a quick spin out in the new 2020 DTM cars. We will be using these for a series later in the year!

Just thought I would give the Audi a quick run around Spa, as I had only driven these briefly when RaceRoom were running a leaderboard event before they were released. Got on quite well with it, as long as I was careful on the throttle out of the slow corners & was quite chuffed with a lap of 2.09.1. Then I looked at the leaderboard for these at Spa, OMG, 2.02!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Back to the drawing board I guess. ::)

Same question I asked to Matt for the Thursday race, will jump starts be implemented for this race?

Same question I asked to Matt for the Thursday race, will jump starts be implemented for this race?

We will use the same settings as Thursday night  "Prevent false starts" is set to "no" so take care not to jump the start

 I will update the thread

just noticed we will be racing DTM cars at Spa twice this week (albeit from different era's)! looking forward to phspok's warm up event tonight  ;D

Well.. I was more thinking about the other way, running the same type of cars may get a bit 'samey'

Hard luck Geoff, another race that could have gone either way.

I chased Geoff for most of the race, his Audi seemed stronger in the slow corners but over a lap there was nothing in it and the gap remained 1.5s for most of the race.

Once I got within a second the slipstream helped me close up and I was able to get through. I made two mistakes - both oversteery moments out of the last chicane. The first time Geoff got back through and the second he closed right up forcing me to defend onto the last lap. Unfortunately Geoff then spun when tucked up behind me at the end of the straight. I was pleased not to have any spins and enjoyed a good, hard race.

It was a shame Frex started at the back as he seemed to have the best pace of all. I was conscious of him closing a couple of times but then seemed to drop back on ocassions allowing me and Geoff the buffer to keep battling.

Well done

Had terrible trouble taking the last chicane, only managed it in first gear at a slow pace. As in Thursday’s race tyre wear was high and with about 3 minutes to go all tyre wear indicators were flashing red! I kept going but unlike Thursday the car went straight across the last chicane and into the wall killing my engine. Other than that it was an exciting race on full throttle through the first chicane and the left hander before the last chicane. Look forward to racing these again. ;D

I had a weird moment just after the start - launched ok and got around T1, but was then going nowhere as I seemed to lose all drive. And then it all came back again and I spun..  ???  Very odd.

Two further spins, each time as I was getting closer to Geoff and Glenn ahead were also a bit annoying, but these were my own doing - first was just down to a heavy right foot, second was down to a heavy right foot whilst being on the kerb..  ::)

Apart from those moments however I enjoyed these more than I thought I would, and it was a nice challenge trying to manage the huge power along with the DRS and P2P. I do think though that these are more sensitive to setup changes than most other cars in the game, and although they make huge downforce, you have to maximise the aero to get all the benefit from it. Whether that is good or bad I guess depends on your point of view, but I quite like it. There is certainly more performance in them to unlock.

Congrats Glenn for the win.

Btw if you happen to check the replay, switch to the static camera view to get an impression of just how fast these things are shifting..  :o

Quite enjoyed that except for losing it on the last lap. ::)

As I mentioned before I first tried these in RaceRoom's competition before they were officially released, at Red Bull Ring. Then, I didn't really like them, lots of downforce but really tricky out of slow corners with the power coming in a big rush. But at Spa they seemed much more suited to the track & I really enjoyed blasting the Audi around here.

Was glad in practice & qually that no one else had figured out how to get these things around Spa near to the times on the RaceRoom leaderboard & was happy to get pole. Glenn got a better start but ran a bit wide at La Source & I was able to brave it out with him at Eau Rouge & take the lead. Built up a useful advantage on the first lap but Glenn gradually started to whittle that away as the first half of the race wore on. A disadvantage of leading is that you do not get DRS or P2P to play with which means that you are a sitting duck when the car behind gets close.

Eventually Glenn did get close enough & took the lead but by then my tyres were toast & even with the DRS & P2P I was struggling to keep up. Did briefly retake the lead when Glenn had a moment at the chicane only to make a mistake at Les Combes on the next lap & lose it again. Was also aware that Frex was consistently much faster than both of us at the front & without a couple of mistakes would easily have caught us. As it was he did inherit 2nd on the last lap when I spun at Les Combes.

Congrats to Glenn & Frex.

I sort of liked these, Were really touchy on power out of corners, but were drivable with care. I didn't really like the Push to Pass and DRS though
too much thinking about when to press what, I was slower using those options on most laps, that when I didn't use them.

These were wanting to kill me more out of corners than the F90s. And people seemed ok driving these, so I am going to set the F1 90s (ish) as the Single Seater
option for my next series starting next week.

Stephen

If you want the results doing for these test events, can you ask Dave to add the cars.
If you've left them as fun, I think they will be deleted automatically eventually.
