2 was soon past in 3 laps, I already decided not to give him too much hassle but had no choice anyhow when i ran a bit wide (mistake no.1). Ran 3rd most of the race with Jan Duijs keeping me on my toes in his identical to mine RSR. He caught me, then I pulled out a gap....until mistake no.2, a spin and Jan passed  :o

Ran 4th for a while then spun again (mistake no.3) and PRiberio passed in his Gillet! So far not great! lol

Then had another spin (mistake no.4) and the great looking 28CD ferrari of Paul Richards went past!

He caught PRiberio and I was on Paul's back and hoping to gain some more positions but all this spinning had buggered the tyres....so i decided to spin again (?!) on last lap :scared:

Special thanks to Perdy450. Thanks for the place on the last lap mate, appreciate it  :P

no probs  :'(

.....and lost another two positions to ReignMan and Dave! so finished 8th but loved the race anyway  O0

Must apologise to Perdy for smacking him in the rear during qual, typical rear end roundabout effort. Saw you move, checked my rear view mirror and you had stopped, whack - sorry.

No problem at all mate! tbh, i barely remember the incident! Sorry your one of the few people who didn't get past at the end of the race! lol

Decided to try a different car this season after running the Porker last year, so went with the 350z. I have done a little practice and am slowly getting to quite like this car, tho couldnt get the temps up on either front or back, they were both around late 60`s early 70`s. A distinct lack of setup knowledge to blame there - time to sit down and take some time to work this thing out.

A lack of track practice didnt help much either (so good preparation then!) as I floundered at the back of the pack (no change there then - perhaps I should try another car!! :) ) before ramming it into a wall, no grip, with about 4/5 laps left. Still, there is now a 14 day gap to get some practice in, and sort a decent setup for Brno - I hate that track!!

Cheers

Rob

I found a setup in the online files ("Dominator" or something) - way too much wing but with minor tweaks it was very drivable and I held my own against the TVRs pretty well. I had lowish tyre temps too but I was being conservative at the start and I think keeping them to low 70s helps keep the wear down as well. The biggest problem I've found with the Zed so far is that I can be trail braking into a tight corner and it will suddenly let go at both ends and slide; I haven't really worked out why but at least it doesn't spin. :D

I highly recommend Nildram in the UK. I have had their broadband max (8mb) service (and 2mb before that) and never had any problems once they had capped my line for the max service. Very good customer service and total reliability. If you want to stick with ISDN though, I am not sure that they offer this...

Have you ever had to use it. Min 5 days to respond to emails, and minimum 35 mins on hold when you ring technical support from my experience  >:( And in fact they don't read first the email but send a stock response. I know as I had the same email as the 4th response  :-\
