Cool. We are again in lock down here. So I can imagine me being around for this one as GT2's are good to drive.

Are these standard cars or do I need to download them somewhere?

The Porsche and Ferrari may be part of Assetto corsa DLC packs, cant remember off the top of my head, but if you've done any Sunday night GT2 races in the last couple of years you have probably already got them

OK, just checked in game, the BMW & Ferrari are already there, the Corvette & Porsche are part of DLCs. Now if I use a BMW or Ferrari, do I still need to purchase the DLCs with the Corvette & Porsche in, or is it like R3E where you can race against cars that you do not own?

No Geoff, unfortunately with AC you'll need all the cars, not just the one you want to use. Otherwise you'll not be able to get on the server.

OK thanks Frex. Not sure I will bother at present just for the one race, maybe when there is a full series I will buy the DLCs.

the AC DLC's are quite old now, you might pick them up at bargain price in the steam xmas sales

Werent they on offer recently? I seem to remember you could pick all the DLC up really cheaply. Maybe wait for the Xmas sale?

Well I took the plunge & bought the cars needed for this, BUT I am miles off the pace judging by the last time you raced these at Spa, certainly don't get on as well with these as the TCR cars. Currently doing 2.23s which is some 7s off the pace of the fastest guys, not expecting to match their times, but struggling to know where to find a couple of seconds, let alone 4 or 5!  ???

Try the Porker, Geoff. I couldn't anywhere with the others either.

These cars are not balanced and technically from different eras of GT racing. I think the BMW and Ferrari may have been racing together in GT2 but the C7 is a later GTE car and the Porsche is a few years after that.

Hello! I'm totally new here, I've been only in iRacing so far, so few stupid questions:
-How can I find this server and is it password projected?
-Is there everything AC:s original content or should I download some mods?

Moi Matti, write search box in lobby "simracing.org", that's easiest way to find server.  I happend to know that you got everything you need for this race and you can find password top of this page, in this case it's "xmasfun". Tervetuloa mukaan.

??? Whats wrong with firking game dumped to desktop twice, this just happens on a Sunday, Wont bother again on a Sunday, a waste of time practice etc,

No practice or setup time, took Pork because Toni suggested it would be a good one
I did try the Corvette, but the Pork was easier and a bit faster for me with default setups
Had some fun in the race, surprisingly battling with Geoff some of the time, and trying to
get past a red ferri. Ended up nearly spearing someone in the final chicane as I misjudged
the braking, sorry for that. Otherwise a good clean race.

Didn't really expect to win this one but I'll take it. ;)

Unlucky we had some disconnects and spins from the lead, but Mark and I had a good chase in the end before he spun on the last lap. Hopefully some of the folks joining for the first time stick around after the New Year.

Congrats to Toni on the win.

The race started badly for me in qually where I messed up every lap with either a track cut or a spin, so started from the back. Had a good few laps dicing with Matt & Kimi before the first of many spins, most caused by overheating the tyres trying to get the car facing back in the right direction. Eventually wrote it off against the barriers. Consoled myself by setting the fastest lap.

Decent race for me, I didn't expect 3rd place with these cars which I usually found boring but maybe Spa helped me a lot.

Bit of a strange race, seemed to just inherit 2nd in the end as others fell off and though was slowly gaining on Toni couldnt really do anything until falling off on the last lap trying too hard.

Shame a few had issues in joining last night, seeing Bob stationary and then disappearing and then the guys behind hitting each other was a shame.

First race in my new rig, so was stressful enough sat in that and not at my desk which i've used for 20+ years!

As soon as we were sent out onto grid dumped to desktop re joined, loaded set up and waited for start of race. As soon as the red lights went out dumped to desktop again. I have a clean install, all files validated and this is not the first time on a Sunday. Weds are OK, is it a different server on Sunday races?

I don't know but sunday TCR race there was once weird thing that you won't get car in 1st gear, but that time it affects all...

How is the server going to purposely disconnect you? The internet is probably busier on a sunday, you need to investigate your local traffic flow, packet loss and house internet usage. Check your router logs.

It could be windows trying to do updates or any other program contributing to traffic.

what setup is your new rig?

Trak Racer TR80 with my existing triple screens. They are now positioned alot nearer to me than before so it really fills the view.
I was stuck trying to work out how to upgrade from my existing G27 pedals (purely for the inbuilt carpet grip) as i'm still pretty happy with my T300 wheel. Always dreamed of going full-on rig but seating position is a bit different

Peculiar that this disco only happens the instant the race starts, happened 4 times now more than a coincidence, my internet connection is solid at present no problems, I'm baffled.

I am by no means an IT expert but it might be linked to windows updates. I went through a phase of taking about 20 mins to log onto the AC server sùccesfully (the game would screw up my g27 settings and only give me 180' of rotation). This lasted for a couple of months then mysteriously stopped. The g27 drivers have not been updated for years so it wasnt linked to that

I can recommend 'truebrake' for g27 brake pedal, fitted one to mine and find trail braking a lot easier. Before that i had a 'GT-EYE' spring in the brake which was also a lot better than the standard spring

I think i still have the original mod, bought from someone in australia i think... basically a block of rubber. It work ok and for braking on the limit felt great, and helped build up my other leg muscle! But ultimatley i was slower with it.

Becuase of the resistance of the pedal it takes longer to get to peak braking, more often i wasnt braking hard enough and was braking for longer. With alot of sims not properly simulating brake cooling, ducting etc or the process of braking i found i needed to fine tune it all but wasnt happy. Braking using my left leg just isnt the same as my right in real life.

I know its not 'realistic' but i prefer being able jump on the brakes and modulate coming off. But I've still not really tried out loadcell..
