FOr me a wet race is almost better than a dry race. The extra thrill that you get trying to balance the car under slippery conditions and seeing the spray of all the cars is something great.

I agree fully with the two above, nothing better than a wet race...mainly in enduro's and hopefully it starts to dry mid race. Just wish timescale couldve ben implimented on the dedi server as in SP

I'm all for racing in the dry .... but it can be fun in the wet and it makes a nice change every once in a while.

Not so sure about Valencia in the wet though, think it'd be a bit of a pig .... well moreso in the wet.

I'm a little confused, it says on the Championship Format page that all the Academy Endurance races will be dry? but this page
https://www.simracing.org.uk/index.php?ind=lm2&group=42  seems to contradict that statement!

Which one is it?
Personally I think we have to learn to run in the wet as well! I would be fairly disappointed if it wasn't the case.

Hint,hint  ;)

I had to rename some to get them to fit into GTR2PD's 29 character name limit. There's a new version of GTR2PD out now (1.08) with a bigger limit so hopefully for the next pack I can stop doing that.

Pleased with my qually - 3rd NGT I think.  The starting grid was wrong though - thanks for letting me past on the pace lap Picnic .... and sorry for the nudges.  Flipping wife distracted me on the first one, and I was suffering with FPS issues for the second.  My fault on both accounts, really sorry about the second, I thought you'd caught it ....  :-\

Cracking bit of racing with Picnic after that, started getting wierd graphical anomalies and FPS issues consistently from about half way, but just about managing to keep it together.

Got a stop-go on the pitstop, stupid error.  Later on in the race I lost it coming out of the final bend courtesy of 1fps ..... and then the pit limiter engaged???  Got back on track and carried on down the straight - oops, stop-gop number 2......

At the back of the remaining runners after the stop-go (2nd) so just ambled round to the finish.

Shame about the problems, as it had been a thoroughly enjoyable race.  Now, it's just really frustrating, as I should have been a couple of places further up the leaderboard.  Still, this isn't a one round champ, so I'll be back.

That was a shame you blew up james. Up till then the racing was brilliant. It was a good race for me, my setup seemed ok and treated the tires well. I think i was a bit over cautious coming into the pits and engaging the speed limiter to early which i think gave james the lead back but really there was nothing in it between me and james. a very good race! ;D

my eye's and my knee's hurt   ;D race went fairly well got into a rhythm with a couple of lambo's had a few pass's then span  ::) caught back up then   span :-X had a good stint in the middle with Ossie he was faster then i was faster then started to get abit of a shift problem in i was shifting down to 3 but would hit 2 or 1 and it would snap quickly to quickly.
only real moment was when edam had a moment with some 1 and i almost span into him but just managed to gather it in time  :sweatdrop:
congrates to the winners

Was really disappointed to see you out, Luke. You weren't scampering away like I expected you too and I was really looking forward to seeing if my strategy would get me ahead of you after my pitstop. As it was, almost everybody else had multiple visits to the pits so in the end I did a lap more than everyone else in class for what felt like a slightly lacklustre class win the end.

Still, was very pleased to finish without making any mistakes whatsoever. ;D

then on lap thirty something DISASTER black smoke poring from my car :o NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO there was no warning temps were fine ???

Let me guess... no autoclutch... you don't lift when you shift... and/or rev limiter at max and you use it too (although I will admit I did the same this race as the Nissan's engine may not be grunty but it does seem almost bulletproof).

Everything was going well and I went for the pits, but there was another car in my pitspace  ??? Dropped 3 places because of that bug  :-[

Sadly yet another bug carried through from GTR1, through GTL and into GTR2. The way pit boxes are allocated is ridiculous. ::) Not a good idea to nudge another car though, either park or go around. No need to spoil somebody else's race just because yours has gone pear shaped - it's not their fault.

Sorry, I'm new to this game and I thought I could park inside his car (this was my first race of this distance, and I haven't experienced this bug before ).

And I was down to 1L fuel left so I couldn't even go out again for another lap.  :(

At the end of the race I had 2L of fuel left, I'd better add a couple of litres extra next time  :o

Very intense racing that, Adam was generally a bit quicker than me but the extra grunt the TVR has over the Vertislow meant the big over taking spots were easy to defend. Thanks for waiting when I lost it Adam, thought I had caught it too ;)

Made the mistake of not checking to see if the pit guys were going to repair aero damage, so had a nice long 52 sec pit stop. Then let my team leader through who was now a lap up but yet to stop and swiftly followed this by have a blonde moment. No way would I have made the corner even with warm tyres and  I let Adam and Don passed me. Between then and the end of the race, both Adam and Don had excursions and let me through. But I decided that perhaps site seeing was the order of the day and promptly gave the places back. Tried hard to chase Don into another mistake but he help firm and we finished a 75 min race less than a sec apart. Well done :)

I got lucky on the fuel; the in-game estimate is fairly accurate for the Zed so I went with very little margin for error. Finished with just 6 litres left and got the low warning during my victory lap so I'll be a bit more generous next time. Also nearly forgot about turning off the ignition before they could fuel me, which was stupid because I'd specifically practised stops for 15 minutes yesterday so I could do it without having to think to hard. And I had a Post-It note stuck on my wheel just to make sure! ::)

Thought my ADSL was going to dump me out early in the race; Luke ahead and Picnic behind were jumping all over the place whilst we were in close proximity and I thought, "yeah, here we go, say goodnight" but somehow it staggered back to usable (160kbps - barely more than dual channel ISDN >:().

A very tough race for me, my knees and hands hurt  :o
Well I had hard tires on the rear and they take a lot of time to warm up so during the formation lap I wanted to take the oppertunity, but I *cough* spun off the track and had to re-join at P19. So I'm pretty glad to finish at 4th position. Big Kudos to Gomes, too bad your engine blew.

Nice opening race :)

Feel a little lucky to of nicked 2nd.
Had a really tough first 40mins, the TVR I had filled with fuel and only planned to stop for tyres. It wasn't long before I found myself in last place after misjudging my braking point whilst letting a GT through.
I then spent about 10 laps following Gerald closely, (nice driving G) but never had the top speed with a full tank to get past the 360.
Dived into the pits on the 40 min mark and was happy with a 22sec stop :)

I then guessed my team mate Adam must have got a S/G as I saw his second pitout message and by then was only a few seconds in front of me. (bad luck mate)
I was really surprised to see I'd caught Picnic who just appearing out of the pits by that time :o
I made a couple of stupid errors in the last 30 mins letting the GT's by, that should of cost me more but luckily for me Picnic and Adam seemed to be having there own problems.
Great last 10 mins or so as Picnic was closing on me and pressured me all the way to the finish ;)
Allmost an undeserved 2nd, but I've raced enough to know I'll take it anyway I can

Grats to the winners and finishers and onto Brno 8)

Well, having ditched the Maserati as I couldn't make it handle, I wasn't sure that the Saleen would be the best bet for an Enduro round - with its tendancy to chew up rears! Didn't want to pick a Borgnine or a Fezza though, so plumbed for the Pirelli-shod S7-R.

However, I spend a lot of time working on the setup, and to be honest I had more problems with the fronts! I started off with soft fronts and med rears, thinking the fronts would last double the time of the rears, but by half-distance the fronts were very near 20 on the wear scale, and I was getting serious understeer. So, change of all 4 at the pit stop to mediums, and after that it went really well - by the finish, the fronts were still more worn then the rears, and I reckon I could have done about 40 minutes on a set so I'm happy with that!

The race started out well - was keeping up with the Lambos and Fezzas, and before my pitstop things were going well, until I was rear-ended by a lapped car :( After the pitstop I made a few errors myself, usually when lapping NGTs - the set up of the Saleen is such that it doesn't like getting up on kerbs at a slow speed, so a couple of times I spun because I put my wheels on the kerbs to get past traffic cleanly. Picnic knows what I mean after I rotated next to him at Curva 2 :D

The last 10 minutes were great - I was really in the groove, and chasing down Enzo for 2nd place. I was taking about 1 second or more each lap out of him, but ran out of laps just at the end. We were separated by 1.1 seconds at the end :)

After watching the replay I'd like to say grats to jamera. You must have been laughing your ass off about all of us idiots who let you pass because we thought you were in a fight with james, when in fact you were one lap behind him. Great way to gain 4 positions without any driving skill. Too bad you spun and lost what you had worked for so "hard"  :P

Started fairly well but had a terrible middle stint as may tyres started to wear very badly(was using softs).  Pitted for fuel and recieved a stop go for speeding in pit lane. Did not think i was speeding as my pit limiter was on all the time in pits and well before i entered.  I then came in for my stop/ go and recieved another for speeding. ??? Got very frustrated :taz: as I tried to make sure it didn't happen again but did.  Last section a relapped many cars from 17th and got back up to ninth.  Very enjoyable and tiring race.

:oops:Sorry to edamspeed for the rear ending, I let you pass and then you disappeared then came back right in front of me sorry once again not much i could have done.

Well done to podium and to Gizmo for finishing in front of me in the nissan(ngt).

steady start to the season, didnt have the pace for q,so happy with grid, settled for meds and just hoped i would have a steady run, managed a steady pace and the ngt guys ran with care and helped when they could, got to pits without incident, fueled and went to pick up some time, settled into race and just let it unfold, when all pitting done i was in no mans land ,no pace for leader ,but enough to back off and save tyres and fuel from 3rd,nw guys and great racing .

Very enjoyable race for me, esp the little duel I had with Dave just before I pitted. I also received a speeding penalty, so once that was taken I was pretty much on my own which was a shame. Pit stops are definately a skill that need practice so I shall be doing that for the next one.

Cheers all

Very enjoyable race for me, esp the little duel I had with Dave just before I pitted. I also received a speeding penalty, so once that was taken I was pretty much on my own which was a shame. Pit stops are definately a skill that need practice so I shall be doing that for the next one.

It wasn't much of a duel in the end - I was on a very long first stint and really had no fight left in the tyres at that stage. Luckily I'd done 15 minutes of pit stop practice the day before and in the light of the number of return visits I saw, chose to sacrifice an extra 3 or so seconds on entry to make absolutely sure that it went by smoothly.

'Twas a bit of a shame I had nobody to fight in the last 20 minutes because I never made proper use of my second set of tyres.

Just had a proper look at the Valencia grid slots and as we suspected they are all the wrong way round. I'd speculate that the track's unusual anti-clockwise layout confused whoever set the slots up. Now we know about it it won't really be a problem as long as the right side of the grid knows it must let the car to the left go first when the pace lap begins.

Funny, because on race night I saw Adam in the Elise and not the Vertigo!

I asked a question specifically about this in the skins thread (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=2228.msg38262#msg38262) but neither of you answered it. :-\

Sry, somehow I missed that post!
I installed the first skinpack manually (hopefully I removed all the old files) before I installed the updated version with modman.

Interesting. I know Gerald had problems with installation too - can you both do a search for UKGTR_8.CAR - my theory is that you have two of them, one a Vertigo from the official skinpack 2.1 and one leftover from the earlier apha release...

This is what I found?

Ah ha, I knew it. Use ModMan to remove the pack, then delete all files with UKGTR in their name from inside the GTR2\GameData directory, then reinstall the pack with ModMan. GTR2, like GTL (and probably rFactor) use the .CAR file name to communicate car identity, but AFAICT only actually verify the identity of the car being driven, which is why you end up with the wrong one being picked up for others.

If you really want to do a manual tidy up, check which one is correct by looking in the skin pack Zip file - there should only be one in there. Then delete the others (not sure about the one in GTR2Manager_backups, but you can probably leave it, especially if it ends in .nul).

Ok, thanks.

When I uninstalled with Modman I found a UKGTR_8.CAR Elise still there that I must have missed, nuked it and hopefully now all will be well.
